I don’t see why petrol/diesel only cars wouldn’t be available on the scheme in 2023 when the cut off date is 2030. You could get one in 2023, 2026 and again in 2029 so there’s your next three cars covered and in 2032 you could get a hybrid. As it stands, it will be many years before you have to make a decision on going fully electric.
On the gte exhaust – I wonder if it has anything to do with it supposedly being a ‘green’ vehicle and two visible tailpipes don’t fit that image?
If all of that is true than I think it’s a great system and something that I’ve thought should have been available for quite a while.
I hope this will continue once Covid is over as it might make it easier for people to take advantage of offers from dealerships that are far away without having to travel there and back twice-Automatic transmission
-Height for entry/exit of vehicle
-Cruise Control (adaptive if possible but not the end of the world if it isn’t)
-Rear parking sensors
-4/5 door
Although I’ve ranked them in order, they’re not really in order as if any one of those were missing I’d probably cross the car off my list
I don’t think any one category can be labelled as not sporty. I’d say you need to judge each car individually.
Just as an example, I wouldn’t describe any Porsche SUV as not sporty.
Also, as far as SUV’s go, the Seat Ateca looks pretty sporty.
VW used to do a caddy with the full golf gti interior and a body kit. That was pretty sporty even though it was a van. (I’d actually like one of those)
I agree with wigwam here. Sporty is whatever you want it to be. A while ago I suggested the new Nissan micra as a possible choice for my mam and she said it looked too sporty. To me, sporty and Nissan micra don’t really go together but if that’s your opinion then nobody else can really argue with it.
Personally, I think sporty leans more towards looks than speed. Cars can look sporty standing still. Aggressive styling and big alloys are things I’d look for when describing a car as sportyThat looks great in red! It looks like a beast with those wheels on too. Enjoy it mate
I’m not a big fan of the standard wheels and charging extra for them on all but one model is a bit sneaky in my opinion.
I really like the wheels in that pic Mike but I’ve had a look and they’re a really expensive option and not worth the money. They’re also massive and I’m not sure what that would do to the ride quality.
In terms of colours I like them all apart from the turquoise which is a bit much for my tasteThat is great news!
The lower spec models look like they come with a good amount of kit. At a quick glance the Life Pro Performance looks like a good value pick @ £1249
You can tell these three like each other and I think they’ve got the show right. They’ve got real chemistry which hasn’t quite been there previously. It’s entertaining for the family but still has a bit of car stuff in too. Excellent camera shots as always from the TG crew.
They’re doing a James Bond piece next week and I’ve seen that they’ve got a Toyota 2000gt on which in my opinion is one of the best looking cars to ever appear in Bond. Really looking forward to that
I do like that Audi. I’ve seen some videos on it and it looks like it has a real presence on the road.
I wouldn’t say it’s a beautiful car at all but it does look goodMarch 10, 2021 at 8:52 am in reply to: Pensioners have more penalty points than young drivers #141979I don’t think it really matters who started a thread. The most important thing is that it was started. More threads allow more activity on the forum. Without Brydo’s posts the forum would certainly be a much quieter place
I think one of toyota’s self charging hybrids or one of the smaller diesel engines from the vw group (Audi, vw, seat, Skoda) could be worth a look.
I used to have a vw group 1.6 diesel and I thought that was good on fuelFebruary 25, 2021 at 1:16 pm in reply to: I predict BEVs will be cheaper than same model PHEV by 2025! #141074I don’t think we’re at a point yet where everyone is demanding EV’s so companies will want to keep selling ICE cars that they’ve spent a fortune developing while they still can. I think we’ll see things changing the closer we get to 2030 but that’s still years away really.
I actually think an advantage to this is that it gives the charging systems time to develop. It would cause problems if everyone went out and got EV’s tomorrow but hopefully the charging will improve in line with EV sales so there is never a huge shortage and it keeps people relatively happyNew technology is always going to be expensive but cars like this won’t be this expensive forever. I think this shows another step forward in terms of charging times which is good. I doubt this particular model will make it onto the scheme but it’s interesting to see how the technology is improving. It won’t be too long before this level of charging and range is standard and the newer cars will be even better than that
Ah I love those little pepper pot style wheels on that old mini. I do think the mini looks better in it’s simpler form. On certain cars I actually think smaller wheels suit it better. They’re bound to contribute to a nicer ride too
I had considered a lot of those things too. All perfectly understandable.
I’ve seen a few people online saying EV kits are going to become popular so you’ll just be able to convert an old car into an EV pretty easily. So if we’re lucky we’ll still be able to see some good looking cars on the road in the future. If this does become popular, I wonder what cars will be desirable? Mk1 Audi TT maybe?
<p style=”text-align: left;”>I’m not sure it’s fair to compare a Ferrari to a Kia Soul but I get the idea and I agree that modern cars are nowhere near as good looking as older ones.
even if you compared an old Ferrari to a new one I still think the old ones look better. Is this a problem of “super cars” becoming too powerful and requiring all of these clever diffusers, air intakes and rear wings etc to make sure they not ridiculously dangerous?
Wouldn’t it be great if these companies said they weren’t going to chase Nurburgring lap times and just built a car that’s a joy to drive and looks beautiful</p>I wouldn’t say I’m in either camp as I enjoy ICE cars and my interest in EV’s is growing all the time. I don’t think EV’s are perfect yet but I’ve got no doubt that they will be in time. I know some are worried about this 2030 cut off date but I think it’s good to keep in mind that every single EV on sale today will not be available to buy new in 2030. Most of them will have probably had two new versions by then and none of us know how good they’ll be. I am certainly looking forward to finding out
I think I’ve mentioned it on a previous thread a while back but if you’ve not seen “Jaguar:going electric” on amazon prime it’s a pretty good watch if you have access. It’s all about the design and production of the i-pace. Interesting stuff
I didn’t realise this was available on motability. Watched a couple of YouTube videos and I really like it. The interior looks very smart and I think the door set up is cool. I like the fact it’s got a bit of rx8 in it as that was a really cool car and they still look good today (I wouldn’t want to own one though!) .
I know Mazda have said they used the smaller battery on purpose but I would have seriously considered this if it was a bit bigger. I don’t think charging would be too much of an issue for me but I’ve always said that I’d only want to charge my car at a maximum of once per week (in an average week) and I don’t think the Mazda would quite manage it.
I watched Robert Llewelyn‘s review and he thought 110 miles range was a realistic target.
I had the Pfizer vaccine on 30/01. I had a headache afterwards but couldn’t say if it was down to the vaccine or not. I was absolutely fine the next day though
February 2, 2021 at 9:42 am in reply to: What car would you like to see on the scheme that could make it? #138520VW id3 for me. I like the size and the styling. From memory the entry level spec has all the kit I’d want too so hopefully the ap wouldn’t be outrageous
I think it’s worth noting that the id3 (along with the majority of EV’s) wasn’t built to be a performance car or break speed records. I’ve seen some videos on YouTube and it still seems pretty quick
I mentioned “The Prestige” earlier and if you guys are a fan of Scarlett Johansson then it is absolutely the film for you!
