Ah, the Seat Leon 1.6tdi SE Copa auto @ 399 ap was the car I got in 2012. I loved this car and I still think it’s the best looking Leon. I also got a surprise when I picked it up as it came with xenon headlights which weren’t standard and weren’t even available on that model. The dealer told me there had been a problem at the factory with the standard lights so they had to fit xennons. Not sure if that was true or not but I loved them.

Also, I’d have to agree with Tharg in that every actor will have been involved with some rubbish films. Especially early on in their careers.
I remember hearing a quote from a well known actor saying that you can’t always be in great films but it doesn’t mean you don’t have to be great in it. I’ve forgotten who said it now but I believe that it’s true

Some of my favourites that haven’t already been mentioned are:

          Christian Bale

          Matthew Mcconaughey

          Paul Rudd

          Jeff Daniels

A lot of my opinions are based on TV shows too. Especially Jeff Daniels.

I’d recommend Le Mans ‘66 if anyone hasn’t seen it. Film for car lovers and Christian Bale is excellent in my opinion.
Also, The Prestige has been added to Netflix recently. Another great performance from Bale and is definitely worth a watch.

Great choice Mike. I’ve not driven a CH-R but I’ve sat in one and thought it was very comfortable. Looks very nice too. I hope you put a little review up once you’ve had it for a while ?

I thought it was interesting that only a few of the cars in that list were released in the past 5 years.

I can’t believe that the BMW Z8 didn’t make the list. One of the best looking BMW’s ever made in my opinion. Amazing that things like a 6 series gc or an Audi A5 got in ahead of that.

However, I accept that it’s all down to opinion and there isn’t really a right or wrong answer

I would also add that I agree with Tharg in that I can’t see a power decrease of 11bhp being noticeable in the real world. 178bhp is easily enough power for a car of that size

Recently I watched Robert Llewellyn’s review of the Vauxhall Corsa EV on YouTube and he explained his theory on why it is so expensive. He thinks that Vauxhall want to slow down the sale of EV’s by keeping the prices high. He also spoke a bit about battery cost and how much the cost has come down compared to (I think) ten years ago.

Now, I’ve got no idea if that’s true but it is something to think about

I watched Jonny Smith’s review of the Fiat 500 ev on YouTube and I think it’s brilliant. A really smart little car with good range (199 miles) if you get the long range version

Great to see the EV added to the scheme. Looks great and comes with a lot of kit. I like how the price increases for each trim level are relatively small compared to some of the other cars we see

I’d take a guess and say around 12-18 months before it would join the scheme but that is just my gut feeling and it’s not based on any fact at all.

I’m not absolutely desperate to have an EV but I do find them interesting. Much more interesting than any new ICE cars at the minute (reasonable ICE cars that is). I think I could make an EV fit my lifestyle with no problems at all but I still haven’t seen one where I thought yes I want that. This is why I’m keen on the id3 as I really like the look of it plus it’s similar in size to my current car.
EV technology is improving everyday so although there may not be anything that quite suits you today, there definitely will be in the future. I think there’s a Seat ev coming and probably a Skoda one too so they might be worth keeping an eye on. Not sure when they’re due out though.

If you manage to get a test drive on the Citroen, put a little review on the forum if you get a chance ?

Can anyone comment on how easy it is to get in/out of the Q3 in comparison to the Tiguan? I’ve tried a Tiguan which is pretty much the same car but I found it just a little bit too high to get in so crossed it off my list. I was wondering if the Audi was slightly lower with it being a bit more of a sporty model?

The id3 is the only car I’ve been looking forward to for ages. I’ve watched some YouTube reviews on them and the build quality looked a bit disappointing. It’s also got those touch buttons that a lot of people don’t like in the new golf. I’m still keen to see one up close and get a feel for it myself though.

I do think it will join the scheme at some point, just not straight away. I extended the lease on my current car so I’m lucky in that I can afford to wait a while yet.

My brother used to have a 116d and every time I’ve been in it I thought it was absolutely fine. I used to really like the feel of the interior and everything you touch felt really solid. I thought the standard sound system was good and the ride comfort was good too. I was expecting it to be really hard due to it being an m sport but it was fine for me.

I felt it did lack a little bit of power for a car that looks the way it does but hey, it wasn’t an unpleasant surprise as I’d seen the spec sheet so I knew what to expect.

It will be in the same ball park as the equivalent merc, audi, ford etc for performance.

As Adam says, it’s enough for day to day driving but don’t expect sports car performance. The car is built for economy not speed so judge it on that instead.

I’d recommend arranging a test drive if you can then you can see what you think of it.

I agree gothitjulie, the glass and camera could be added for a reasonable price but to be honest I don’t think I’d bother. I really like the fact that the entry level ID3 comes with adaptive cruise and heated seats as standard.

Atiq Urrehman, I’m assuming you’re shocked that the top speed seems low? If you think about it, 99mph is more than enough for what the id3 will be used for. Need to remember that it’s a car built for economy and not speed.

Good info there Brydo. I’m not sure if we’ll see this on the scheme but I really hope we do. Ideally within the next 18 months for me. I’m looking forward to seeing one in real life and I hope I’m not disappointed with it.

In terms of trim, I usually want the best I can get but looking at those specs, I’d be happy with the entry level “Life” spec as it’s got all the features that I’d want.
The only things I’d like on top are privacy glass and a rear camera but I could easily live without them and I don’t think it’s worth an extra £3.5k. Not sure how that would be reflected in AP though.

I think it is important to think about which cars the Leon is trying to compete with and judge it against them. For me the Leon isn’t really up against the BMW/Merc so I wouldn’t expect it to feel as good as them. I think it’s competing with the likes of Renault/Honda/Ford etc so that’s what I’d compare them with.

I also think it’s too early to say that this Leon won’t be remembered as well as the previous model as it hasn’t been around very long. I don’t think the Cupra has even been released yet.

I’m also a bit confused with the deep into triple figures comment. I assume that means you were travelling at well over 100mph and probably close to the cars top speed?

                                                Hi Bailey,

I’ve been trying to find a golf for you. I thought I’d found the Golf Life 1.0tsi manual which appeared to be an easy choice as it was the only one available for u25. I’m now confused as you can spec that model/engine on the vw site but when I looked on vw’s motability list that model isn’t on there.
Hopefully someone here can explain what’s going on there. If not, you might have to speak with motability or a vw dealer to see if there are any golfs available for u25.

I think I spotted a Leon FR 1.0 on the motability list so that might be worth looking into.

If you need an auto, the Focus ST line x or Corolla GR sport could be good. The Focus looks good value.

I hope you find something suitable

Like @file28 says, you can start looking whenever you like. There’s no harm in looking as you could even rule some cars out if they’re not suitable when you seen them up close.

id also keep in mind that between now and then there will three (I think) quarterly updates to the scheme so there’s a chance a car you like could disappear so I wouldn’t set my heart on anything just yet. At the same time new cars could join which tick all the boxes for you.

i hope you manage to find something suitable.

I really like the look of this car. I think it’s nicer looking than the Seat/VW equivalent models and it’s got the nicest looking interior too. That blue is very nice and so are red and green. It’s nice to see cars in colours other than black/white/grey for a change.

I think the 1.0 would be fine however for an extra £400 I’d go for the 1.5 as I think that little extra bit of power will make driving much smoother and you’ll not have to floor it as much.

I could probably manage that range although I’d have to charge it more than once a week which isn’t what I’d like. Compared with other EV’s on the scheme I don’t think it looks particularly good value.
However, I am pleased that’s it’s another new option and might be great for some people
