Not without note that Autocar heads the picture list with the DS. Can remember the launch of the Goddess in’55. I was just a wee lad but here was a motor car that looked like a space ship. Probably one of the reasons for my continuing interest in and enthusiasm for vehicles/driving. Still looks like a space ship and, despite its 65 years, more modern than most cars of today. Particularly Citroen’s new “DS” range of nasty punk-rap-mobiles. I reckon if Citroen relaunched the proper DS body powered by more modern stuff then it would go like gâteaux chauds!

I always fancied a 1600E they handled well with there Lotus upgrade suspension.
I had 2 Mark 1 Lotus Cortina’s a 64 and a later 66 many years ago when they had no value.
Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.

the range rovers and mini and fiat 500 are vile the rest are beautiful especially the bugatti wonderful
i think one of the best proportion coupes is the m235i from 2014 onwards shame not on the list
My legs were always too long to drive the Lotus.
Had a blast as a passenger in a mate’s with the roof off, cracking little thing, shame he stuffed it into a bridge a while later, he was okay but not so much the car tho.
I thought it was interesting that only a few of the cars in that list were released in the past 5 years.
I can’t believe that the BMW Z8 didn’t make the list. One of the best looking BMW’s ever made in my opinion. Amazing that things like a 6 series gc or an Audi A5 got in ahead of that.
However, I accept that it’s all down to opinion and there isn’t really a right or wrong answer
That 1959 Ferrari in 3rd place is absolutely beautiful. That would be my no. 1

Beauty being in the eye of the beholder, I feel I ought to mention the Tatra T77. Reckoned to be one of the earliest aerodynamic cars it was a Czech make and the T77 was made in the mid-1930s. Eccentric in the extreme it had a 3.oL air-cooled V8 in the back. Must have been a doozy in corners!

I always thought the Karmann Ghia was the most beautiful car in the world. I loved the Peugeot RCZ because that had echoes of the Karmann. Despite being a German design, I always thought California and the coastal roads were the spiritual home of the KG. Most today are generic and boring. Now they all look the same…apart from the cult of Japanese quirky cars, a few of which are regularly imported through a company up near Middlesborough. You want exotically beautiful
