Daimler Dart – all round disc brakes, 2.5 litre hemi-head V8 engine, fibreglass body, 120mph – and all in 1959. Definitely qualifies as a car with panache!
Glad we agree, Wigwam. Remember the police had a few as “patrol” vehicles. Asked my uncle (an enthusiastic driver) why the rozzers had got Daimler Darts. Reply: to catch other people with Daimler Darts.
BTW have you thought about registering “Panache” as a car name? Don’t know how tricky it is but I do kn0w that some folks make a living at it. And the Jaguar or Aston Panache has a wonderful ring to it!
Tharg, I just checked the Intellectual Property Office trademark database. “Panache” is registered to Renault. There has been a Renault 5 Panache and a Renault Clio Panache in the past!
