CS1Hello everyone,
Has anyone managed to order and receive the new GTD yet? Heard the chip shortage seems to be affecting production? Anyone know anything?
Thanks

CS1How did you find that out Matt? And do you know the reason for it?

RichardIf I had a drive gte it would be went out in one the other day for a few hours what a car I thought the gtd was quite quick but the gte different class.

RichardwThat’s strange, on paper the GTD is the quicker car. More torque, higher top speed and quicker to 60.

Mmoreton5New gte does 0 to 62 in 6.7 242hp and the gtd is 7.1 200hp

RichardwDepends where you look and top speed is much lower at 138
June 24, 2021 at 2:30 pm #156070Made enquiries about the GTD. Was told there was at least a six month wait. Ordered a T-ROC instead: nearly as quick, more comfy and has 4X4 which should have the same effect as a halfway decant LSD. Only three month wait.

RichardwI looked at The T-ROC Tharg but of course the mpg is quite poor
June 24, 2021 at 5:03 pm #156093Agreed, Richard. But I do such a low mileage it really makes very little difference. A BEV would have been a better choice but I couldn’t find one to suit. Moreover, even the VW salesman said that they’ve got a way to go before they get it right. Next time, I reckon.

ZakHi All, I placed my order back in January originally for a R-Line but early April switched this to the GTD. I took collection last week Tuesday. I went for the dolphin grey.. colour in person looks amazing and overall the car is great.

Mmoreton5I just saw a GTE in the showroom and it has fake plastic exhausts, looked quite hideous if I’m honest. That would certainly help sway my choice to the GTD I think
June 26, 2021 at 5:42 pm #156289I see what you mean, the GTE has an engine though so why no exhausts?

June 26, 2021 at 5:59 pm #156292
Mmoreton5That gte picture doesn’t look too bad, in person you can noticeably see how fake they are. Was a dark blue colour that I saw. No idea why it doesn’t have real exhausts

RichardwThought that was probably the case Tharg. We are just the opposite so had to be sensible.
June 27, 2021 at 8:32 am #156347I’d love to see the Golf GTi on the scheme but don’t thing it’ll make it. Costs about the same as the GTD but produces power well north of the 200bhp which seems to be the limit. The GTE only made it on scheme, I believe, because of its worthy hybrid nature.
Now the Polo GTi does hit all the Motability criteria but I think it will sadly remain excluded primarily because it is marketed as a car which is enjoyable to drive. Can’t have the Daily Flail seeing us sponging disabled being given free daredevil-racerist mega sports cars doing 200mph!
June 27, 2021 at 8:39 am #156350On the gte exhaust – I wonder if it has anything to do with it supposedly being a ‘green’ vehicle and two visible tailpipes don’t fit that image?
