I have had an email telling me a local guy will be in touch soon but haven’t heard anything back yet – I’ll update this if and when I have more information.
Only other issue I know have is the Peugeot e3008 has now seriously caught my eye!!!

Truth is, most of these guys work on commision and profit sharing. There’s no room for them to score extra with a motability order – I’ve heard from £150 to £500 profit for the dealer on Motability orders depending on the source, I believe it to be in the £250 range. With a private sale, they can negotiate on price, so the higher they get the better, they can push extended warranties, service plans, finance deals, try to score points on a part-ex deal etc. and potentially put a lot more in their own pocket.
Not saying it doesn’t suck as a customer for us, but I do kinda understand why they aren’t as excited to deal with a motability customer as they are a retail one.
I personally have only had one bad “I’m a motability customer” response from a dealer and quite happy to name and shame, VW in Sunderland, Tyne & Wear, but it was over 4 years ago when I was looking at Tiguans – I was trying to get them to match a £500 off deal being offered elsewhere, based on the fact that they had a blue Tiguan on the showroom floor with huge motability stickers along both sides, and their price-match promise stickers on the bonnet of the same car. Guy just point-blank said “No, we don’t do that on motability cars” – I’ve never been back as this was my second bad experience at this dealership and the first one was as a retail customer when my son was looking for a brand new car and the salesman (might have been the same one, not sure) said “You don’t want that car (the one he asked about), you probably can’t afford the insurance, look at this one instead”
To this day, I still drive 30-odd miles round trip to Lookers in Newcastle for all servicing and repairs because I don’t want to ever put a penny in thier pockets. Hell my work van is a Caddy and if I need anything for that I order from TPS in newcastle for pretty much the same reason. I did ONCE buy a single bolt from them for the caddy as the van was off the road without it, but in the last 5 years, they’ve had £7 out of me because of those two experiences.

Confirmed but this doesn’t look like the e3008 (taillights look different) but I don’t think it likely they’d have different implementations on different vehicles just because of the econmies of scale thing…

I did see a “camping” image on one of the videos I looked at and from that it does appear that the V2L is from the charging port, I assume with some kind of adapter which plugs into the charge port and then gives you a 3pin UK socket

I know of multiple issues already, no earth bond to water (although there appears to be a loose earth cable nearby, possibly just not connected). No rating on the fuse, if it is the fuse I see, old (15 year+) consumer unit, no isolation switch and to top it all off, all of these electrics are in the back of a non-removable kitchen cabinet with very limited space to work and/or add new equipment, oh and very possible it’ll exceed the 15m cable run they consider standard as it’ll have ti go out the back of the house, then around the side, around a garage, then back along the front to where I park.
They already agreed to come do the survey, but the truth is, I am surviving my disability by denying its effect on my life and this has thoroughly kicked that self-delusion into the distance. I probably should never have tried to do it myself but my stubborn streak raised its ugly head.
I tend deal with my disability by planning and possibly over planning for every reasonable possibility so it’s my nature to look into ICE alternatives in case the survey comes back negatively.

Happened on my VW Tiguan a few months back – same deal, force open with airbags/levers, replacement actuator and flap required.

I’m just waiting for the inevitable moment when I am reminded about just how insanely fast a black car goes from freshly cleaned to in desperate need of another washing.
I chose black mainly because I wasn’t keen on how the black sportline badging looked on every other colour except maybe white but the current Tiguan is white and I wanted a change.

Do motability/ ohme require a dropped kerb? My drive doesn’t have one despite having been in place 20+ years. Really don’t fancy shelling out for one on a rented house…
I’d ask ohme but yet to hear from them despite reading that they normally get in touch within a few days of your application. Approaching 4 weeks now since I ordered the enyaq

Standard Pulman procedure, before they even think about doing what the car is in for, they spend a couple hours desperately trying to find something else they can charge for. My Tiguan was in for a replacement fuel flap regulator and I was asked if I wanted to pay for coolant, ac and oil top ups.

Don’t let them tell you cancellation is a problem because they have the car, you are 100% free to cancel at any time between ordering and entering your PIN on collection for absolutely any reason at all. Seriously, anything is a good reason, itchy ear? Good enough.
I have just had the AP on my Skoda Enyaq reduced with nothing more than an email to the salesman – only £400 but still better in my pocket than someone elses. With an ETA of end of May on my car (which is unconfirmed) you can bet I’ll be asking again if the AP does drop next quarter too.
I don’t think they are under any obligation to take motability orders (unless its in the contract they sign) so it may be that they won’t let you order again but there are plenty of dealers out there so don’t let that put you off. You can order elsewhere and still get any servicing/support at your nearest dealer.
Seems like they just don’t want to help in which case I’d be thinking I don’t want to deal with you either.

Hi my PIP is due for renewal March 2024 and the window to order my new car opens 10th February (lease ends May 2024)…
I believe you only have to fulfill the “12 months left on your award” rule on your initial or first lease. I am in a similar situation, well under 12 months remaining, reassessment forms sent in, but with no updates at all, and have just ordered a new car myself. I started my application online via the motability account and it did take overnight for them to confirm my eligibility but then went through without issues.

They can ask,and it’s not uncommon but also not standard. You can refuse but at least it’s a reasonable amount and they told you up front it was nonrefundable.
I’ve never paid a deposit and never had a lower value car, Volvo XC40, VW Tiguan R-Line and Skoda Enyaq 85x (all £2k+ APs) but possibly just lucky.
You aren’t tied to any one dealer so if you aren’t willing to pay in the future, just try ordering at a different dealer, you can still move back to your local for servicing etc.
I have always had the thought in my head that I’d refuse if asked but never actually had that idea tested.

Motability will use your entitlement to free car tax on one vehicle to cover the tax. If it is your only vehicle then its very simple and straightforward and you don’t need to do anything. I’ve heard of people having to sort things differently they have another vehicle but if its the only one, nothing to worry about

Very similar here – started my application online, dealer rep asked for National Insurance No and drivers licence. Got an email on my phone while I was still sitting at the desk confirming both the dealer and motability acceptance.

Nothing new here but just to reiterate, might give you a little more confidence. Everything above is correct.
You are absolutely 100% allowed to cancel an existing order at any time, for any reason up until you enter your PIN on collection. Seriously, you can cancel because you wake up with an itchy nose and saw a wierd looking cat if you want to.
As for your lease ending, it doesn’t matter when your current lease extension ends – if you have a new car on order, your current vehicle stays with you until the new one is ready to collect, so if the Volvo is what you want and the wait time is something you’re happy to deal with, cancel the Kia, order the Volvo and sit back and wait.

When I posted this morning it did actually bring up the details of the 5 coupes including the 85s and thr sportline but it disappeared within seconds apparently as when I popped back here and saw someone else’s comment and checked again it was already gone.
I suppose we can take a teeny tiny bit of positive from it as it does mean someone is working on it, albeit not very effectively

Estates still going to a generic page but 5 different coupes now coming up. Might be a sign of ongoing improvements

Guess my chance at a reduced AP just went out of the window especially if the car does come back on higher… Still I signed up at 2500, so if that’s what it needs to be….

January 3, 2024 at 6:32 pm in reply to: New Q1 AP Drops in Price ASK the Dealer for the New Lower AP #253701Yes, its Alex Bowden – I still had his card in my wallet so sent an email to his personal pulmanskoda email address so I guess now it’s just a case of wait for the response.
He told me 10-14 weeks when I ordered but the pulman online system is saying estimated end of may which is a LOT more than the initial estimate but the truth is, I’m not too worried. I’m certainly not made of money but I’m more than happy paying for diesel for the current tiguan until May if needbe although I don’t deny that I’m not exactly dreading the drop in day to day running costs.

January 3, 2024 at 6:05 pm in reply to: New Q1 AP Drops in Price ASK the Dealer for the New Lower AP #253687Just emailed Durham Skoda asking for the new lower price on my car – hopefully it goes as smoothly as Phadra says it will!

I’m going to take a run out to another dealership tomorrow to see if they have any 85s in the show room.
A quick look on the skoda website shows a total of 2 85x sportlines in the country so you probably won’t see one but the 80 to 85 is motor, battery and software so even if you can only see an 80 it’ll give you a very accurate idea. Test drives too, yes the 85x has a touch more power than the 80x but everything else should be utterly comparable.
On another note, I have ordered a black 85x estate last week purely because of the blacked out look. Really fancied the sport blue but didn’t like the look of the black badges on the blue. Would have looked OK on white too but currently in a white tiguan so wanted a change.

The £750 is, as far as I am aware, definitely a one-off. If you had it previously I would expect you wouldn’t get it again. It might be worth asking Motability though as you returned the previous car relatively quickly so there may be an exception I don’t know about.
There’s always the possibilty of a grant too, although that is a whole other set of hoops to jump through.

No idea I’d they have a number limit but the 428bhp volvo ex30 didn’t make it

You can cancel at any time, see what Q1 brings then decide ?
Not really my style to mess people about if it is at all possible. On the off-chance the AP drops I’ll ask them to match the new AP but cancellation isn’t really on the cards unless my landlord says no to the charger install. Going to wait till the new year to ask, no point chancing catching him busy with Christmas stuff to ask a question which can easily wait a week or so.

December 22, 2023 at 7:37 pm in reply to: Gov petition to reduce state pension age for disabled #252085Not trying to be the pessimistic one but has anything ever changed as a result of one of these petitions?
I just always had the impression that they’re more about saying they listen than actually about them listening. I’ve seen a couple of the “debates” about petitions and they’ve been in a small room with at most a dozen people there which makes me doubt the potential impact of them.
