ParticipantIs this against Motability rules ? and regulations as was pointed out to me ive seen it mentioned many many times on Which Mobility so took it as a given.
I mentioned to someone on FB who said their AP had dropped £500 three days after she had placed her order.
Here is a screengrab of my comment and a couple of “terse replies”

ParticipantInteresting.
I’ve just had a call back from my dealer (who have been great so far) to say that they’ve had difficulty doing this in the past, and Motability don’t like them doing it.
He then said I’d need to speak to Motability – which I told him they’d tell me no, and that all he needs to do is re-submit the order.
He then said “ill give Motability a call”, which seems silly – they’re just going to tell him ‘no’ on the phone.
Again, I said he’d just need to re-submit the order and he finally said “let me look into this and I’m sure we can get it sorted”.
SIGH!

Good Grief 🙁
What have you both ordered and what’s the wait times?
I’d be tempted to tell them to cancel and re-order at another dealer.
Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

ParticipantPhaedra,
I have gone to another dealer, I told him if he couldn’t alter my application then I would go elsewhere. He didn’t so I walked away.

ParticipantJust emailed Durham Skoda asking for the new lower price on my car – hopefully it goes as smoothly as Phadra says it will!

ParticipantI assume you’re going through Alex? He’s not great at answering phone messages but usually responds to emails ok. I emailed Monday when the AP dropped, got a reply just before 12 on Tuesday, can’t complain about that! 🙂
I forgot to ask him when it’s due, another user on the UK & Ireland Enyaq Facebook group ordered a month after I did and he’s picking his up tomorrow!. Apart from dropping the AP at the start of October (took me 2 visits and an email) and a reply when I asked at the end of October if he had a build week I’ve not heard anything else from him until Tuesday. One of the receptionists rang Dec 8th to let me know it was being built as an 85x but that’s it.

ParticipantYes, its Alex Bowden – I still had his card in my wallet so sent an email to his personal pulmanskoda email address so I guess now it’s just a case of wait for the response.
He told me 10-14 weeks when I ordered but the pulman online system is saying estimated end of may which is a LOT more than the initial estimate but the truth is, I’m not too worried. I’m certainly not made of money but I’m more than happy paying for diesel for the current tiguan until May if needbe although I don’t deny that I’m not exactly dreading the drop in day to day running costs.

ParticipantMy car was ready for collection on 19th December. The dealer called and said it would be prudent to leave my car in their compound and wait till after 1st Jan to see what happened to the A/P. He said he had a feeling it was going to be cheaper for me. True enough, it has gone down and I’ve saved a few quid for waiting a bit.
This is the second time this has happened, once at Toyota and once at Ford. Both times my contract has been sorted in minutes by the dealer.January 3, 2024 at 11:53 pm #253707Dee49
ParticipantJust joined the forum so go easy on me please.
I emailed my dealer to ask if he would put the paperwork through to motability again as the price of the Škoda I’d ordered dropped by £400. He phoned today and said no as his invoice for the car wouldn’t match. Said he spoke to manager who also said no.
He said it was because it was a car that was in stock and not a factory order. I said it shouldn’t matter as it’s only the motability side. His reply- customers don’t understand that there’s a lot that goes on in the background with orders that customers don’t know about!
anyway it was left that his manager is asking Škoda uk to pay the £400! Is he talking rubbish? I feel I should just walk away as but how easy is it to cancel the motability application? Does he need to do it or can I just contact motability? Thanks

Participant@Dee49 from what i have read on this forum in this thread and others the dealer is talking b/s.
Just tell them you will cancel the order and then re order either with them or at another more helpfull dealers.

Participant@MickC thanks for the advice. My gut is telling me he’s talking b/s and he really doesn’t know what he’s doing! Think it’s time to cancel and go elsewhere like Devito.
This morning will be decision time!

ParticipantI had the same thing with every dealership I’ve ever dealt with saying it’s against the motability rules. If you need to cancel, the dealership should do it for you but motability will cancel it for you if they are being difficult. They always ask if you’ve spoken to your dealership first and will cancel it for you.

ParticipantEmailed my dealer to ask if there was any way I could get the £400 reduction on my Enyaq order and he’s just replied to say he had already done it before I asked, checked my online Motability account and the price has gone down £400. Top bloke, proper made my day.

ParticipantIt just proves that the dealers can amend the AP when they want to.
Far away is near at hand in visions of elsewhere.
January 4, 2024 at 10:25 am #253764Ioniq
ParticipantThe Motability salespersons that say the AP cant be changed must be new to the job and unsure what to do.
The experienced ones know this happens every quarter.
You just got to be firm. As the OP says, it is common practice.
Go to a other dealership if they cannot accommodate you.

Participant@Dee49 If you’ve ordered an 80 I’d cancel and re-order.
If it’s a stock car it won’t be an 85, the 85 now comes as the Edition trim with a lot more add-ons included in the price.

ParticipantWell I rang the dealer this morning and cancelled the order. He said he would delete the motability application. He wasn’t happy and when finished he slammed the phone down!!
Need less to say he didn’t delete the application so they had to do it for me.
Gonna have a think now about what car to get as the only other Škoda dealership is owned by the same company. In Northern Ireland we don’t have the same choice.

Were you by any chance dealing with the MS Skoda on Boucher Road?
January 4, 2024 at 4:21 pm #253829NanasRob71
ParticipantThat sucks, Dee49. Hope you get it sorted.
To update my situation – It’s been 24 hours since I spoke to my dealer, who said he’d ‘try and get it sorted’. Sadly I’ve not heard from him, and my Motability account is still showing the older (higher) price.
Not looking too hopeful on this. I really really don’t want to cancel and have to re-order at another dealer. And my new Ohme charger is going through the process of booking the installation, so I don’t want a cancellation to screw that all up!

ParticipantHi Dee I am in NI as well. I have had no issue in getting the APs reduced with the Skoda dealership on the last 2 times it has dropped. There are a few Skoda dealers here so shop around but very disappointing as my dealer has had no issues at all reducing the AP.

it wasn’t the one on the Boucher road but the same dealership! Did you have any issues Beepcat?
Can anyone recommend a good Škoda dealership in NI?
January 4, 2024 at 5:39 pm #253839JonnyRay
ParticipantDee I am dealing with Boucher and honestly they have been great no issues getting things changed or APs updated. However Nick in John Mulholland Skoda Randalstown is also great.
January 4, 2024 at 5:54 pm #253842Dee49
Participant@JonnyRay that’s really strange that 2 dealerships owned by the same company are completely different. I’ll call into Boucher and have a chat with them if not I’ll take a run up to Randalstown. Thanks for the info

ParticipantSame with my dealers, their VW in Durham is hopeless but Sunderland are a bit better.
Their Skoda in Durham (mine) are usually pretty good but, chap on the Facebook group ordered his Enyaq with the Sunderland branch a month after I ordered mine, got updates all the way and picked it up today.

I didn’t have the best experience with MS Skoda on Boucher after it turned out they had given very misleading info for a sale. They were pretty awful when I called them on it and the order was cancelled. I went to John Mulholland Skoda in Randlestown and reordered and they’ve been great. Howard Abraham Skoda in Craigavon were really helpful too!
Good luck and hopefully you get sorted soon!

ParticipantI’m only back from Randalstown and that’s my second visit and they have been ok. I’ve also been to MS boucher twice and they were ok. There is another Skoda dealer in Craigavon I think. If you’re in Belfast it would be about the same distance as Randalstown.
Actually might take a wee spin out to it tomorrow.
