I’m absolutely not certain of this but I would think it may be an issue. If you choose to apply both the GCB and NCP to the car, you are choosing to pay a little over £1000 which would absolutely be over the 50% of grant limit. As the NCP can be paid direct to you after getting the car and the GCB is absolutely paid direct to you after getting the new car then they may both count as your contribution.
At the same time, if they consider the NCP to be a reduction in the AP, then the actual AP is then £1349 which after the £999 grant leaves less than 50% of the grant to cover the difference.
I typed this with one idea in my head then talked myself into the second (completely opposite) possibility so now I’m as confused as you seem to be.
All I can suggest is don’t ask here as I doubt anyone here will know 100% unless they have been in the exact same situation – only option I can think of is ask someone who WILL know, either Motability or the grants team.
It basically all comes down to if they consider the NCP to be your contribution (which technically I think it is as you CAN use it but don’t have to) or if they consider it to be a Motability reduction in the AP.

December 3, 2023 at 2:03 pm in reply to: How has David Cameron become foreign minister, when he’s not elected as a MP?? #250733its for Labour to lose rather than the Tories to win.
They managed last time – prior to Corbyns announcement that he would allow a second Brexit referendum, they had the last election waiting for them.
Figured he’d find a way! Now Starmer is saying positive things about Thatcher. Do these people never learn from the mistakes of others? Praising Thatcher is a sure-fire way to annoy the hell out of a lot of people in Labour strongholds. A post I saw on google said something about trying to appeal to traditionally conservative voters but he really needs to NOT lose the traditionally Labour voters in the process.
Now don’t get me wrong here, I’m well aware that Thatcher did do a LOT of good things when in office. I’m absolutely not a die-hard Labour supporter but I’m very much NOT in favour of the current government for a host of reasons specific to policies and actions. If I had to put myself in a “camp” I’d put myself as a left-leaning centrist. I absolutely believe it is our moral duty to take care of those UNABLE (not unwilling) to take care of themselves, but I also believe in the free market – if you’re willing (and able) to work harder then you absolutely should have more as a result.

As far as I’m aware the only colour restrictions are that there are two colours only availble on the VRS which isn’t on motability anyway – according to the skoda configurator you can have any Enyaq in 1 solid, 1 special and 5 or 6 metallics

Well now I’m in a “proper pickle” lol
I had just decided not to bother getting a car for a while, but if the previous post on the APs and orderability of the 85 is true, I was thinking about going for either a Racing Blue Edition or a Black Sportline (love the blue but don’t like the way the black badges etc look against it). The 6-8 month build time will give me enough time to comfortably put together the AP, but I REALLY like the 360 camera on my Tiguan and I’m 100% sure I’m not going anywhere near that Maxx pack price…
"Man is born in freedom, but he soon becomes a slave, in cages of convention, from the cradle, to the grave."
For some reason I thought the 80x sportline came with the 360 camera but a quick look at the 85x configurator allows you to add it as part of the maxx package – am I mistaken about it being included on the 80x?

I have relaxed my budget somewhat but not that much – here’s hoping some serious drops do materialise or it’ll stay well and truly in the NOPE column lol

Most but not all, every one I’ve personally been in has had a high floor as the majority of manufacturers seem to be favouring a so-called skateboard style base for pure EV’s.
If you look more at the type of car which is also available in ICE format you’ll find less of an issue. The lexis 300e springs to mind as one example, but I know there are several other converted cars out there, but I don’t know of any cars built from the ground up to be electric with batteries in places other than under the floor.

Only one part of the puzzle but I sat in a Toyota BZ4X the other day and didn’t like the seat as it seemed too wide for me, and I’m a long way from being called skinny.

I appreciate any and all feedback but I’ve decided to shelve the whole thing for, at least, a few months. I suppose I’m kinda fortunate in that I am free to order at any point in the next 15 months as I’m just approaching the end of the 4th year of an extended-to-5-year lease and completely comfortable in the Tiguan I have at the moment.
I just realised that I had a little more in the new car savings account than my wife and I had in credit card debt combined and an old loan just finished too so going to take the opportunity to clear more debt and that will allow us to start saving again with a little more gusto. I’m already particularly interested in both the Skoda Enyaq and the Volvo EX30, and now have the Ioniq 6 – I don’t know what else will come and go but as I said, lucky enough not to be in any rush.
Again, thanks all for any comments/feedback…

Seems the deals around for the 6 are all stock cars and they all seem to have the cameras instead of mirrors which adds a grand to the cost, completely wiping out the 750 dealer contribution.
The cynic in me can’t help but wonder if the dealers ordered too many with the digital mirror option and people are generally wanting standard mirrors as the digital ones are an expensive extra with pretty much zero functional improvement, so the dealers are now desperate to get rid of them hence the disount/promotion

November 20, 2023 at 11:07 am in reply to: How much of a ‘Bonus’ has a dealer given off the AP of a car? #248673I got free mats “worth” £220 on my Volvo years ago and £500 off of my last one, a Tiguan as my local Lookers matched an offer available down country

I’m equally well-behaved/lucky/boring (choose your preferred description) – never had an accident worth mentioning (reversed into someone once possibly cracking a number plate – the guy claims it was me, the dirt in the crack claimed the crack was old but I gave him a tenner for a new plate and left – figured it was worth a tenner not to have to argue) and a single (in my case 4 points due to a whingy magistrate) speeding incident nearly a decade ago.
Even on private insurance, a first offence with 3 points would be unlikely to affect you, but as previously mentioned, you should let the insurance know – belt and braces kinda thing

I did briefly consider the Megane but at first look at reviews etc, it comes across as pretty cheap looking – how does it feel? Is it something I should slip back into the possibly/maybe list?

Yeah, I’m relaxing my personal £2-2.5k AP limit, but can’t relax it to BMW levels – will push to 3, maybe 3.5 but at that point it starts being about what I CAN afford whereas now it’s about what I am willing to spend

Gotta put a limit on avoiding colours because I’ve had them before – currently in a White Tiguan, prior to that was a Grey XC60 and my last five private cars were red, green, silver, blue and black – if I keep it up I’m going to run out of choices!!!
"Man is born in freedom, but he soon becomes a slave, in cages of convention, from the cradle, to the grave."
I know I probably should but I’ve never test driven a car yet – too many years in the automotive industry – I’ve already driven 99% of whats on the road and I had personally driven multiple XC60s and Tiguans before I took one on motability, but I may have to break the trend to see how I do with the one-pedal doohickery etc as I’ve actually never driven an electric car.

My local Bristol Street is doing 750 off of the 6 – not sure if thats a nationwide thing or not – just figured it was worth mentioning in case you didn’t see my post in the deals thread.
Spoke with my localish branch earlier and its stock cars only.
Can confirm this – been to EH today and was told the same thing – they only have ONE left in stock, it’s white, which is the one colour I was kinda planning to avoid after 4 years in a white Tiguan (and next door has a white qashqai, with white BMWs and Mercs just across the square) – to make it a little worse, it also has the cameras instead of the mirrors which is an unwanted upgrade of £1000 which would eat all (and then some) of the £750 EH are contributing.
"Man is born in freedom, but he soon becomes a slave, in cages of convention, from the cradle, to the grave."
It does specifically say on the ad 750 new car payment AND 750 Bristol Street. I don’t see anything that could be called a con there

The wheelchair didn’t come with our last car, a specialist mobilty supplier (https://www.bewickmobility.co.uk) delivered it direct to our house a couple of days after. Ask Motability who can probably add it to your order from their end.
Same thing here – mine was delivered to the house a week after we got the car

Just noticed that my local Bristol Street Motors (Sunderland) is doing 750 dealer contribution to some cars – I only checked Sunderland and the Ioniq 5 and 6 and its on those – no idea (and too lazy) to check other branches and makes/models but might be worth a few seconds of your time to have a look locally for yourselves… Note the ap’s listed are assuming you get both 750 discounts, theirs and the new car payment which is why the AP’s don’t match the ones on the motability search

Wellllllll…..
As it’s a direct quote from my wife, and I am 100% sure that IS what she said, mainly because she has said it on DOZENS of occasions, my post is 100% accurate and therefore not in need of correction.
BUT
I’m not correcting you because you’re also correct in your reason 😛
Of course, you may be on shaky ground trying to correct my wife – kinda taking your life in your hands there 😀

I just found the motability chair a pain to remove the footrests – it’s entirely possible I’m doing something wrong – but the LA one does the job for me for my very occasional use – doubt I’ve needed it more than a dozen times in the last 5 years and most of those were at airports.

Seriously thinking about an EX30 since the Enyaq debacle – but with my newly revised opinion on max AP the Enyaq may reappear in the shortlist even if the AP jumps. In a waiting game now to see what actually materialises. Fortunately I am close to the end of the first year of an extended lease so can order anytime from this afternoon to February 2025 and in no particular hurry to get the Tiguan out of my life.
