i currently have a juke hybrid n-connecta and the 3  years is up in may 26.

i am 66 in  sept  25 so get my old age pension the grand sum of £800  4 weekly lol.

the current juke costs me less than my wpms.

i work 20 hours a week at an accountants in mansfield about 20 miles round trip. i do very little other mileage. so once i start getting my old age pension i could give up work and basically have almost the same income as the 20 hours pays almost £820.

so i reckon i will just extend this lease until i pack up working and then just hand it back.

that way i will actually be better off retired than working lol.

As above, have a great time 🙂

After working full time since leaving school I was told I was “unfit for work” and put on the scrap heap about 20 years ago, came as a massive shock and I took it badly, it took me a very long time to accept it.  It was my then 15yr old son being diagnosed Autistic and me becoming his sole carer that gave me a sense of purpose again, it’s funny how life throws things at you!.  I’ve now been on my pension for just over two years, nothing has really changed 🙂

Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

Won’t you also get AFPS ontop of the state pension?

            Enjoy you retirment 🙂

You never know, without that job to occupy you, you may end up using the car more for leisure purposes, but only you can make that call. Either way, all the best

@kezo i already get my army pension as i took redundancy in 94 under options for change the first time they gutted the armed forces so i get 20/22nds of the full pension. i think my war pension goes up with an age allowance of about £14 a week. so i wont starve lol.

i enjoy the work at the accountants but my back etc is getting worse so i am not sure how much longer its doable.

and then the question will be is it worth £80 a week for a car doing very few miles.

                  Mitch,

Given you will have more time with retirement, you will in all probability fill your time with other stuff, and may need a car more than ever.

If you keep the status quo, retire and see where it foes from there.

You could always return the car if not using it. Its availability would give you more options with your time.

@mitch With PIP for example, its still paid after pensionable age. Can you still claim WPMS, with it being for the motability scheme or something similar, as this could be used for taxi fare going shopping etc, without eating into your pensions?

                    Sorry for my ignorance here

fwiw, I also agree with @Ioniq

I’m coming to the same conclusion as I’m coming up to retirement age and like you I’m part time at the moment. I’ve had my present car for 18 months and I’ve covered just over 10k .
