Nowhere did I say that anyone is fortunate to be disabled – just fortunate that circumstances have changed and progress made since the days of many of our disabled forefathers living through very troubled times. They would would be amazed what aids and vehicles are available and affordable to most of us today allowing many of us to rightly live a more independent life.

Fitting a dashcam to a Motability Scheme car?
If you’re considering fitting a dashcam to your Scheme car, here’s what you need to know:The dashcam must be plug in type and not hard wired into the vehicle
It must be attached in such a way as to not cause damage to the vehicle (eg fixed by suckers and not permanantely attached to the dashboard)
Any associated costs must be covered by you (including the purchase of the dashcam and any fitting/removal costs)
Your dealer may also be able to help advise you on purchasing and installing a dashcamceoemail.com ??
Kia Rio 1.4 . auto only £299 AP max
I believe the RSA excess is £100 for over 25, whatever the car. Any repair has to be made through Motability/RSA. I feel sure that any other repair would be against the contract you have with Motability and you might have to bear the consequences.
September 15, 2020 at 3:24 pm in reply to: Automatic I can get my quickie helium wheelchair in – recommendations? #123853I think you will find that really small cars will take your wheelchair, take it along to a garage or two to give it a try.
Our tiny Picanto automatic takes a folded wheelchair ( Karma Ergolite 2 leased for £100 through Motability) without removing “foot plates” or wheels vertically with a bungee strap around rear headrest to stop it wobbling around. Rear seats unaffected. Currently no Picanto or i10 autos on scheme, maybe when you order. Suzuki Ignis may also suit If auto is on scheme.
These cars don’t even take all your weekly PIP
Should think they will be a very rare sight on the roads.
Motability/Kwikfit won’t let you change tyres as you would yourself, they have to be right on the limit in my experience.
You may have put the cart before the horse by ordering the car before arranging the grant.
However I would think that another phone call wouldn’t go amiss – I am sure it will get sorted.

Eloquently put?

Sorry if my post seemed critical, it was not meant to be. I do realise that we are entitled to enjoy the car in additional ways to the practicalities.

Surely we can have different opinions on why people choose a car without resorting to name calling.
File28
Yes, I imagine they are a popular gift for such an event.
I still consider that the majority of Motability customers have to consider the practicalities of the car to suit the user’s disabilities over the the looks and performance of the car. I am surprised, but not critical, by other people’s ” first priority” or the fact they get their “smile from a different source ”
Each to their own when it comes to deciding on a car but practicality has to win for me.
Probably “prettier, faster, better handling” aren’t the most important requirements of the average Motability customer.
This is going to start a storm!!
Why have personalised plates?
Surely the ease of getting into, comfort and ability to carry any equipment beats everything else with your choice.

I agree with what you say, but the disabled probably can’t all be at the forefront of EV driving, there are so many other considerations for them. It will happen for all eventually.

By the time range improves, charging is quick and available everywhere then government will need to be clawing in tax from EV motorists.
It’s only the intrepid few Motability EV guinea pigs that will currently make massive savings on fuel costs, but hats off to them if they can do it.
Make hay while the sun shines, but we will all get there in the next five or so years at a more sustainable cost to the government!

Thanks for reply, hope you enjoy your car when it comes.

I am sure unintentionally, but your post doesn’t help other nervous folk who can’t afford, can’t accommodate or who drive cars other than this Volvo.
Cars such as the Corsa are popular on the scheme and affordable to the many.
Bionic
But far less subtle than the BMW’s. More Ssansongy methinks! Strange detail for the usually conservative luxury Volvo brand IMO.
Not sure about the high kick-up at rear side windows for visibility. Looks similar to Ssangyong Rexton

Drop the “Menorca” and replace with “MPG”, but I hope you eventually find what you are looking for. You’re certainly doing the research!!
Can’t find posts but some posters have got extensions with higher mileages. You may want to start new thread to find out?
