Yep, same problem as you. I don’t drive very often at night now but bought a cheap pair of clip-on yellow lenses from Amazon and they have helped a fair bit. Don’t know if it’s my frames but I do find these clip-ons can spring off if I touch them when driving. If you don’t touch them then fine. 😉

I’d just go into the surgery and ask the receptionist if they’ve got a clean coffee mug I can borrow for a couple of minutes. 😉😆

Thanks so much for that Joss. Provides *some* small relief from all their awful, ongoing rhetoric and demonisation of chronically disabled people … for now at least.

I’m one thing with physical disabilities but my poor brother in law who has terrible mental health issues is beyond consoling these days with the non stop rhetoric being dished out and it’s already been a full time job for my sister keeping a watch on him to ensure his safety. The lockdown years were bad enough when he’d flip after being caged in at home and go AWOL and having to get the police helicopter out looking for the poor fella to try and save him from himself so add all this on top now a couple of years later & he just can’t cope.

The whole welfare system and the dangerous, merciless rhetoric from various officials is absolutely disgusting. It sickens me at the damage they do just with cruel words. 😡

Play on words for the old signed up dealerships methinks :- “Partners in its franchised network are shifting to agency model contracts which position them as a service provider for Volvo, which will be the retailer.”

Exactly this. It is now an agency model.

All Volvo dealers are now is basically a shop front. You order a car and after that it’s over to Volvo UK with the dealer having very little allowed input or information provided by Volvo on the order until the car (finally) arrives on their premises.

Yep, that was all i had to wait for my CLA a few months ago. Superb service after 7 months of a nightmare and zero updates from my previous Volvo order. Couldnt be happier with my car either. 😄

It seems that there is a consensus at Stellantis who as you may know run Fiat, Abarth, vauxhall, peugeot to try to force many to only have an EV choice, when now many older folk and some younger as well do not want EV and still want either hybrid non plug in or pure petrols still. And many who buy cars are choosing to steer clear of EVS due to many factors one that they may not want or cannot charge at home, and the cost of insurance which as many EV accidents are having to be written off due to safety of battery damage which cannot be checked for damage. It has finally sunk in that EV as they stand are not really if buying are not fit for purpose and many manufacturers such as VW recently have said they are cutting production of there EV due to low take up. Just look at how many Petrol Abarths could have been still sold in uk and producing jobs still with new orders yet we are not allowed to have them due to Gov interference fines to Manufacturers of up to £15000 if not enough EV are sold it is like a quota system and quite frankly we have no choice anymore.

Agree with all that. It’s one thing leasing an EV but who in their right mind would even consider buying one with their own cash? I don’t know a single person and for all the obvious reasons with insane depreciation being at No1. The dream is over, even for leasing. The leasing and PCP model isn’t built to take factor of colossal depreciation and it cannot continue in it’s current form otherwise these companies will all go under.

Stellantis of course are yet another manufacturer who have changed to there useless agency sales model so I predict things to get even worse for customers ordering from them. They’ve just announced that they are fitting a 1 L petrol engine to the 500 EV platform for 2025 as already they just can’t move the purpose built 500E in its present form.

Shame about Abarth, I know the petrol cars are long in the tooth now but by far the best fun I’ve ever had in a car when I had one in Motability some 9 years ago before needing a bigger vehicle, still brings a smile now! 😁👍

The market ALWAYS decides these things.

They can threaten, ban, mandate, steer all they want but if the people don’t buy into it …

Exactly Chris! Ive already sent sent a complaint to Hyundai UK, requesting it be user defined off by default, as its just another pointless series of bing bongs.

If only! It’s just such a frustrating circle, isn’t it? Get into car, start car. Get menu on screen to turn off speed bongs and active “pothole finder” assist. Clear screens, drive off. And repeat EVERY single stinkin journey! 😞

I don’t know about other new cars but on my new Mercedes CLA another stupid intervention is “active brake assist” which I’ve realised today you cannot switch off no matter what you do. You can set it to a less sensitive setting, even switch it off if you delve into the main menus each and every trip. But …even when switched off it still is on its lowest setting. Want to drift downhill towards a waiting queue of traffic and then gently brake as you get close? Nope, forget that. Active brake assist is going to intervene and brake for you way in advance no matter what *you* want. Grrrr 😡

                            1. The scheme is effectively over if it carries on like this. But … maybe … that is exactly what’s intended perhaps? Taking it down from inside its very structure. I believe this is what we’re seeing.

If you were to play Motability Bingo, you would choose one of the following:

                              • Motability are coining it in and are putting up the prices to give everyone a massive bonus
                              • The AP’s have increased to keep pace with the price increases of new cars
                              • The cost of new small cars (historically where Motability raised a surplus) has increased at a faster rate than larger cars ‘Europe’s five biggest carmakers have raised the prices of their cheapest models by an average of 41% since 2019
                              • We are all paying for the massive investment in order to make Motability the leader in EV sales, cost of charging points to customers, reducing AP’s on very expensive Electric cars etc.
                              • Car makers are snookered by fines and legislation and are having to increase prices at a ridiculous rate in order to not go bust.
                              • The Scheme has grown at its fastest rate ever, the only way to slow the growth is to raise prices
                              • It’s the Tories – They did it.
                              • A combination of the above.

Lol Well, it has to be a combination of some of those. As to which ones who knows? We do know that the current government wants to do away with PIP as it currently exists I suppose.

Bearing in mind the surplus of funds Motability have been carrying for a number of years now it seems somewhat odd considering they claim to be a charity. The current prices, overall for a disabled person requiring a vehicle to be used for transporting a mobility scooter or wheelchair etc, are certainly not going to benefit someone who needs help. Levelling up? 😬

Soooo… had the call this Eve, collection Friday and time booked in! It’s all systems go…Superb timing from docks to transportation up here …. Now for the drama 🤦🏼‍♀️ The car that has been delivered IS my original order, from December (Higher Ap) But that’s just the ARN (order number) once in build it’s the MY25!.. Don’t worry obvs not paying no higher AP and was expecting the MY25, ok fine with this. My 2nd order in February is currently being built for July delivery…. ALONG WITH a 3rd Car in my name!? My dealer was just banging his head against a brick wall with fleet order, it’s the biggest mess I’ve ever experienced in my entire life My silver lining is my car is here I shall send proof of life on Friday, and to the other cars that are in my name and on the production line…. Erm 🫤 PASS 🤦🏼‍♀️ Steph x

                                Great news Steph😄👍

And the Volvo CLOWN show continues! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 You really couldn’t make it all up, could you? Just when many of us on this thread who’ve ordered 6+ months ago think it couldn’t get any more farcical … it does! I think it’s only fair now that you get all 3 cars. lol 😂 😜

Did you read the EX-30 threads? Poor people getting their orders cancelled now because the cars are so full of faults and problems Volvo refusing to supply them. How Volvo were ever let back onto Motability after being removed a couple of months ago I really don’t know. It’s just not fair or right that sick & disabled people with plenty of problems as it is should have to suffer even more stress and headaches dealing with these utter imbeciles who can’t seem to run a booze up in a brewery! 😡

I’m so glad I jumped ship and zero regrets (it was damaging my health trying to get honesty from these clowns!) even though I had to pay a lot more for a car but I really feel for you all still waiting and hope you all get the just outcome you all rightly deserve and very soon. 🙏

Only difference between B3 & B4 is the mapping of the engine. Both exactly the same 2.0 engine using exactly the same components. I highly doubt if the fuel consumption of the B4 is significantly worse than the B3. All depends on your right foot really. 😜

Most car makers use this gimmick these days with bhp making it look like you’re getting a different engine. If you were allowed to do this on Motability (you’re not, obviously) all you’d have to do is add a tuning box to obtain the higher bhp output & acceleration etc for relative peanuts.

Hi All Glad the card are finally filtering through, can I ask please what is the four day rule?

See my reply to Steph just below your post.

Basically let’s say your car arrives at dealers tomorrow on Monday. The dealer then has to make an appointment with you to collect your car, handover. Once that dealer makes that confirmed collection date it cannot be any sooner than 4 days away so that Motability can do all they need to do with documentation etc at their end. So – if dealer were to make the appointment with you the day the car arrived at the dealers, Monday, you cannot collect the car for handover any earlier than Friday.

Hope I’ve explained that ok. 😊

No worries. Yeah, the 4 day rule always applies as it then allows Motability the time needed to get all the documentation sorted etc before you collect your car. If it hadn’t been for that I could have collected mine from the dealer in just 8 days from ordering.

As Volvo are so useless make sure to remind your dealer about the 4 day rule. I.e. – A confirmed handover date must be at least 4 days after setting it. Otherwise it might delay you getting the car unless he sets a date with you at the earliest possible moment.

I could call it “sipper” I guess as we’ve gone up to Lincolnshire on hols for a few days and incredibly the car did 59 mpg to get up here. I’d heard so many stories from members on here saying they drank petrol for fun but it’s been superb, getting a minimum of 42 mpg even just doing short journeys. Reckon it must be the new mild hybrid stuff recently added to these.

I’m so pleased for you and totally amazed when car orders placed January and February still appear to be on the ‘being made’ list, including mine. Where in the country are you please? Some areas seem to have had better availability than others, maybe down to transporters or some other reason? But then again, that wouldn’t count for the build dates we are being given. I’m so thankful we have our car to use whilst waiting but I hate bad customer service and never expected it from Volvo.

I’m in Gloucestershire same as nshaw. I don’t know what went on really, so many things said at the time as you know by customers, dealers, forums about the reasons for delays and I don’t think we’ll ever know the true answers. But .. these were the earliest orders and MY24 cars, all the cars coming through are now MY25’s so clearly for whatever reasons our ordered cars were never built to begin with. It stinks!

@nshaw thanks, really hope your car comes soon! Ordered my car from Sytner Mercedes-Benz in Bristol instead of Gloucester as I’d already had a great experience with them 5 years ago with my last MB GLA there. And if anything the service this time was even better, they’ve definitely had training for Motability customers I’d say as everyone from reception staff to the salesman were absolutely brilliant and (unlike Volvo!!) kept their word on every single thing they said and have gone overboard in their service to me. Even had a phone call from dealer the next day asking me if I was happy with the car and were there any issues they could help with. It’s all been a bit overwhelming I must say. lol 😆👍👍

I can’t understand how you find getting mobility scooter in out of cla easy ?? But you like that’s main thing .

Micky, it’s a fold up Travelscoot that looks like this assembled but once you take the seat off folds with 2 clicks to the size of a golf bag so just about fits lengthways unlike most cars I’ve tested.
