Hi, not new to the forum but cannot recall username or password so have registered again! The forum is as always forever helpful.
Ive just signed up for a Volvo xc40 petrol automatic soft hybrid in Pearl white after a great test drive and excellent service from ‘Ben’ at Crawley showroom. Was a little tempted by the pale blue but it seemed a little too flat for me and I always love white! Felt very informed, valued and happy with our choice. May date given but I’m not banking on that but was assured to contact him anytime for updates. Seamless application accompanied by coffees.
Currently have a Peugeot 3008 and will be happy to wave it goodbye but my other half not as much so! ? - CreatorTopic

Oh my word, I hope it wasn’t anyone from this thread … not that you want it to happen to anybody obviously. Poor man, like so many on here he waited over 6 months and then this happened. So lucky to get his baby granddaughter out! 😢

July 18, 2024 at 9:43 pm #285218Car collected and it feels really good. Solid and sturdy, lots to learn about controls and various bits but very nice. So pleased this pantomime is now over!
July 20, 2024 at 11:13 am #285333I am a newby as have only just found this website. Congratulations to everyone who has managed to receive their XC40, especially Ellyr5, and hope you all have many happy miles ahead. Why am I here? Simple, I ordered my Motability replacement back in March and still waiting. This does seem common reading the comments on this site. I have had conversations with my dealer, but to no avail. I was disappointed when he told me the dealer’s build slot was sometime in June and I ordered in March. Mind you there was one advantage of ordering in March as I avoided the advance payment price hike which came on 1st April. Back to the various comments on this site. It sounds like the problem is not in Volvo’s factory, but is at Bristol docks – not enough transporters? My dealer just keeps on saying that he cannot get any up to date info from Volvo UK. I just cannot accept this. How can Volvo dealerships survive without Volvo UK dispensing information on vehicle orders?
July 25, 2024 at 7:05 pm #285663Turns out dealer wasn’t fobbing me off.
I have a supposed pick up day of 39th July.

July 28, 2024 at 3:30 pm #285812I thought the 39th was not a typo. The way everything is going I reckon Volvo has a different calendar to everybody else!

Orders from march onwards seem to be coming through quicker. It’s bizarre. What else is bizarre is all those MY24 sat there whilst 25s are going straight to customer 🤷♂️

July 29, 2024 at 8:34 pm #285894Another one ticked off the list. Collected this morning. Weird driving something so new. All the tech in these compared to older cars.
Still. It’s a nice car and the drive height is perfect for me. As well as getting in the thing.I like sitting outside RAF bases all day pretending to be a photogramapher

July 30, 2024 at 9:19 am #285919Congrats Frank on finally collecting your XC40. Many happy motoring miles.
You, or was it anarchy, who mentioned that cars ordered in March are coming through a bit quicker. I ordered mine in March and there is no sign of it. Mind you, I eventually found out that my dealer’s build slot wasn’t until June!
I suppose I will get a delivery date of 39th August.

It was me that mentioned it. It’s not all orders from march/April I may note. There is an influx of newer orders coming in quicker than older ones. A lot from April onwards have been delivered. I’ve a feeling newer orders coming straight from factory to dealer to minimise clogging of the car parks full of Volvo’s. Older orders seem to be getting put in wherever there’s a slot to be made/shipped. I may be wrong but seeing how things are and have been for the past year it seems that’s what’s happening. Stepdad works on the roro and Volvos coming in daily. Most go straight out within 24hrs whilst older stock is stuck with no extra transport to clear them from the port.

August 11, 2024 at 11:17 am #286671Hi. I didn’t wanna start a new thread, can anyone confirm if the ex30 is actually available to order. I’ve heard and read conflicting information about whether I can order is as my next car or not? It’s on the Volvo site and the Motability site, for whatever that’s worth.

Looks like it is ‘stock only’ according to the Volvo UK website, i.e. not available as a ‘new build’:
September 1, 2024 at 1:47 pm #287737I collected mine today, it arrived around 3 weeks ago at the dealer from 1st Feb order – it is a My25 spec . I could have collected it on a 24 plate but an extra 3 weeks out of 7 months seemed insignificant, so asked them to hold on and register it as a 74 plate, I have never had a new car on the first day of the new plate, so a little treat to myself after a long wait !
The car itself, I am very pleased with in the 20 miles I have driven it. I did have a wobble whilst waiting and have been looking at others, while I could cancel the order, but the AP of £1499 was the main factor, as well as the wonderful Volvo seats which are so comfortable for me.
I asked about current lead times for anyone ordering now and the dealer said it was 5-6 months, in case this is helpful for anyone.
September 9, 2024 at 10:40 pm #288214Hi all, an XC40 is on my shortlist as I can order a new car in Nov. A friend of mine took me for a test drive in a virtually brand new XC40 he has as a loan car whilst his XC60 is in the garage. The rear seats seemed really firm and not really comfortable (leg room was good and front seats were great) and I am wondering what others peoples opinions were, especially any feedback from those family members who regularly sit in the back?
The car I was in had 20” alloys which didn’t help by the way.
thanks
October 1, 2024 at 4:27 pm #289812Seems these are coming through much quicker now. Picking mine up that I ordered mid July next week!
And the AP has dropped again with today’s October update
