Without the scheme a lot of us would be driving unreliable old bangers and wondering if the car would even make it to the next hospital appointment.
We’ve been on the scheme for over 20 years, nothing comes close. If the AP’s continue to climb over the next 3 years then this next car I have ordered will be the last I get on Motability as it will be just too expensive to do in future and I will look towards 3ish year old used cars to buy outright or nearly new on a private lease with a mileage add-on and a warranty.
I think the Allspace we just ordered will be our last big car, and will have to seriously consider if the scheme is worth it for us in 3 years time. Three years of mobility payments plus a big AP is not that competitive for a small car IMO.
Nobody should be drinking and driving, there is no ‘safe amount’ IMO.

We paid a £250 refundable deposit for our Tiguan which is fair enough as we specced heated seats at £285. When we ordered the Alhambra the dealer wanted £500 non refundable! They got told where to go…

What’s the rush…Hi Andy, just been posting on other threads on similar subjects. I too have a diesel dsg Alhambra, however because of low miles and a lot of around town driving, I only get 31 mpg and suffer clogging DPF. Have you suffered similar or do you do the miles? Regards, wonky
Never had a problem with dpf, but we do a mix of town and motorway regularly, and about 10,000 miles a year.It is one of the questions the salesman asked.
If ever a car was made for a diesel engine, it’s the Terraco / Tiguan range.
We’ve just ordered an Allspace this morning with the 150 ps diesel engine, no way I would go petrol with a car that size. That MPG figure is horrendous :/
We’re due to order in the last days of December, not a great situation but I suspect AP’s will go up, especially as we are looking at the Tiguan Allspace which is currently a bit of a bargain. I could easily see that going up a couple of hundred pounds, or even disappearing from the scheme due to the ridiculous waiting times to delivery.
Have they replaced or resealed the front windscreen in a bid to fix the leak ?
Nope. I told them I think it’s the windscreen, they are convinced it’s the roof rail. They’re not listening to me, they know best.

I had a nightmare with Autoglass a few years ago. The fitter turned up with the screen to our Audi A4, great I thought, we looked around the car and he noted no damage inside or out. I said I’d make him a coffee so went in to leave him to it. my wife was watching out of the window and she saw the fitter get in the car, put both boots up on the screen and boot the glass out, causing it to shatter everywhere. she called me as the doorbell went, the fitter said the screen broke as he tried to lift it out. I told him my wife had watched him boot it from inside. I went out to look and he’d damaged the dashboard, scratched the touchscreen on the radio. Cut himself and bled all over my seat and carpets and steering wheel, broke the rear view mirror with all the sensors and to top it off scratched the paint on both wings the bonnet and the uprights each side of the screen and all the vents were full of glass. Then it rained. He apologised gave me his managers mobile to ring and drove away???!! understandably I was so angry I thought I’d pop a vein. Anyway it took weeks and several attempts to get everything sorted. But I have to say I’ve had screens fitted since with no problems, thank god.
I hope you didn’t make him that coffee!
I highly suspect Motability will treat Tesla in the same way it does JLR and we won’t get anywhere near them.
November 12, 2019 at 4:41 pm in reply to: New 2020 Citroen C5 Aircross Hybrid launched with £35k price tag #96254Motability will certainly have to rethink its EV policy going forward. Our next car will be diesel, but in just over 3 years time I would really like some serious EV options on the scheme.
For all the complaints we see about motability, it has been an absolute lifesaver for us.

I’m really surprised it doesn’t have height adjustable seatbelts. That one thing alone would put my wife off ordering one.
What a strange omission from BMW.We are due to change next year, but it won’t be electric, I don’t they they are quite there for our needs just yet. When I can drive from the midlands to Scotland non stop I will consider it.
As long as it doesn’t come with a ridiculous £2000+ ap.If one does it, they all will.

I highly suspect kev here is a typical DM reader just here to stir things and attack people for being disabled and getting a ”free car”October 27, 2019 at 6:25 pm in reply to: Went To Look at Mercedes :-Seats were tight space between seats tight #93883So surely you should be incredibly grateful that the scheme exists and not be complaining that you can’t get a ridiculously powered car on it.

I suspect so.
October 27, 2019 at 4:28 pm in reply to: Went To Look at Mercedes :-Seats were tight space between seats tight #93847Big thumbs up for that post Winston. We’ve been on the scheme since 1997, our first motability car was a Ford Escort estate, and we were over the moon, before that we had always had sub £1000 bangers. We had a look at a C class 3 year ago, wasn’t impressed, but then I’ve never been a ‘badge snob’
As for ‘premium’ they don’t do well in the reliability league tables either.I think our next car will be diesel, I’m hoping three years from now electric vehicles will have become a lot more mainstream, and there is a decent choice.
