The SEAT Tarraco’s range has been expanded with the addition of a new front-wheel-drive, seven-speed automatic petrol powertrain
SEAT has added a new front-wheel-drive, automatic-equipped petrol powertrain to the Tarraco’s line-up. The updated seven-seat SUV is available to order now, priced from £29,900 for the entry-level SE model, climbing to £33,485 for the range-topping XCellence Lux variant. First deliveries are expected in early 2020.

The turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine is the same unit found in the current model, developing 148bhp and 250Nm of torque. However, for the first time on a Tarraco, it sends its power to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

SEAT says the new front-wheel drive powertrain gives the Tarraco a 0–62mph time of 9.5 seconds and a top speed of 123mph – making it 0.2 seconds quicker to 62mph than the equivalent manual model. Economy and emissions are a claimed 35.2mpg and 163g/km of CO2.

Standard equipment on the entry-level SE model includes 17-inch alloy wheels, three-zone climate control, an eight-inch infotainment system and LED headlamps. Buyers also get a host of safety equipment, including roll over assist, lane assist, cruise control, rear parking sensors and a full suite of air-bags.

The upper-mid-range XCellence model comes with 20-inch alloy wheels, rear privacy glass, ambient interior lighting, heated front and rear seats, an uprated eight-inch infotainment system with sat-nav and an electrically operated tailgate. There’s also additional safety equipment, including adaptive cruise control and a 360-degree camera.

The only person who got all his work done by Friday was Robinson Crusoe.

        That’s a big car for a 1.5 148 bhp petrol engine.

Plus if they are stating 35mpg official figure, then expect to see mid to high 20’s.
plus it’s 100nm down on torque over the TDI, that’s a big chunk to loose.

it’s pretty baffling why they make these big heavy cars and pair with these petrol engines surely diesel is the way to go until an electric version can do 500 miles and be recharged in 5 mins and doesn’t cost the earth lol,

nice motors , but whether it’s a VW family, Kuga, XC40 , CX5 etc but with the mpg of a WW2 Sherman tank and acceleration to match it doesn’t add up to me ?

well it makes no difference to me but personally I’d never consider one

If ever a car was made for a diesel engine, it’s the Terraco / Tiguan range.
We’ve just ordered an Allspace this morning with the 150 ps diesel engine, no way I would go petrol with a car that size.

Hi all,   very interesting comments about Terraco/Tiguan needing a Diesel engine,

I’ve just been commenting on another thread about the Sharan/Alhambra which are bigger ,heavier vehicles.  Some feedback is saying the 1.4 petrol engine can pull these vehicles, although mpg isn’t good.

Surely the 1.5 petrol engine can pull the Terraco/Tiguan,   or does anyone disagree?

I am very interested in this point as I am changing in the new year and as my diesel Alhambra clogs up and gives poor mpg around town, I am considering going petrol. However I still need a large vehicle , which traditionally has meant diesel, then along came DPFs!!  Diesels like being warmed up and doing the miles.

                Any thoughts appreciated.

                Regards, wonky

These small engines, even if turbocharged, will move the cars around but will really struggle to move quickly or overtake. I was dead set again a 1.4 Zafira but my wife really liked it. It was truly hopeless with us struggling to get it into the 30’s for mpg. My 18d X1, with similar mileage, returns 50+ and is really torquey. That’s a big difference.
However, if you only do town/short journeys then a small engine will do if it gets you the car you want.
                    Good luck.

? I will be remembered for nothing but had great fun doing it ?

i have the smaller ateca 1.4 dsg which has the same power 148bhp it pulls the ateca with ease it fact i would say the ateca is very nippy..i’m due for renewal next year and was thinking of the tarraco ..my thoughts are that the 150 petrol and the 150 diesel have very similar performance figures and are also very similar to the tiguan 150 dsg  ..my ateca is approx 1 second quicker 0 to 60 so the tarraco i want is the 190 diesel..you cannot get the excellence lux which has the winter pack (heated seats) with the dsg or 190 engine ..i wanted the heated seats for my back so i will have to do without..wish they did it as an option like vw

To be totally honest with you, Wonky, It baffles me when I hear people say the 1.4TSi is powerless in a big SUV.  I’ve had my Kodiaq SE L 1.4TSi coming up to two years now.  In that time I’ve never experienced any power loss, gutless performance, or any trouble overtaking. Even when I’ve been loaded with 22 75lt bags of compost, it just zips along.  I came back to petrol as I only do about 6,500 a year and I was worried about loss of toque, but I can say, only from my Kodiaq experience, that I need not have worried.  I would have no qualms about recommending this petrol engine.

The 1.5 is just to under powered theres been a lot of complaints especially on hills and then you have the people that bought a 1.5 and try to tow lol
