Topic: Buying my lease car
Hi guys,
im looking to buy my car at the end of my lease, never done this before, I have tried various routes to try and get an idea, of what it could roughly cost me. I was wondering if any of you could let me know some of the prices you have paid. I have an Audi q3. Thank you for any feedback.
Article
We have come a long way from there only being a handful of electric cars available to buy. There is now a considerable choice available, in a range of styles and budgets, with more models due to arrive later this year.
Having seen a number of EVs launched in the past few months, we’ve updated our price-per-mile guide, which looks at one aspect of an EV’s affordability – how much it costs to buy a mile of range in a new EV.
We’ve highlighted the best value model in the manufacturer’s line-up as the champion for each particular badge. Note that the table shows base models only – other trim, OTRs and ranges may be available.
All figures shown are compiled by Next Green Car based on OTR of base models including the UK Plug-in Car Grant (PiCG) at £3,000 where available and applicable, and official WLTP range supplied by manufacturers.

Skoda has taken the top spot in this table with its first EV. A combination of decent range and relatively low price have seen the Citigo-e iV snatch the lead away at the first attempt from the previous incumbent, Renault’s Zoe. However, it was a close run thing.
The Zoe remains excellent value for money, and is only just pipped to the post. With less than a pound per mile in it, the figures have both been rounded to £108 per mile. In fact the Skoda scrapes into the high £107s while the Zoe is in the low £108s.
The Zoe had only just regained the top of the table on our last analysis in October, having held the top spot for a many of the initial analysis pieces. The previous generation lost its title when the Hyundai Kona Electric and Kia e-Niro came along, but the current version retook the lead last time around.
It says a lot about the recent surge in affordable EVs coming to market that the Kia e-Niro, which only last year was rated as the best value EV in terms of price-per-mile of range, is now only sixth – still a highly respectable placing.
If the competition for first place was tight, the fight for third was no less fierce. Peugeot’s e-208 has pipped the new Kia Soul EV to the post, again with less than a pound’s difference, and both figures rounded to £122. Just £2 per mile covers places three to six.
Seat’s Mii is the Spanish brand’s equivalent of the Skoda Citigo-e iV, sharing a powertrain, platform, and battery with both it and VW’s e-up!. As such, it was always going to be a question of price as to which of the electric triumvirate triumphed, and Skoda has pitched its EV cheapest.
The VW has long been hampered in this analysis by a relatively short range and fairly high price. This new version offers a much longer range at a lower price, and sees the e-up! shoot up the table to seventh.
The now well-established Kona Electric continues to offer premium EV driving range at a fraction of the cost, comfortably seeing the crossover EV into the top ten, whilst Ford’s new EV does well straight of the box.
The Mustang Mach-E comes in ninth ahead of the Vauxhall e-Corsa (the British manufacturer’s version of Peugeot’s e-208) in its best value guise, the Standard Range rear-wheel drive version – its entry-level model.
Analysis
The Ford is one of a number of models that is starting to present us with a (welcome) headache when compiling this list. As the electric car market develops, we’re starting to see more choice within an EV’s model range.A number of EVs now present different options under a single badge or body style, be it battery capacity, motor power, or both. Having only been the preserve of Tesla initially, there is now choice in a wide number of models.
The pioneering Leaf has both the standard 40 kWh model, plus the longer range and more powerful e+. The Zoe has two different motors on offer, Audi has expanded the e-tron range to the entry-level 50 under the standard 55, and added the sleeker e-tron Sportback.
It is perhaps Ford that presents the largest choice of any single-badge EV currently. It has four different powertrain combinations, while Porsche has three with a key battery option effectively making it four. All this means we’ve decided to display only the best value model for each name/body style, rather than present each different powertrain.
This means that the Mustang Mach-E and Taycan, as well as the Leaf, e-tron, and Kona Electric, plus less obvious models like the Zoe, BMW i3, and the new Honda e only have one listing per badge, with the best value version presented. Where this has taken place, we have listed the model’s powertrain that represents best value for money in terms of price vs range.
This increased choice is one change in this latest version of our analysis. The other key development is the removal of the Plug-in Car Grant for those EVs costing more than £50,000, and the reduction by £500 to £3,000 for the rest of the pure-electric market.
It means prices have shifted, and those models costing more than the grant threshold have seen their price vs range value increase, while some manufacturers have absorbed much of the cost change, or prices have been altered to keep the model under the crucial £50,000 mark.
Looking at the market overall, it’s clear when looking at the table that the majority of EVs now have a range of more than 200 miles, and only the Smart line-up sees these figures drop below the 100 mile mark.
Newer entries from Mini, Mazda, and Honda haven’t focused on outright driving range, which sees them come in at under 150 miles, but it is the 150+ miles available from the VW, Seat, and Skoda – combined with a low OTR – that sees all three towards the top of the list. These three EVs and the four models from the PSA Group – Peugeot, Vauxhall, and DS – are driving accessibility to EVs in core markets.
What’s clear is that more choice is available than ever before, and that driving ranges on offer comfortably cover regular trips. There’s everything from budget EVs at less than £20,000 with a range of more than 150 miles on a charge, to long-distance machines from the likes of Tesla, Jaguar, Kia, and Hyundai; with sporty stuff from Porsche, Mini, and Honda mixing it with family friendly models from the likes of MG.
With models in the key supermini and crossover markets from the likes of Mini, Peugeot, and Vauxhall, EVs are increasing in visibility for those that would normally pop into a showroom to pick up a Corsa, 208, or Mini Hatch.
Our notes
All models listed use the official WLTP range figure, which we have found to be a reasonable and achievable distance on the whole during day-to-day driving. Clearly various driving styles, environments, and weather conditions will have an effect on the range available from a single charge, but we are yet to find a WLTP figure that seems unattainable. To be included in the list, all models must have a UK price confirmed – with or without PiCG – which is why the likes of the VW ID.3 and BMW iX3 are not yet factored in. They will appear in future updates.
As mentioned above, all model pricing is inclusive of the £3,000 UK Plug-in Car Grant where applicable. Where models aren’t yet approved by OLEV for the grant because they are too new, as long as they meet Category 1 regulations and are expected to come in beneath the price cap, we have applied the grant ourselves to make for a fairer comparison.
Model OTR is that quoted by the manufacturer, and does not include any deals or offers that may be available.
While we hope that this simple but useful metric will help if you are looking to buy an EV, it is worth remembering that price-vs-range is only one aspect of choosing which EV is right for you. As new models become available, we will attempt to update the table to reflect the changes they bring, so keep checking back for more information.
New spy images show what appears to be an R performance variant of the Volkswagen Tiguan testing at the Nurburgring.
While initially appearing to be an example of the high-end Tiguan R-Line, tell-tale signs that this is something more special include a visible intercooler behind the lower air intake, larger brakes and, most notably, the same quad tailpipes as the Golf R hatchback.
A subtly reworked front end and other styling tweaks compared with previous Tiguan R prototypes indicate that it will likely make its official debut when the standard Tiguan is facelifted later this year. The Tiguan will be the third model in Volkswagen’s range to receive the R treatment, sitting above the newly launched T-Roc R and below the forthcoming plug-in hybrid Touareg R.
Speaking to Autocar recently, R division boss Jost Capito spoke candidly about the idea of a Tiguan R. “I can see a place for a Tiguan R,” he said. “We’ve seen the good things that can be achieved with the T-Roc, but the Tiguan would be a different kind of car. It would have to be more of an everyday model, like the Touareg.”
The first time a performance-enhanced Tiguan mule was seen testing was in 2017, when snappers caught a prototype featuring a five-cylinder turbocharged engine likely sourced from the Audi RS Q3.
It’s thought that a hot Tiguan was delayed for two significant reasons. First, the model was shuffled down the priority order while the Volkswagen Group rushed to homologate its cars under the new WLTP testing regime. Second, the launch of Cupra as a brand in its own right meant a hot Seat Ateca was pushed to the front of the development queue.
The Tiguan R is expected to now feature the same 296bhp EA888 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit as found in a number of Volkswagen Group performance models, including the Cupra Ateca and Golf R. Mated to four-wheel drive and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, it should mean a 0-62mph time of around 5.0sec. Chassis upgrades will feature, too.
No confirmation of a launch date has been communicated yet. However, the sighting of these prototypes adds weight to earlier rumours that a Tiguan R would launch before the year is out.
At the unveiling of the smaller T-Roc R, Capito said that his task is to make the sub-brand “to Volkswagen what M is for BMW”. He went on to say: “For the future, the Golf and T-Roc will not be the only ones, that’s for sure.”
The only person who got all his work done by Friday was Robinson Crusoe.
Anything i post over three lines long please assume it is an article lol.Stumbled upon this list this morning.
It surprised me that a few are still in production

The Volkswagen Group has become the latest major car manufacturer to confirm it will suspend production at selected plants in the coming days, in light of the ongoing worldwide Coronavirus pandemic.
Speaking during the Volkswagen Group’s 2020 annual media conference – which was held online to avoid attendees gathering – CEO Herbert Diess explained that factories in European countries with the worst outbreaks, such as Italy and Spain, will suspend production first.
“The health and safety of employees and their families is the most important priority in the situation and the objective is to slow down the spread as much as possible,” explained Diess.
“To that end we at VW have taken a number of measures. Given the present deterioration in the sales situation and heightened uncertainty regarding parts supplies to our plants, production is to be suspended very soon at our factories in the near future.”
Production at Volkswagen Group plants in Spain, Portugal, Slovenia and Italy will halt “before the end of this week,” affecting a number of models from a number of different VW Group marques.
SEAT’s factory in Martorell, Spain will be badly affected, with the site also the build location of the Audi A1 and Q3. The group’s Palmela site in Portugal is primarily responsible for European VW T-Roc assembly, and over in Bratislava, production of the Group’s city car trio – the VW up!, SEAT Mii and Skoda Citigo – looks set to be suspended, along with a range of SUVs such as the VW Touareg, Porsche Cayenne and Audi Q7. In Italy, Lamborghini and Ducati production lines will also halt.
According to Diess, most other Volkswagen plants will begin to suspend within the next two weeks, but some facilities will not be affected at all, which will be confirmed soon.
“We are temporarily reducing capacity and securing logistics chains,” said Diess, who also confirmed that some sites in China were to reopen shortly, following a strong reduction in the number of new cases of Covid-19 recorded in the country

Alfa Romeo’s third SUV will be available with petrol and all-electric powertrains, and our exclusive images preview how it could look
Alfa Romeo has refocused its future product plan and will launch a new baby crossover designed to rival the Nissan Juke in the next two years. The crossover will also be the Italian company’s first model to be offered with the option of fully electric power, official documents have revealed. The firm was relatively late bringing its first SUV, the Stelvio, to market in 2017 and since then Alfa has yet to broaden its SUV offering. Aware that it is losing out on valuable market share and profits, Alfa is refocusing its SUV plans and will bring two smaller models to market in the next 24 months. The first will be a version of the Tonale concept, first seen at last year’s Geneva Motor Show, but a smaller electric crossover will follow.
The recent merger between Alfa’s owner, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), and Groupe PSA, which owns Peugeot, Citroen and Vauxhall, gives Alfa Romeo access to all of the necessary mechanical running gear to get a compact, fully electric crossover to market quickly. PSA’s strength in developing electric vehicles was one of the
While unconfirmed, it’s almost certain that the future crossover will be based upon the Compact Modular Platform (CMP) that is used as a basis for the Peugeot e-208 and Vauxhall Corsa-e. Currently the architecture can accommodate a 50kWh lithium-ion battery pack and one electric motor that drives the front axle for a maximum range of around 200 miles. For a compact B-segment crossover it’s unlikely Alfa will change the set-up of the architecture to accommodate four-wheel drive, given the car’s expected use as urban transport. This will also help keep the cost of the vehicle down.
As well as a fully electric option, Alfa will offer conventional petrol engines for those not ready to make the jump to a full EV. The platform is originally PSA-engineered, so it’s likely that the 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine from the current Corsa and 208 line-ups will find its way into Alfa crossover. This will allow Alfa to further reduce costs and bring the vehicle to market more quickly.

While Alfa will have little input into the running gear, the design will be unique, as our exclusive images preview. Slender LED headlamps and Alfa’s trademark trapezoidal grille will be its standout features, while its expected length of around 4.1 metres will make it a match for models such as the Audi Q2 and Nissan Juke.
The as-yet-unnamed crossover will go a considerable way to helping boost Alfa’s sales figures, which didn’t take off in the way the company expected with the Stelvio. Nissan regularly shifts around 60,000 Jukes each year in Europe – almost two thirds of Alfa’s entire annual sales on the continent.
A model that will beat the electric crossover into showrooms is the all-new Tonale SUV (above). It will sit in the segment above, rivalling models such as the Audi Q3 and BMW X2. It will be around 4.25 metres long, and is due to go on sale at the end of this year. It won’t be offered as a fully electric model, but it will be available as a plug-in hybrid, using the platform and running gear that currently underpin the Jeep Renegade.
This model will be Alfa’s first electrified vehicle, expected to pair a 1.3-litre engine with a small electric motor on the rear axle. This will enable the firm to develop four-wheel drive, with the electric motor powering the rear wheels and the engine driving the front axle. It should allow owners to travel up to 31 miles on pure-electric power.
Rounding off the confirmed models due by 2022 will be facelifted versions of the Giulia saloon and Stelvio SUV, both expected in around 12 months.

Anything i post over three lines long please assume it is an article lol.Last weekend i test drove both cars and i wanted to let members know my thoughts.Firstly the Audi A4 which is petrol Auto only on the scheme with a large ap of £3750. The dealer did offer me a test drive and he pointed out that only the petrol 150 is available on the scheme. So i was’nt pleased that come the day of the test drive he sat me in the car and said that it was a diesel that i would be driving and i was an older model ! The drive was hard and not much give even in comfort mode, not sure why it is on the scheme and not the Audi Q3. The next day i drive the X1, this time it was the right engine and a brand new car.The reason for the test drive was to see if 150hp is enough for driving on motorways and A roads, i believe it is, it’s a great car with a smooth engine and has all the extras i need.Members have mentioned the seats, but they were ok for me, not as good as Volvo’s but what are! I can not consider the Volvoxc40 due to the horrible mpg figures and the only Auto diesel is a wopping £3600.
Topic: Best hybrid SUVs 2019
As SUV sales continue to grow, so too does the number of hybrid models available. The question then, which hybrid SUV is best?
Not so long ago, Lexus was the go-to car brand for people wanting a hybrid SUV. However, more recently the range of hybrid SUVs in the UK has got considerably larger. This greater variety means that your chances of finding the right hybrid SUV have never been higher. Whether it’s a full-fat luxury SUV like a Range Rover, or a smaller, more compact model like the Toyota C-HR, there are plenty of models worth considering, and when you throw in the option of plug-in or conventional hybrid powertrains, you are almost spoilt for choice.• What is a hybrid car?
A large proportion of SUVs sold in the UK run on diesel power so you might have thought that most hybrid SUVs would use diesel engines for maximum efficiency. But that isn’t the case, a number of factors including the preferences in the large Japanese, Chinese, and American markets dictated that the cars in this guide have petrol engines with electrical assistance.
What is a plug-in hybrid?
A plug-in hybrid vehicle, or PHEV, works like a traditional hybrid but, as the name suggests, can be plugged in to charge the batteries. PHEVs tend to have better range than conventional hybrids and can, therefore, be driven further on electric power.Plug-in hybrids are designed to deliver the efficiency of a diesel, but with the smoothness of a petrol engine. The latest models feature a battery pack that’s good for up to 20 miles of electric running, and as long as you keep the battery charged up, you should be able to return decent fuel figures to match or beat a diesel model. Fail to keep it charged, and you’re presented with a false economy, because a depleted hybrid that relies on its petrol engine will be no more efficient than a standalone petrol model. That’s especially true when you factor in the usually higher purchase price of a hybrid model.
Why buy a hybrid SUV?
Aside from the tax benefits and incentives available with any hybrid car, one benefit of the hybrid SUV is that their size means there’s not much compromise in terms of passenger space. The hybrid system usually takes up space under the boot floor, and many makers fit a smaller fuel tank to make room for it, the reasoning being that the charged battery and electric motor will more than make up for the smaller fuel tank range. As a result, there are a few seven-seat hybrid SUVs on sale that feature a third row in the boot.• Best 4x4s and SUVs on sale
If you’re looking for a hybrid SUV or crossover, your options are wider than ever. At the lower end of the range in terms of size, the Kia Niro is more of a hatchback with SUV styling cues than a full crossover, but is the least expensive non-plugin hybrid on sale.
Where the real expansion is taking place is in the plug-in hybrid market. The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV was the first to arrive in 2012, but since then it’s been joined by the Volvo XC90 Twin Engine, Audi Q7 etron, Porsche Cayenne E-hybrid, and the MINI Countryman S E.

Anything i post over three lines long please assume it is an article lol.Hi all,
My lease is coming to an end for my Audi Q3 and i am considering ordering the BMW X2. I had a 24 hour test drive and absolutely loved it. I went to place my order and the dealer is telling me that i need to pay £550 for metallic paint on top of the advance payment which i am not willing to do. I have never had to pay for metallic paint before and i am on my 5th motability car.
Has anybody else came across this and confirm if this is correct?
Thanks

Tesla’s Model 3 has taken the UK electric car market by storm, with more than 5,300 units registered in Q3 2019. The pure-electric saloon outsold the following four best-sellers combined for the three months covering July to September according to recently updated Department for Transport (DfT) figures. It has also shot into first place in the year’s sales charts, despite having only been on sale for a fraction of that time.
Analysis by Zap-Map’s sister site Next Green Car shows the extent of the Tesla Model 3’s success in the graphs below. Now that deliveries of the Model 3 have fully come on stream in the UK, Tesla’s most accessible model is only likely to continue that trend for the foreseeable future. Although the cheapest model in Tesla’s range, buyers opted for the most-expensive specification – the Model 3 Performance – most out of the three available trim levels.
The Performance version has taken 42% of Model 3 registrations to the end of September 2019, while the entry-level Model 3 Standard Range + has accounted for a third of sales, leaving the Long Range model with 25% of the mix.

Having only had 173 Model 3 units registered in Q2 2019 – deliveries only really started towards the quarter – Tesla has shifted huge numbers of the premium electric saloon since. With 5,311 units registered according to DfT data, it made the second best-selling electric vehicle in Q3 2019 VW’s e-Golf. Volkswagen shifted almost 1,200 units, putting the electric Golf just ahead of the ever popular Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. The Mitsubishi sits in third place for Q3 2019, with 1,177 registered during that time.
Rounding out Q3’s best-sellers are the BMW i3 – now predominantly pure-EV registrations since i3 REX models have been phased out. With 1,135 registrations, it sits ahead of the Nissan Leaf’s 1,118 registrations, and Jaguar’s I-Pace with 1,057.
The Mini Countryman Cooper S E, BMW 330e, and BMW 530e come in ahead of the Range Rover Sport P400e, LEVC TX range-extended taxi, and Renault Zoe. It’s worth remembering with the BMW models and the Zoe that these are end of run versions, with updated models released since the end of Q3 2019. These are likely to start appearing in the next set of figures for the BMW PHEVs, and in Q1 2020’s results for the Renault.
It’s encouraging to see that pure-electric models have taken many of the top places in Q3. The Model 3, e-Golf, Leaf and I-Pace show plenty of blue on the left of the above table. The BMW i3’s figures are largely pure-electric too, with only 53 of the i3’s quarterly figures made up of i3 REX models.

A similar picture is painted for 2019 to date, with all of Tesla’s Model 3 figures accounted for since the start of the year. It leads the table for the first nine months of 2019, and it seems exceptionally unlikely that it will be replaced when the next set of statistics for 2019 as a whole are released in March next year.
The other models remain, though in a different order. The Outlander PHEV is in second place for the year with more than 4,600 registrations, BMW’s i3 with over 3,000 units, the Jaguar I-Pace with almost 2,900 registrations, and the Mini Countryman Cooper S E just 11 units behind the I-Pace with 2,863 registrations.
It’s still a little early for the Model 3 to have an impact on the UK’s total plug-in sales charts, where the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV retains its significant lead. In fact it’s stretching the gap between it and the Nissan Leaf in second place – but only just. Mitsubishi has seen 43,616 Outlander PHEVs registered to the end of Q3 2019, compared to the 26,766 Nissan Leaf models registered, increasing the lead by almost 60 units compared to Q2’s figures.
The BMW i3 retains third place, ahead of the BMW 330e and BMW 530e, with around 15,000, 14,000 and 11,000 registrations respectively. The Mercedes Benz C 350e comes in ahead of the Renault Zoe, Tesla’s Model S, the VW Golf GTE, and Mini’s Countryman Cooper S E for the top cumulative registrations.
The Model 3 misses out on the top 10 total UK electric vehicle sales then, but only just. Having had registrations for just over three months of the figures available – which go back to the start of 2012 – it sits in 11th place overall, and has already overtaken UK sales of the Tesla Model X, which has been on sale since Q4 2019.
Newer pure-electric entrants include the MG ZS EV and Mercedes Benz EQC, which only became available towards the end of Q3 2019. As such, we expect Q4’s registrations to significantly improve on the 66 MG models and 47 EQCs registered so far.
Relative growth naturally saw a big increase for the Model 3, up more than 3000% compared to the Q2 2019. PHEVs such as BMW’s 745e saw a 120% increase between the two sets of statistics, and sales of the Mercedes Benz E 300 de increased by 87%. The pure-electric Audi e-tron showed growth of 78%. All of these are new models for the quarter – with only a handful of sales accounted for in Q2 – picking up registrations quickly as deliveries come on song.
Looking at key EVs, the I-Pace and Kia e-Niro saw growth of 40% and 38% respectively, for the relatively recently launched but more established models, and the Hyundai Kona Electric sold more than 25% more units in Q3 than Q2 2019.
Although a relatively quiet quarter for the UK’s best-selling pure-electric car – the Nissan Leaf – it remains a vitally important car in the market. It’s the second-best selling plug-in car overall, and still accounts for almost a third of all pure-electric cars on the road in the UK. Renault’s Zoe and Tesla’s Model S account for 12% and 11% respectively, while the BMW i3 accounts for 8%. Despite its newcomer status, such is the success of the Model 3 that it still accounts for almost 7% of all pure-EVs on the road.

Combined sales see BMW retain top manufacturer status. The German manufacturer has sold almost 49,500 plug-in models in the UK to the end of Q3 2019, with seven different badges covered in the statistics – and more due in the next six months or so. Mitsubishi and Nissan remain in second and third place respectively, based almost entirely off the back of the success of the Outlander PHEV and Leaf.
Tesla has climbed to the fourth most successful manufacturer in the UK for electric vehicle registrations. There are now almost 19,500 Tesla models on UK roads according to Q3’s figures. It sees Tesla climb above Volkswagen in fifth, with more than 15,700 units covered by the two pure-electric hatchbacks – the e-up! and e-Golf – and GTE models available in the Golf and Passat ranges. The e-Golf’s success in Q3 2019 is largely down to extremely competitive pricing, as VW looks set to phase the electric Golf out before the ID.3 becomes available in 2020.
Electric vehicle registrations are reflecting those seen in the monthly SMMT figures. Pure-electric sales are increasing quicker than PHEV registrations, as visible in the below table. Having seen PHEVs see a peak plug-in market share of 75% in Q2 2017, the balance has slowly been redressing itself, though the gap between the two technology types has been deducing quickly in recent results. It now sees total PHEV registrations account for 64% of the mix.

High level figures from the DfT show that more than 232,500 plug-in cars (and plug-in vans that share a car-based variant) have been registered to the end of Q3 2019. Of these, more than 149,500 are PHEVs, almost 82,900 are pure-electric, and 160 are hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.
