Does anyone know if you’re able to apply for a grant well in advance of your next lease starting?
Say for instance, my lease does not run out for another 18 months, could I apply for the grant now to make sure I have it confirmed well in advance?
I’m coming up to 4 months for the C4 (after being told 2-3 months originally) and this is after cancelling after waiting 6 months for an MG.
Are people actually getting cars on Motability at the moment? It really seems like we’re just being pushed to the back repeatedly…
I think it’s very obvious dealers are being naughty and prioritising cash buyers over people on the scheme – I understand why they would but it’s surely something that needs addressing before it starts to seriously affect people on Motability?
Wow you got lucky there! I looked at the Niro and was told 3/4 months minimum at a few dealers. Well done on that find!
I also cancelled my HS order. The MG dealers that I’ve dealt with are appalling. Ranging from incompetent to outright liars. Started out being promised January 2022 and ended with early 2023.
I’ve gone for the top spec Citroen C4 instead. Stunning car and only an 8 week wait (or so I’m told…)
I also ordered in October 2021 with Barnley MG (avoid at all costs!). They have offered nothing in way of communication and are refusing to even give an estimate.
The car I ordered is no longer available (MG HS DCT) so I would need to order something else. Can anyone advise on what manufacturers currently have the shortest lead time for Motability? I’m sure this gets asked a lot, but I’m getting desperate
I also ordered in December (though the dealer put my name next to a car that was ordered in October) and was initially told January! Then it was February, then April…. Now they’re saying June/July.
Just a little bit more honesty and communication would be great. I ended up ordering with these guys because they told me January – and have had to travel way further than I was expecting and now it’s for nothing.
Oh well, live and learn!
I guess the best thing is to ask Motability. Just wondered if anyone has experience of doing similar
I’m sure a MG HS owner will be along shortly to make you feel a lot better.
<p style=”text-align: left;”>Hah they do seem to get mixed results! I’m in an HS group though and ignoring the PHEV most people seem to get around the 40-45 mark which isn’t too bad.

There’s always the guys flooring it and wondering why they only get 25 thoughThe new MG has a dedicated built in usb port at the top of the windscreen as standard In reply to above comment the dash cams view window can be switched off when driving if you wish and find it distracting Who wants to see a screen showing you the exact thing that you are already looking at IMO the modern touch screens in cars are more distracting
What MG does that come on? I’m expecting an MG HS Exclusive soon and I wasn’t aware of this. Nice touch if true!
The dealers/manufacturers are clearly lying about wait times.
I only ordered in November but I think I’ll cancel and go for the newly re-added RAV4 instead
Motability customer support is generally really good from my experience, so I’m not that surprised.
Will be interested in hearing what they say about your very valid complaint though!
New prices are out for Motability early on the MG site.
HS Exclusive DCT gone up to £1400+
Glad I got my order in already! Even if it takes 6 months…
Can anyone confirm that we should get an order number for our car once ordered?

Hi all coming into 23rd week since I ordered have given up chasing dealer, as they keep saying unable to order as MG not accepting orders, spoke to motability and they said dealer have extended my lease for 3 months, and they will extend monthly after that as motability say I only be April 22 before delivery, that’ll be 10 months since order ,oh well it might be a updated version by then, I was quoted 10 to 12 weeks maximum on ordering day, I am pushing the dealer for extras and to pay my advanced payment should be the least they should do as MG knew back in March 2021 that they had no chance of fulfilling delivery promises, so I have no sympathy for my dealer or anyone’s else’s, they have been truthful from the start, mine was still telling me lies right up to last month, so everyone push your untruthful dealer for what you can out of them it’s the least they can do for you. I wouldn’t of minded the wait if I had been told the truth from the start instead of all the bulshit Merry Christmas everyone let’s hope santa has better luck with his deliveries

10 months? Oh wow.Has the dealer given you an order number yet? Apparently there are plenty of dealers just winging it and not even placing orders. It’s such a weird unprecedented time, absolute chaos.
Finally ordered mine this week and the dealer was confident they’ll be here in January, March at the very latest.
Reckons they ordered in advance because they knew they’d all get picked up easily.
I’m more than a little dubious!
Anyone else been told similar?
Ah ok interesting stuff, thanks.
I was wondering if it was simply a mistake but that makes me much more interested in actually getting one now…
About to order (after much dilly dallying) an HS Exclusive next week. My dealer assures me it’s only a 12 to 16 week wait, though I suspect this may be incredibly optimistic by what you are also saying here?
If that’s the case then I’m tempted to go for the Tucson – as they don’t seem to be as affected by the shortage (they stockpile their own or something?) – but the AP is a bit too high if I’m honest.
December 1, 2021 at 9:40 am in reply to: 2021 Skoda Karoq gains fresh look and new technology #170460I assume this will be added back to the scheme in q1 next year?
I should probably wait before ordering my first car but patience is not something I possess.
Been told by a dealer that a 3008 is coming in next week that I could potentially have…
You could get the granny through your letterbox maybe? I know a few people get by doing this. Not ideal though.
I’m in a similar position and will be going hybrid instead, until the infrastructure is more realistic.
They are crap on petrol don’t bother getting one get a skoda the mg struggle to do 30mpg and on a long run the max I have got out of it was 33.5 mpg and I do drive very economical I hate mine can’t stand it if someone wrote it off I would shake their hand, the worse car I have had in the last 10 years get one in the vw group stay away.
I’m torn now, was thinking of ordering this next week but now thinking I might switch back to the Toyota Ch-r as the mpg might tip in it’s favour.
It’s the HS usually around 30mpg? Seems pretty low to me

Looks like the MGs will be a good place to start. Auto MG HS exclusive is only £850 in white or an extra £150 for any other colour. Top spec car with electric boot, full length opening sunroof and full leather. 1.5 turbo petrol engine as well. For that money there is nothing else that big. Most APs have jumped massively since Q1 (January 1st) this year. For example our Ateca FR Sport went from £1099 on Dec 28th when we ordered up to £3199 now!!
Been having a good look at this. Looks like a lovely car, exactly what we need really. Thanks!
Has anyone on here had the MG HS so far?
Sorry I’m looking at a max AP of £1000-1500
Thank you for that. You’d have thought the dealer would have mentioned that last week! He’s obviously even more behind!
I do need an automatic and would prefer a hybrid but it isn’t really essential. I suspect the ch-r might be my best bet but I really would like to see what people think
