I’m surprised there’s not a threat up yet. Wednesday sees the final new quarter for this year, what are we hoping for? New cars or improved pricing.
I’ll start with the ever popular IM5 and 6

I’d certainly like to see the IM5 and 6 on there, but I’d be happy with the Ford Explorer/Capri back on the list with a decent AP.

Current car: Mini Countryman EV in very shiny black!
Previous car: MG HS Exclusive in nice shiny black.
September 29, 2025 at 5:18 pm #314157Would love to see the Renault 4/5 on there but don’t think the 5 will appear for a long time if at all, although the 4 might at some point in the future.
September 29, 2025 at 5:33 pm #314159Motability is a bit ‘hot’ at the moment with the Press, I’ve never seen the quarter price change be carried by national papers (online) before. Hopefully the motability stand at the Labour Party conference will do the trick and calm the choppy Westminster waters. I’ve also been hearing ‘increase in demand’ and ‘shortage of supply’ we all know what that means to Advance Payments.
September 29, 2025 at 6:13 pm #314162I did read somewhere that the Q4 list will be available on the 10th not the 1st this time. I’ve tried to find where I read it but no luck.
September 29, 2025 at 6:24 pm #314163There’s definately going to be a threat to AP’s!

Improved pricing? Do you know something that we don’t? We can live in hope, but APs have been on an upward trajectory for 2 years now and I’m not anticipating a reversal, especially with EV residual values still being in free fall.

Theres the government incentives for some EVs. Not much but it may help. It was more inviting responses than actually hoping for a sudden AP crash. To be brutally honest, I can’t see all APs dropping as significantly as they had before ever again. Some manufacturers may decide to have a few months generating demand but with insurers putting their prices up and the overheads still going the wrong way the opportunity to cut even a few hundred off the AP of every single car offered just won’t happen.
it may be rather a bleak new quarter, cars removed, APs going north, maybe a few added.

September 30, 2025 at 7:39 am #314178I would like to see the Cupra Born back and the Skoda Elroq
September 30, 2025 at 8:41 am #314182The Elroq was rumoured to be returning but whether that’s this Q or not remains to be seen. I think we can safely assume if it does, the AP will be higher than previously.
September 30, 2025 at 10:07 am #314193With the amount of cars with a current AP of £3,999 it’s likely that this will rise by £1,000 – if not this coming quarter, but Q1/26. At the lower end, £0 AP and below full monthly allowance are all but now zero.
From this, the future is not looking good for financial reasons. Also, given the amount of people who cannot benefit from reduced home charging rates, the uptake of EV’s is not going to surge anytime soon.
Overall, irrespective of what cars may be on the scheme; the cost is going to be prohibitive for many, and with a diminishing choice.
Another point is that the Terms and Conditions haven’t been updated for over 12-months, so maybe plans are afoot for further restrictions to new contracts.
https://www.motaclarity.co.uk/news/new-motability-cars-coming-in-2026
From my personal perspective, having a ‘full allowance’ car with an AP of £3,999; and only travelling around 4,000 miles a year is not a cheap option – but of course, it was my choice. A further point is that in addition to my limited mileage, and with the speed limitations of living in a rural area, mean that the car is sat idle and unused for around 96% of the time. My perfect solution would be ‘car sharing’ or through a car club – but no local option exists … yet.
September 30, 2025 at 11:34 am #314200Q4 can sometimes include some good deals as not too many private buyers are thinking of buying a car in the cold depths of November & December and are too busy thinking about Christmas and the New Year. Dealers are still needing to shift cars through this period, which is always quieter, so fingers crossed that if you’re due to order in Q4, there are deals to be had. I know (for example) if I was a private buyer, I’d wait until near Spring or February at least before looking for a new car.
As for new car additions to the MB list… who knows! When it gets released in November, I would love to see the new Honda Prelude appear on the scheme at some point during 2026. It is ‘rumoured’ to have a price tag of around $40k dollars (probably the same here in £ pounds) but it is a full proper hybrid. I just hope the miserable gits at Motability Towers give us a choice & add it to the car list in 2026. Secretly though, I know I am wishing too much – even though the full proper hybrid element ticks all the boxes. Motability don’t seem to give a sh*t unless you go full electric – and I can’t do that.
September 30, 2025 at 12:07 pm #314202i am dreading the next 2 quarters my lease lets me order from 28 feb, at the moment the search effectively comes down to 6 cars at the moment more realistically 4. it will only take an increase of 4 or 500 to remove most of them. realistically i wont qualify for a grant so i will either have to suck up hobsons choice or get a cheap runabout and hope it proves reliable. sensible head so far is eliminating all electrics as i cant charge at home nor will i be able to as the council will not allow a driveway to be installed. apparently trees and grass have more rights, the grass apparently is a valued amenity space that trumps disability needs. the only amenity use it gets is as a toilet for the dogs belonging to 3 old biddies around here who refuse to pick up after them. as you can guess its a down day today.
September 30, 2025 at 12:10 pm #314203Motaclarity is a total waste of time as a website. They basically just list every single car coming out this year and say it “could” be on motability. Anyone can say that!
September 30, 2025 at 12:12 pm #314204Mitch the new Toyota Aygo 1.5 hybrid the engine from the Yaris will be in showrooms before Christmas auto express tested it and got 88 mpg it’s a game changer and looks fab in orange I can’t wait to see it in my local showroom

September 30, 2025 at 12:36 pm #314206@mitch – I’d recommend the new Renault Clio 1.8 full hybrid Mitch – but although it gets released soon in Europe, it isn’t coming to the UK until early 2027 for some strange reason!
I have the current 1.6 Esprit Alpine full hybrid & it’s been great. Lovely comfy sports seats, full of all the kit you need and 58mpg to boot. The new, very smart, refreshed version will certainly be on my list…
September 30, 2025 at 12:40 pm #314207Did you notice the schemes
Find a car filter re AP’s for standard vehicles
They have put the bands at £250 intervals but now included bands up to £15,500.
Perhaps in anticipation of Q4 AP increases…!!!!
September 30, 2025 at 1:02 pm #314209Looks like Peugeot are the first to break cover with Q4 AP’s:
September 30, 2025 at 1:08 pm #314221E traveller now £9,199
September 30, 2025 at 1:14 pm #314286Well firstly I’m hoping the Enyaq stays on without any hike in AP. Then, like others, I’d like to see recent departures return (Capri, Explorer, Elroq etc) again, hopefully without hikes (unlikely I know). I’d also like to see the R4 come on.
The eC4 three years is up at the end of March so the old 12 week notice to renew is going to fall on the cusp of Q4/Q1. I’m hoping to get at least a bit of Q4 because at least you can negotiate getting any (unlikely) reduction passed on but try and beat any (more likely) increase.
I am a bit befuddled by the number of EVs removed, supposedly due to meeting demand for private buyers (especially after the grant introduction) versus the amount of production line closures etc.
September 30, 2025 at 1:19 pm #314320Lots of changes to Peugeot Q4 proces plus down a little from 36 to 31 Peugeot models on scheme , up to £9,199 AP.

The new Captur might suit @mitch better and I believe orders have started to be taken. Symbioz? might be another option. Shall you be having another Captur?

I, and undoubtedly others, have been whinging at Motability that a 2k max filter was useless in a world where some cars start above that and go on to the maximum AP. It seems like enough of us have done enough to get the suggestion through development. That said, unless they’ve put the same filter selection on both cars and WAVs it’s definitely time to brace ourselves for a painful new quarter.

The 208 GT Premium 6-speed dual clutch is new to the scheme. I had the previous model and it comes with all the bells & whistles like heated seats, ACC, Satnav, front & rear cameras, etc that Peugeot charge a fortune for separately.
AP is £1,199.00 which isn’t too bad for what is THE sexiest & smartest small car on the road bar none!
