We have a petrol Kia Sportage on order since April but delivery will not be until early next year now, so considering alternatives. I really like the new Qashqai and X-Trail E-Power models which will provide much better fuel economy than the quite thirsty Sportage. However, the N-Connecta trim does lack some features such as heated seats, electric tailgate and wireless Android auto (only wireless Apple car play available). I have asked the dealer if the heat pack can be added as an extra and await their response.
We also have a Sportage GT S Line Petrol on order since May. If the X Trail Teckna E4force comes on the scheme, bye bye Sportage.

Took my X Trail in for a service last Saturday and had a good old poke around the new model (e-POWER 213 Automatic 4WD e-4ORCE Tekna+) – looks stunning but the price
for the top spec is circa 47k š
One question I forgot to ask, I ordered the penta grey paint, do we have to pay the £600 + for the paint on top of the AP.?
We ordered the 1.6 GT line S 48v MHEV AWD in Fusion Orange with the two tone (black roof and mirrors) and only had to pay the £150 for the two tone. So on that basis you should be able to pick any colour and it be included in the AP. Apart from the two tone of course.
This is not a bad site to visit…. and as you can see the Ariya is on as is news of several models being pulled.

Hi Joss,
Let us know your expected delivery date please and.. if you get the chance take a look at the seats and confirm if there is indeed a 1/2 memory button?
I just find it very strange that they (Kia) state it on the site but not on the official brochure/spec download.
TIA š
Thanks lab š
Hi,
Just noticed in the OP the comment…
‘The electric memory seats’
Is there a memory function for the seats as I cannot find any mention of it in the spec or brochure?
TIA š
Ordered the same car as the OP last Saturday, Fusion Orange with Black roof. Was asking the dealer about the HEV and PHEV, apparently Kia had predicted/estimated that they would sell 1,000 Sportage per month on MB. In the 1st 2 weeks of April they had taken 53,000 orders! The majority of which were the HEV version. Hence removing that version for the rest of the year so they could satisfy the demand from retail/private buyers.
Understandable I suppose but I would have liked at least the option to wait a year or more.
Oh, and delivery for the car we ordered is ‘around’ September/October.
Hello all ā long time reader first time poster. Please can anyone advise if they have actually driven the new Sportage with the mild hybrid 1.6 petrol engine? Every Kia dealership only seem to have the HEV as a demonstratorā¦ā¦ ironically the one we canāt order nowā¦.. I like many Iām sure were about to order the HEV full (non plug in) but it was removed. I currently have a BMW X1 2.oD (187 bhp) which I have extended for 2 years, before that had the Focus ST TDCI estate (186 bhp)ā¦ā¦. just not sure if a 148bhp petrol will feel underpowered? Thought or opinions welcome. Thanks
Hi,
I had a 1 hour test drive in the HEV GT line S 1.6 auto FWD and it was STUNNING!!! The only difference in drive between that and the 48v equivalent is that the non HEV will not be in EV mode ever. So from a practical point of view, whilst I loved the HEV, EV start and moving off (smooth, silent and rapid), I could not tell the difference when the petrol engine took over apart from the rev counter needle suddenly start moving.Ā From an everyday driving perspective this is the only difference (besides MPG) that you should notice.
Internally, with the 48v, you will gain AWD with terrain control and a choice of Eco, Normal or Sport mode. You will lose any EV and Park Smart Assist.
Externally, with the 48v you will gain 19 inch (over 18 inch) wheels (19 are far better looking imo) and Orange as an additional colour.
Finally, my dealer was quoting 4 months delivery for the 48v as averse to 12 months for the HEV and as another poster has already pointed out re MPG you can buy a lot of fuel for the £700 AP difference.
Hope this helps.
If i were you, iād test drive the Sportage anyway. We test drove it before it came to the scheme (weeks, in fact), so that once it comes to the scheme, we could immediately order without faffing around with test drives etc. It also could be that (like us), you like the car but it doesnāt suit you (like it happened for us), which also helps making a decision. Weāre 6 months into the waiting time for our Golf GTE, weāll still test drive the new 308 225 in three weeks once the demonstrators become available. Nobody needs to inflate the demand though, demand couldnāt be higher while supply couldnāt be less. Of course prices go up, thatās how it goes. Oh and the reason as to why thereās no government incentives is simple, they couldnāt give less of a sh.. damn. They were full on the āfree luxury sedans for damaged peopleā train that the daily fail started. Lets not act like the Tories did anything to help anyone but investment bankers. Donāt expect anything from a government that has nothing but disdain for poor/disabled people.
Hi Rene,
Like you we had a test drive (GT Line S HEV) weeks ago and were blown away. Just curious as to why the car ‘dose’nt suit you’?
Thanks,
HH
Any ideas how many car seat (either isofix or seatbelt) would fit in the Sportage?
There are the usual 2 sets of isofix in the rear and I guess you could get an additional seat belt seat in the middle… so 3 in total.
Does anyone know if any of the sportageās on the motability list come with 4 wheel drive? Iāve just rang the dealer and apparently all the ones on the list are only 2 wheel driveā¦ā¦
Need to correct you Rene… The MB search tool showing the GT Line S is AWD !
July 20, 2021 at 11:03 am in reply to: What would be suitable when i need to change my Motability Car #159086I am currently on our 2nd Nissan X Trail and to be honest am thinking of a 3rd when the new model comes to our shores late this year/early next. Roomy, comfortable and fully loaded š
@ChrisK could’nt agree more mate. IMHO it is an absolute disgrace that we can still only order 3 months in advance, should be at least 12!Firstly, I think it is soo refreshing having the choice of anything with this power output.
Secondly, the 300 BHP is NOT available on the scheme in GT Premium trim (which is why its cheaper).
Finally, why oh why is there no heated steering wheel???
@ DafĀ ‘I went for about 2 months using the 3 pin plug supplied. It gives you about 8/9 miles of range for every hour of charging. O.K for me as I only do about 30 to 40 miles a day.’
Hi Daf,
Forgive my ignorance but the 3 pin, is that a standard domestic that you plug into a ‘normal’ house socket?
If so, can you please tell me what fuse is fitted?
Thanks š
Good advice ChrisK, the only other thing I would add is that if you post anything, send it by recorded delivery. Again, good luck!
Sorry to hear that.
My wife had hers back end of last year and after prepping prepping and more prepping not to mention the stress, worry, 2nd guessing etc.. we had already had plan B if she lost.
That was to Fight!
Research the official steps, but I would advise..
Contest
Appeal
Tribunal
Hope this helps and good luck!
I too thinkĀ the Tucson looks fantastic. As for AP go off existing model APs as a guide and check out the following link for new cars coming on the scheme including the Tucson š
My advice – start saving!
The all-new Hyundai Tucson has been revealed with a completely fresh design, loads of advanced safety features plus a new range of hybrid powertrains.
It’s bolder than youād expect a practical, family-focussed SUV to be, with a huge grille at the front that incorporates the vehicle’s daytime running lights and headlights sat in separate pods underneath.Ā
On the inside, the new Tucson gets a completely new design that’s both futuristic and minimalist, with a large central touchscreen and a smart glossy black pane of touch-sensitive buttons just below.Ā
The new Hyundai Tucson will be available with a range of petrol, diesel and hybrid engines, including mild-hybrids and a plug-in hybrid option featuring a powerful electric motor mated to a 1.6-litre petrol engine.
Expected Hyundai Tucson Motability launch date: TBC
BTW a friend (also has an X Trail) had a problem where the car would not go more than 15 mph. Took it into the garage and the repair bill was £3,500, something to do with exhaust system not getting hot enough due to very few short trips. MB told him that if it happened again he would have to pay for it! Really???
Collected X Trail August 2019, filled up 2x since pandemic and covered total of 4,500 miles š
Morning All,
23 ‘ish ‘hits’ so far with quite a range of scores illustrating some enlightening views.
Keep ’em coming please and remember to include your score š
Thanks.
December 3, 2020 at 8:59 am in reply to: New Toyota RAV4 plug-in hybrid priced from Ā£47,395 (WHAT, I SAY WHAT!) #131025Car ownership for many will be a pastime, alot cannot afford a mid/large new car right now and even 2nd hand ones will be out of reach for many and then thereās the schemes going on aimed at solely cutting car usage like closing roads to all cars etc, alot like the war on smoking or sugar. I deffo think by 2030 i will have left the scheme or it will have to be closed and at some point we will all just get driverless taxis at extortionate prices. As that will be the only option for us with mobility issues.
Well said Rox. I agree completely.
As for this Rav – Motability are going to have to radically change their approach to pricing/performance structure in the immediate future to allow for electric/hybrids etc.. Especially with UK Gov ban on new ICE sales by 2030!
