Well ive done it, after much back and forth i have finally transferred the AP and collect the car via click & collect on Tuesday the 9th at 12am lol. the wall charger is due to be fit in around 6 weeks and i was going to wait but i just could not hold back, like a little kid i know but the excitement got the better of me so for now i will have to rely on public charging and my granny cable but im sure ill manage and at least 6 chargers within 5 mile of my house are free until Oct 2021 so im sure to make the most out of those.

Glad you got it all sorted Stuart. 6 weeks isn’t long to wait for home charger being fitted. Enjoy.

Watt a great decision. It’s fantastic when you can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Seems to be the current choice of many. I wish you many happy miles of charging around.

Well done Stuart. I went for about 2 months using the 3 pin plug supplied. It gives you about 8/9 miles of range for every hour of charging. O.K for me as I only do about 30 to 40 miles a day.

As you rightly say you can top up using public chargers. When you get your wall charger fitted it will give 28 miles per hour

Cracking car the Soul pleasure to drive, enjoy mate.

                  Hi Daf,

Forgive my ignorance but the 3 pin, is that a standard domestic that you plug into a ‘normal’ house socket?

If so, can you please tell me what fuse is fitted?

                  Thanks 🙂

Fantastic car Stuart great choice, would be great to see some pictures.

With travelling severely restricted you will be fine with the “granny cable” until you get your wall charger fitted.

Its a strange one but will your dealer supply it with a full battery?

                      Yes Brydo

I have stipulated 100% charge on collection to tide me over, like you say under these trying times i think 6 weeks will be fine until the wall box is fit. Be prepared for a photo bombardment lol

Excitement with perhaps a little fear & range anxiety?

You’ll be smiling like a cheshire cat within a few days of picking it up, & within a week you’ll have forgotten about range anxiety but you’ll detest the EV taxi drivers who sit on those free rapid chargers powering their heaters & showing a 98% SoC.

hint: If you get a BP Pulse card (formerly Polar), don’t start the free 3 months period until the end of lockdown. The same goes for other RFID cards, don’t get them until/unless you need them unless they are completely free (I think that the Shell Recharge card is a complete freebie).

Stuart where are you based, there are many free chargers dotted about the UK, quite a few here in Scotland, so have look on zap map and double up your shopping, for instance, with some free “juice”.

The granny charger will have a 13A plug but the charger itself will limit to about 10A so 2.3kW if memory serves & the decent ones may have thermal protection in the plug.

One of the reasons i decided to take the plunge, its all about changing mind set. Leaving the house on every journey with 300 miles of range should be more than plenty for me, only real big trip we take is to Fairford every year for the air show and it should do that in one go without charging JUST or it may need a quick blast on the way back. Other than that the airports we use are all within range, we have family on the east coast which is well within range so i dont see any issues really.

Living just down the road from Fairford, there’s a great 50kw fast charger in Cirencester, and it’s a flat rate of £4 to use.  Hopefully RIAT 2022 will be on the cards and we will be back to normal by then!

Stuart when I first got married we were “skint” and when putting petrol in the car it was a max of £1. I remember going a run with my wife and newly born baby girl and running out of petrol. Just by chance my father and mother in law had decided to go a run and passed by us they took the wife and daughter home and me to the garage.

You would have I’d have learned my lesson but no. A few years later heading home from the in laws, I thought I had enough in the tank to get home but didn’t. There is a big hill to get into the village and I was 50m from the top, and its all down hill after that, I ran out of juice. Just as we pulled onto the pavement my mate from school days pulled in behind us and saved the day.

Very lucky on both occasions as we had no breakdown cover, hasn’t happened since lol.

lol had many days like that way back when, remember the norm at petrol stations was a fiver lol very rare my fuel gage went above quarter of a tank. for years i thought it only held a few gallon, i remember i bought a Rover sterling 820 fastback and i almost passed out the first time i filled her up lol.

Before you collect check that they have done the latest software update for the maps. Also there has been a safety recall, something to do with the software for the brakes so best to check they have updated that too.
