It would be interesting if figures could be calculated on this forum how many people will leave the scheme that’s the only way to put pressure on Motabilty hit them in the pocket. Also with the elections coming up in Scotland and if Labour get wiped out it may put pressure on the UK government to look at how disabled people are voting.
Surely for every mile below the 30000 mileage cap we should get 25 pence a mile. That money could go towards our next AP.
March 24, 2026 at 3:01 pm in reply to: Electricity tariffs and setting up of EV home charging procedures #348759When you click to fix your rate for the year with intelligent octopus you will see the rate jumps to 9 pence for off peak charging. I received the email for Octopus to say my rate was dropping but as soon as you try to fix your rate it jumps. It is really confusing for anybody not familiar with octopus and their pricing.
March 17, 2026 at 10:35 am in reply to: Electricity tariffs and setting up of EV home charging procedures #344998I put a post on trustpilot about intelligent octopus not being on the government tariffs. Also saying about the standard tariff being 19 pence and intelligent octopus being 34 pence. I only gave them 1 star. Very rarely do they get 1 star. This morning I received a long winded email from the Octopus team trying to explain the 15 pence difference saying they have to hike the day rate to cover the new 9 pence night rate. Don’t think they are happy with the 1 star rating.
March 16, 2026 at 1:04 pm in reply to: Electricity tariffs and setting up of EV home charging procedures #344983Just had another thought. I think motability should make their customer aware that if you opt for a plug in vehicle and use the cheap through the night your daytime use is not protected. If this war continues you could go up to 40 pence a kw. Any time there is a crisis you have no protection.
As I said before my electricity has jumped £500.
March 16, 2026 at 12:24 pm in reply to: Electricity tariffs and setting up of EV home charging procedures #344980Just had a second email from octopus. Another property I own is on the standard rate tariff fixed by the government. The electricity rate will drop from 24 pence to 19 pence a kw on 1st April. I contacted them to ask why I am going to pay 34 pence a kw from 1st April at my home address.
They said intelligent octopus is not covered by the government tariffs and you get no discount. The benefit being 8 pence through the night.
Well that’s made my mind up. Getting rid of plug in Phev and changing to full hybrid.
March 11, 2026 at 1:52 pm in reply to: Electricity tariffs and setting up of EV home charging procedures #344722Should have taken that rate as it’s now 34+ and only fixed for 6 months.
Checked E.ON they are 32 pence daytime and 9 pence night time charging. Octopus are 34 pence daytime and 8 pence night time. Still octopus is a big jump from 26 pence and 7 pence they are currently charging me. So at the end of the day looks like I will stay with Octopus. One other point Octopus are only doing 6 months fixed rate, they have dropped yearly price fixing.
Thanks Kezo. I have said that. Your only speaking to the call handlers when you phone. It all logged and I am awaiting a reply from motabilty.
Yes, I think you might be right. Have spoken to someone I know in VW. He has said get rid of it and go for the Tiguan same set up and engine but does not have the problems of the golf. I will think about it over the weekend.
Just ordered Golf get. I asked the dealer if the AP comes down Q1 2025 can we ‘re order at lower AP. Dealer says motabilty are clamping down on this and you have a delay period to ‘re order. Also said with the tyres you are not getting unlimited amount and I may have to change them around from front to back. He says this because electric and plug in hybrid and just going through to many tyres through lease. Is this correct
Ohme have now looked at charger. They may have done something as the message on charger screen which said car only charging at 3.7kw has now disappeared. I will charge tonight to see if has been rectified. Thanks
Sorry. I have just checked message on ohme site it is only effecting cars from the vag group, vw, seat and skoda.
Apparently it is only affecting some ohme pro charges. People are posting on ohme help that they have same problem. The fact ohme have gone to the exstent to post a prepared message on there site suggests to me they are aware. I have had a charger since 2017 I have double checked everything.
When you have had the snp saying for 14 years when we get control of dla/pip we will do much better than the terrible tories. We will be quicker and apply a softer approach. Things will be much better for the disabled in Scotland. Well read the statistics.
Yip, the whole point of the post we were told by there spin doctors they would do much better than the terrible tories. If they had had said this is a difficult benefit to administer but we will try our best. Instead of putting ther spin doctors into overdrive telling us how fantastic they were going to be.
Yes. My wife just confirmed it is an indefinite award I was given. My mistake.
I have just looked at all my dwp letters and they only have a start date. I can’t see anything in them that says this award is only for ten years. It was Macmillan that looked at the award and said because of your condition there is no end date. It was they that said this is called a life time award as there was no end date on it. This letter from ADP is the first letter I have received with an end date.
Using public charging ie garages would make the cost of running an ev far to expensive for me. Octopus 7.5 pence rate is the only way I can afford it. If I didn’t have a home charger it would be hybrids.
WOW. Thank goodness I got my car last quarter.
I am very happy with zr-v. Fuel economy is excellent, getting 43 minimum with different types of runs. Only gripe is the grap handles and mobile phone. Honda system where you can only have main number working while driving. You have to keep changing when me or my wife are driving. VW system is miles better.
The snp doesn’t help you it’s money they get from uk government to assist people in Scotland with heating.
Contacted motabilty first and was told not our problem mate here is ohme number you have to deal with them.
Problem with air source pump is if you do not live in a modern house with up-to-date insulation you need radiators the size of a football pitch to get any heat from them.
I sent pictures on Wednesday morning, they asked for them. The problem is it is such a tight fit at the charger. They have not replied as yet to my update email this morning. The cost of going to a garage to charge would be astronomical, compared to my octopus rate.
