Just listened to three well-known BBC pundits talk about Pep Guardiola and Jurken Klopp for the English national team manager. What a trio of plonkers!
Silly as it might sound, I wouldn’t rule Klopp out of taking the job for a couple of good reasons.
The first is that he has said in several interviews since leaving Liverpool that although he obviously wants to work again at some point in the future, he can’t ever see himself working at the same intensity as he did at Liverpool, so an international managing job could give him that, with a lot less games and without the transfer pressures of club management. He could also have another few weeks holiday before actually taking the role.
The second reason is that Klopp is available now but if he wanted to get back into club football then it would probably only be with a very small number of clubs but there are no stand out candidates that are currently manager free. Klopp would be forced to wait for someone to be sacked, meaning that the club were probably doing badly, so he would need to rebuild. Managing England could offer him a chance to take on a team at a time when they have real potential right now.
Southgate has gone then!
Willis, it’s a sad state of affairs from my standpoint that I only know “big Ange” from the choices you give. There was a time when I knew a lot about English football but the introduction of so many foreigners has put me off. I don’t mean the guys you noted are foreigners it’s more that I don’t know anything about them or who they are. Over the years I’ve had a couple of English teams at the top of my must-watch list, Manchester United, with Sir Alex at the helm and Liverpool but now I can’t tell you much about the English game. I think the introduction of foreign players, in small amounts, is a good thing but the numbers coming in over the years have diluted the Englishness (is that a word lol) of the game down south.
I know what you mean about too many foreigners Brydo, as I used to feel the same, but I actually see it as a positive thing now as it definitely develops the English players in the league by playing with the best players from other countries.
Removing their medals made them look churlish. Anyone think we are ungrateful % sore looser’s 😂
Having played football for many years and both won and lost cup finals I can understand why the players removed their medals from their necks. After giving your all in a game only to then lose, the medal then feels like a big losers badge for all of the crowd to look at! You just want to stick it into your pocket and go and get changed but out of respect for your opponents you stick around and politely applaud as they are presented with the trophy and winners medals.
24 or 48 hours later you start to feel a little differently and the medal you have stuck away in a drawer takes on new meaning, as it becomes a runners up emblem, so it comes out of the drawer and goes on a shelf as the reminder of achievement. (But also occasionally of what nearly was!)For that reason I’ll give the players (and manager) a pass for removing their medals.
Willis who would you like to see take over the English team? The thing about managing a country is that the person picked is unlikely to be wanted by anyone else so you’re not necessarily getting a top manager. If Southgate does leave i can’t see him getting a job with any of the top teams and similarly i can’t see any of the top managers taking the English job.
Graham Potter seems to be the red hot bookies favourite and as much as he seems a nice guy, it would be like swapping Southgate for Southgate. He even looks a bit like Southgate!
I would like to see someone like Unai Emery or Ange Postecoglou but it will never happen! The best I can hope for really would be for someone like Mark Robins to jump into contention, as at least they play attacking football.
Absolutely gutted about the football and whilst I know just getting to the final is an achievement it’s yet another tournament where we could have won but didn’t!
Southgate will probably stay on but I just don’t see us winning anything as long as he is in charge. His style of football (defensive ) is not only outdated in the modern game but it’s also boring and bloody frustrating! We must be the only country that can take corners and pass it back to our own goalie!
I think it’s time for a new leader, or failing that, bring in a new rule that anyone making a backward pass is instantly subbed and dropped for the next two games! (Although we might need 24 subs every match!)I loved that video Kezo, cheers for posting it! Yep, the Forester certainly smashed anything they put in front of it, with flying colours for sure! I can’t see myself tackling anything like those situations nowadays. Suburu appointment sooner rather than later I think!
Indeed it did! If the Tucson hadn’t just got through, I wouldn’t of posted it 😛😂
😂😂😂
Get in there!!
We are getting better every game. Big step up for Sunday needed but it’s a final, anything can happen!

I had an interest in the Torres too, but it’s not been getting great reviews. Plus they deleted the gearstick for the UK, and call me old fashioned but I do like a gearstick, even in an auto. Having had the Foz for 6 days now I really can’t see the Torres being a patch on the Japanese machine. For me at least it’s a superb SUV. Go with your gut Willis, and remember the Subaru is permanent AWD, not 2WD and then reactive 😉
I am definitely swinging towards the Forester. It’s got just about everything I want and need in a car. If I had one tiny quibble it was the lack of ground clearance but this is outweighed by its superb off road capability compared to other so called SUVs. To be fair, my off roading nowadays is limited to crossing the occasional field of wet grass and gravel roads so I’m probably being stupid worrying about ground clearance.
I think I might suggest a return trip to the Suburu dealer to the wife.Well, it was quite a surreal day today guys. Our Volvo XC40 was ready to be returned. We had it for 45 months and it was a cracking car. Condition wise the Volvo was just as good today as it was on day one, with the exception of one small scuff on the nearside front wheel (which ironically, I only did at the 44 month stage, yeah I was really pleased about that ….. not 🤬). So we achieved the good condition bonus easily which is very welcome. So over 5 years after beginning to campaign for Subaru’s return to the scheme, and just 3 weeks after placing our order, we took delivery of a Forester XE Premium in Horizon Blue Pearl today. We cannot fault the service we received at Burns Garages of Congleton, so if you’re interested in a Subaru and are in their locale then I would certainly recommend them. They are a long standing family run operation who place huge importance on customer service, no matter how you are funding the vehicle. We dealt with Neil Harrison at Burns and again, no complaints whatsoever, and we can happily recommend him. His email address is should you need it is : newcarsales@burnsgarages.co.uk So first impressions of the car, both I and my wife love it much more than the Volvo, and the Volvo had set a high bar , I feel its a nicer drive, I feel the brakes are better, and the considerable visibility in the car is very welcome. It feels a very stable drive given its permanent AWD system. Picking this vehicle was never about expecting good fuel economy, after all its a fair sized SUV with AWD. That said after picking it up, on day one it was returning 50mpg on the motorway, and 32mpg around town. For me, on a 2 lire normally aspirated petrol car of that size with the AWD kit engineered in, I’ve no complaints with that. And it will only improve over time. So I’ll spend some time over the next few days personalising the settings to suit me, and get more familiar with the car. Have to say though, we’re very happy with our choice 😁👌

Car looks gorgeous Macca! Really glad you like it so much too.
I have been hanging on to see it the Torres AWD makes an appearance on the scheme to compare it against the Forester but I’m not sure how much longer I can hold out, especially when I read comments like yours above!
I’m deep into my two year lease extension now so a decision needs to be made very, very soon. I can see a Forester appearing on the drive here too soon, especially if I show the wife your car pic as she loved the Suburu on test drive!
Unbelievable!
What was so hard to believe about that? I predicted every moment! 🙂
My team of the tournament so far, after last night’s game has to be Georgia!
They really looked like they wanted to win and although Portugal pressurised them relentlessly, as soon as they had any opportunity they came out at speed and looked dangerous. When Portugal did have the ball every player from the Georgia side gave everything they had to close down, tackle and defend every blade of grass. The Georgia keeper made two brilliant saves but the 2-0 win was well deserved.
Ronaldo was made to look very ordinary and his reaction to every refereeing decision rightly got him booked and could very easily have turned into a red if his manager hadn’t have pulled him off early.I hope England show the same passion and commitment on Sunday. If we do then I predict an easy win!
We will know when we go bed tonight who england face Sunday favourites at 66% are Holland
Looking very like England will be playing Slovakia now, unless Georgia throw away a two goal lead in the next twenty minutes.
Another poor performance but we still go through as group winners so maybe I shouldn’t complain.
The one chink of light was the sparkles of hope shown once Palmer and Gordon came onto the pitch. We began to look like we could actually score but there just wasn’t enough time for them to make a proper impact. Hopefully Southgate will have seen what we all did and now includes them in the next game from the start.
On a brighter note, with France slipping up we now seem to have found ourselves in the best side of the draw, avoiding France, Germany, Spain and Portugal. 😃
32 and red hot here today!
Overcast and 18*C what happened to 23*C
25 and sunny here!

How the hell was that not a penalty?????
Joke decision!
That said, Scotland just lacked that little bit of quality finishing needed to win. Still gutted though!
The AWD version is priced on KGM website and there is an AWD model on auto trader so I’m assuming you can order it
Nope! I’ve asked two different KGM dealers and have also just been onto the KGM website to check after reading your post. They, and it are still saying summer 2024 for the AWD, which I suppose could be anytime, but I would have thought they would give the dealers a bit of a heads up if it was anytime soon.
I have it on good authority that summer 2024 will be on Tuesday!
Just seen this on a Facebook group, looks like the KGM Torres may be joining for those that have been waiting

Shame that they haven’t released the AWD version in the UK yet as I may well have been interested in the Torres if they had. The motoring mags just keep churning out the same line that ‘it will be here soon’ but won’t give a date.
I really hope that Scotland can pull a big performance out of the hat tonight and go through to the knockout stages on a high. The loss of Kieran Tieney was a big blow but it also gives Clarke a chance to change things around and go for a completely different setup to the team from what we have seen in the first two games. He needs to be brave and go offensive rather than play safe then just hope to score whilst not conceding!
That said, the same sort of advice could be given to Southgate for England, but I do think we will see a different team come out on Tuesday, not just in personal, but in attitude too. I really am convinced that we will see England get a solid win with multiple goals on Tuesday.
4-0 to England!
Last night’s performance was dreadful with the team looking so disorganised that they would seem to have no chance, however, the one thing that we have in our favour is that England always start tournaments badly but then improve as it goes on.
They will need to drastically improve to have any chance at all, but surely they must get better? They certainly couldn’t get any worse!
England are notoriously bad starters in tournaments so a win in the first game, no matter how it was achieved is a bonus!
3 points in the bag and if we win either of the next two matches we are going through to the knockout stages. That I can change it as soon as I find another one!
