Having played football for many years and both won and lost cup finals I can understand why the players removed their medals from their necks. After giving your all in a game only to then lose, the medal then feels like a big losers badge for all of the crowd to look at! You just want to stick it into your pocket and go and get changed but out of respect for your opponents you stick around and politely applaud as they are presented with the trophy and winners medals.
24 or 48 hours later you start to feel a little differently and the medal you have stuck away in a drawer takes on new meaning, as it becomes a runners up emblem, so it comes out of the drawer and goes on a shelf as the reminder of achievement. (But also occasionally of what nearly was!)For that reason I’ll give the players (and manager) a pass for removing their medals.
Willis, it’s a sad state of affairs from my standpoint that I only know “big Ange” from the choices you give. There was a time when I knew a lot about English football but the introduction of so many foreigners has put me off. I don’t mean the guys you noted are foreigners it’s more that I don’t know anything about them or who they are. Over the years I’ve had a couple of English teams at the top of my must-watch list, Manchester United, with Sir Alex at the helm and Liverpool but now I can’t tell you much about the English game. I think the introduction of foreign players, in small amounts, is a good thing but the numbers coming in over the years have diluted the Englishness (is that a word lol) of the game down south.
I know what you mean about too many foreigners Brydo, as I used to feel the same, but I actually see it as a positive thing now as it definitely develops the English players in the league by playing with the best players from other countries.

I’m not sure I agree with you on that one Willis. the introduction of so many non-English players limits the exposure the young guys can get and starves the national team of choice. Some young guys might benefit from foreign players coming in but players develop at different stages of their lives and many are “let go” prior to reaching their potential.
There’s no doubt in my mind that the Premier League is the best in the world but I think it’s to the detriment of the national team.

Silly as it might sound, I wouldn’t rule Klopp out of taking the job for a couple of good reasons.
The first is that he has said in several interviews since leaving Liverpool that although he obviously wants to work again at some point in the future, he can’t ever see himself working at the same intensity as he did at Liverpool, so an international managing job could give him that, with a lot less games and without the transfer pressures of club management. He could also have another few weeks holiday before actually taking the role.
The second reason is that Klopp is available now but if he wanted to get back into club football then it would probably only be with a very small number of clubs but there are no stand out candidates that are currently manager free. Klopp would be forced to wait for someone to be sacked, meaning that the club were probably doing badly, so he would need to rebuild. Managing England could offer him a chance to take on a team at a time when they have real potential right now.
I thought Klopp agreed a 2 year extension?
Klopp finished as Liverpool manager at the end of last season and Arne Slot took the job on from June 1st. Klopp is now out of work but said he wants to take a good break to recharge his batteries.

No Mike you misunderstand i can completely understand why they would want Klopp but I would be astonished if he took it.
