Blue skies this morning but chilly. Thought I would go out and clean the car in/out ready for when we pick up our Tuscon next Wednesday, but stated peeing down half way through and rained for rest of day.
Hope you are happy with the new engineer, As you say its not worth making yourselves ill over it. Let us know how you go on.
Unwrap the tape and remove the choc blocks (remember to turn electric off or isolate the circuit) bring the cable out higher if it suits better. Fit a 13A socket onto the existing cable but write/label print 6A max onto the socket where it can’t be seen when fair lights plugged in for aesthetic reasons, as suspect it’s coming off the lighting circuit. Then plug your fairy lights into it. You could also use a drywall box to flush mount the socket.
Is this suitable or were you thinking of something else?

Hi Brydo so you want to connect your fairy lights to the cable you are holding in your hand?
Forgot to say yesterday, you could also go to your local radio station or paper if you get no joy. Also worth giving citizens advice a call.
1979 apprentice electrician approx £22 p/w from memory.
Maybe be also worth a call to gas safe as well and do as Joss said if you can.
If I remember the non hybrids are slightly cheaper to buy outright than the Tuscon and hybrids dearer. |On mb Kia I think has an higher AP than Hyundai, so the standard ICE/MHEV versions in my opinion will be £300-£500 more than the equivalent Tucson’s. Has Rene has said the PHEV will be eyewatering AP.
Soon be Q2 and put out of our misery lol.
Wondering if anyone can comment – got mobile fitter due in a few weeks and they need access obviously to the car. Is it enough that its on a shared drive and has access between my car and the neighbours or for anyone who has had a mobile kwik fitter out, do you reckon they need more space than that? Can move it out onto the road but the road is only 2 cars width and very little passing space for other cars. Thinking about the safety of the guy coming out and not wanting him getting impatient motorists on his case. Thanks in advance
Ask him what he wants to do when he arrives, Im sure he would move it for you if he wanted it on the road.
Sorry to hear that and don’t go loosing sleep and blaming yourself. Have you reported the b@stards to trading standards.
I really like the look of the C5 but does anyone know if all colours are available without paying more or is there a surcharge. I had a look at the Hyundai Tuscon but unless you pay extra you get Red ! I previously had a Mitsubishi and Black cost me £500 where as BMW gave me any colour I wanted including premium paints at no extra cost. Has anyone else discovered add on paint charges only once your sitting at the sales desk ?
As far as I’m aware you can have any metallic colours at no extra cost. I got the Tuscon in Amazon grey and wasn’t charged any extra.
March 16, 2022 at 2:20 pm in reply to: Kia Sportage plug-in hybrid gets 43 miles of electric range #180188The engine sounds horrible
Agree. The same with the Tuscon very thrashy thrashy sound.
If and when it does join the scheme you will be looking at nearly £6k AP on top of the £10k sacrificed allowance of 3yrs. Given Mb don’t do you any favours should you wish to purchase after 3yrs, I’m afraid its a no go for me and my last guestimate when I ordered the Tuscon it would not be cost effective over the 3yrs against the ICE version.
Having said that I really like the interior of the Sportage compared to the Tuscon. The only thing I didn’t like was black area around the lower tailgate. It would also be nice if the hybrid 230 made it onto the scheme on either vehicle.
March 16, 2022 at 1:53 pm in reply to: Has anyone ordered a car then not heard from the dealer to even confirm a date #180187My experience of Hyundai dealerships is shocking to say the least, always requiring you to initiate any response from them. I have found it much more informative sending a msg via FB to Hyundai UK.
I remember when folk used to say that about Skoda cars.
Very true Chris. Indeed my current vehicle is a Skoda.
Just a minute, I’ve just had a nasty thought, could Motability be looking at this as a modern replacement for the old blue three wheeler.
Don’t go speaking your thoughts out loud, it may give Motability an unwanted idea lol.
I’d be embarrassed and no doubt the laughing stock of the street if I parked that on my drive lol.
Costa Del Neath S Wales a chilly 9 degrees with cloudy skies, but no powdery orange stuff yet.
Upcoming forecast guarantees it will be chillier indoors come 1St April!
I emailed Kia last December asking when it would be on the scheme and was told i’d be lucky if it made an appearance on the scheme in q3. In the end I ordered the Tuscon as it was one of the few cars on the scheme at the time that suited our needs. Though I must admit I do prefer the interior of the Sportage compared to the Tuscon.
I have ordered the new Tuscon and ideally would like all weather mats as I live near the coast in S Wales, which would make it easier to brush off the sand after a walk along the beach. Problem is the dealer wants £86 which is a ridiculous amount in my opinion. I have also seen a genuine set on ebay for £65 which again is not cheap. As others have said I can get aftermarket carpeted ones for around £20 which in all fairness I can see me getting at least in the interim until the aftermarket catches up, then look to purchase a set of rubber mats.
Thanks BigDave
How does the GCB work if you are in an extended lease? I will be getting my new lease vehicle hopefully this month and would have had my existing lease just under 5yrs. I received the £600 automatically around the 3yr period.
A little rant, why does mb not supply carpet mats with new vehicles. Surely its in their interest to do so when they come to sell the vehicle on.
Hi Chrisk,
God only knows mate, where it came from sorry,
Its more the dealers and their “lets replace this at your cost and see if it works
This practice has gone on for years.
My new lease vehicle will be ready for collection in the next 2 weeks and if fuel prices continue to rise, it will sadly be an expensive ornament sitting on the drive!
March 9, 2022 at 6:10 pm in reply to: Dealership rang me to change mot date even know it’s not due that month #179737Also took my car to Kwick Fit for MOT in January. Told mb I wasn’t going to wait at main dealers for 1.5 – 2hrs for an MOT and they wouldn’t collect it either.
I’d love the Sportage to Come back just hope ap not too high!
As a guestamate bases solely on Kia’s AP’s tend to be higher than its sister company Hyundai. I would say the Sportage Ap’s would be some £300 – £500 higher than that of the Tuscon.
Isar Highway dicking in Tilbury from tomorrow from Gdansk, expect more Tucson and other Hyundai’s on that.
