ZaheerI think more cars will be removed rather than any put on!
February 25, 2022 at 10:33 am #178601Mbo suspends the scheme, demands all cars be returned and runs away with the huge pot of cash they’ve built up and blames it all on russian hacker’s and them invading Ukraine, Also all car production is stopped in the west to aid the war effort and to make the armed drones and robot soldiers needed for victory.
Sadly the west loses the battle v the east as it just doesn’t have enough semi-conducters.

Maybe they will offer Soviet era Ladas on the scheme then?March 8, 2022 at 8:52 am #179596
coralieHi well been talking to lexus and they have said they are joining april first model to start with is the ux and more modlels will be adding during q2 and also kia has said the new sportage will be joing april to but didnt say what grades
March 8, 2022 at 9:38 am #179602If Lexus does join the scheme it will only be with the poor UX as the rest are just too expensive (I say “poor” as I have test driven the highest spec one and it was terrible)
March 8, 2022 at 9:52 am #179603I wonder if we will see the VW Tiguan e Hybrids turn up in Q2 as they’ve been in the VW Motability price list for a couple of months now.
At £7,799 AP for the Elegance trim it’s a bit too much for myself but with petrol going to the sky and other car’s AP’s going the same way too, who knows that AP could become attractive. ? ?
March 8, 2022 at 10:08 am #179604I don’t expect to see any changes for the better. I think we are still in the car number reduction phase of this brexit, chip shortage, pandemic and war period of our lives ????
The only person who got all his work done by Friday was Robinson Crusoe.
Anything i post over three lines long please assume it is an article lol.March 8, 2022 at 10:23 am #179609It will get worse before it gets better. We’ll have tough decisions to make, compromises and end up paying more than we’d like but even then MB will still be the best value option to most people.
If I seem a little strange, that's because I am.
Skoda Karoq SEL.
March 8, 2022 at 10:33 am #179611I have never seen the choice of cars as bad as it is now and the prices so high Seat for one was very good value now the AP is high and Skoda Range i hope with the new Fabia soon will return and as we know how long even if we order a car will we receive it.I contacted Toyota uk and they tell me if you order a yaris now you may get i in Sep? So anyone new to the scheme with no car at this time is going to miss the whole summer of not getting about.

I’d be well up for a Niva (provided it was auto which I think they’re now finally doing). Brilliant utilitarian 4×4!
March 8, 2022 at 12:44 pm #179623
ldc7080difficult to predict at the best of times but given that the semi conductor issues are still around and a war is happening right now i wont hold my breathe for additional vehicles to be put onto the scheme. if anything id say more coming off. it would appear that everyone is now stream lining their catalogue to help remove the complexity for manufacturing.
March 8, 2022 at 2:30 pm #179639
volkswinHa yeah problem with Niva’s great off road terrible on.
Back in the day you had to have arms like popeye to drive them, maybe the new ones have power steering.

LauraI’d love the Sportage to
Come back just hope ap not too high!
March 9, 2022 at 12:47 pm #179717
TardelliIt would be nice if Mini were introduced back onto the scheme, but unlikely!
First world problems abound at the moment
March 9, 2022 at 1:09 pm #179719I wonder if we will see the VW Tiguan e Hybrids turn up in Q2 as they’ve been in the VW Motability price list for a couple of months now.
Seems like this isn’t going to happen having just read that the VAG are stopping all production of Plug-In Hybrids for the Golf, Tiguan, Passat, Arteon and Touareg and no current orders will be completed this year.
Reading through the lines there saying about problems with semi-conductors is easing but now have problems with electrical parts from the Ukraine and also say that the EU are revaluating the environmental impact of plug in hybrids.
March 9, 2022 at 2:04 pm #179724I’d love the Sportage to Come back just hope ap not too high!
As a guestamate bases solely on Kia’s AP’s tend to be higher than its sister company Hyundai. I would say the Sportage Ap’s would be some £300 – £500 higher than that of the Tuscon.

GinnyDon’t know how to quote a post so here we go; Bandit wrote “I’d be well up for a Niva (provided it was auto which I think they’re now finally doing). Brilliant utilitarian 4×4!”
When my husband first joined the scheme in the 1990s, as well as the option to lease a car there was the option to use ones DLA to buy a vehicle over 5 years. The AP was effectively your deposit (like with HP). The lease was as we know it now, so you pay your AP (on most cars that had more than 3 doors and rubber mats) and all is included (less miles and tyres though). After 3 years you hand it back. With the other option you get to keep the car after 5 years, but had to pay for servicing, insurance, etc. You couldn’t lease a Lada (I wonder why), but you could buy one. Nearly got a Niva, but in the end leased a Rover 100.
Part of the reason he did not buy was because he was told he allways be able to lease (PIP was not even a twinkle in Tory eyes then). In hindsight he wishes he had got the Niva (it was the “luxury” Cossack variant), as he lost his HRM. Chances are the Niva would still be going strong. Thinking about it, not sure if the Riva and Niva were available or only the Samara. But the Cossack would have been fun.
March 10, 2022 at 10:29 am #179766VW Taigo surely that will come onto the scheme, its better looking than the T Roc its replacing.
March 10, 2022 at 10:39 am #179770Hi MickC
It’s more than likely will come on the scheme but only after non-Motability customers have had their chance to order one so I think Q2 2023 closer than Q2 2022 though I hope I’m wrong.

TomNot sure if it’s true of course but my local Kia dealer just informed me Sportage is to return between April 1-4th they aren’t sure on price point and he was honest that Automatics are hard to come by for private buyers ATM also so to expect heavy prices for a auto. Lowest entry his informed guess was 699 and a GT trim model starting from 1299 AP.
All in all I hope he’s right as I will be ordering straight away! Also mentioned Kia have a lot of Sportages due in the UK for end of March/April so as long as your not specific on colour’s there is a good chance of getting a car quickly also.

I completely agree. My wife ordered a Mini e in October (not on Motability) and that’s had delays, but now we’ve been told the plant is shutting down for a while.
Things are going to get worse before they get better.
I’m just glad I got my BMW i3s a year ago before any of this started.
March 13, 2022 at 9:36 am #179945Find it difficult to fathom VW’s model plans with the Taigo. It is virtually the same size as the T-Roc and almost exactly the same weight. It does very much the same job too – being a bit taller than a Golf but much the same otherwise. Only difference of note is lack of more powerful engines/4×4 on the Taigo. I test drove a 1.5L T-Roc and found it disappointingly underpowered. (Chose the 2.0L and am well happy thank you.) Imagine that the 1.5L Taigo will be similarly flat.
The whole sales approach seems to be to sell to Yoof – the slopey back is thought to appeal to youngsters and the TV ads feature a person by the name of Yugen Blakrok. This is a Yoof who makes rap sounds for a living, Presume VW believes that Yoof Taigo drivers will be so intent on listening to the rap-stuff that they won’t notice the lack of power.

ReneTo be fair, for the average person 150hp is plenty. Considerably more than one needs for sure. Wanting more is a different story, we did want more so we went for a 245hp model so i don’t exclude myself there – but 150hp is perfectly serviceable.
Especially with current petrol prices.
