The Citroen C5 X is an absolute dandy.

Lee BengoughStunning car the C5 X. I will admit as a Citroën fanatic Citroën has really pulled all the stops out the last 3 years.
C5 Aircross
New C4
and now the C5 X.
The C5 X is generously specced as well so even if you can’t afford the top spec you will still be happy with the lower spec models.

Stuart GI really like the look of the C5 but does anyone know if all colours are available without paying more or is there a surcharge. I had a look at the Hyundai Tuscon but unless you pay extra you get Red ! I previously had a Mitsubishi and Black cost me £500 where as BMW gave me any colour I wanted including premium paints at no extra cost. Has anyone else discovered add on paint charges only once your sitting at the sales desk ?
March 16, 2022 at 4:41 pm #180199usually the metaalics are free so the black and greys on the c5x would be free but you would pay £200 for the pearl white the difference between the metallic at £650 and the pearl at £850.
as i understand it its the same for most manufacturers although volvo did buck the trend for a while and charged even for metallic.

As far as I’m aware you can have any metallic colours at no extra cost. I got the Tuscon in Amazon grey and wasn’t charged any extra.
March 16, 2022 at 6:04 pm #180213Well its not all doom and gloom as these two cars bring a nice warm fuzzy feeling to the motability shopping list. I quite fancy either of them.
Wonder what the AP’s will be like?

ReneThe Sportage will be on the very top end. It’s the Tucson underneath, which currently tops out at £5600, but has additional equipment and is positioned more in the “premium segment”. If it follows logic (i know it doesn’t, but assumed it does) my guess would be £6500 for the Sportage GT Line S PHEV. If the PHEV comes to the scheme in the first place, it’s not yet available anyway and the Tucson similarly wasn’t available initially as the PHEV.
It’s basically a Tucson + the £1500 optional tech pack (which is standard in the Kia).
No idea about the C5X though. My guess would be that in top spec it tops out at around £4500-£5000, judging by the C5 Aircross price.
March 16, 2022 at 11:50 pm #180232If I remember the non hybrids are slightly cheaper to buy outright than the Tuscon and hybrids dearer. |On mb Kia I think has an higher AP than Hyundai, so the standard ICE/MHEV versions in my opinion will be £300-£500 more than the equivalent Tucson’s. Has Rene has said the PHEV will be eyewatering AP.
Soon be Q2 and put out of our misery lol.
March 17, 2022 at 12:48 am #180234I hope I’m wrong but I wouldn’t hold my breath with regards to anything the motability agents tell you. I’ve lost count of the times they’ve told me some car or other is coming on the scheme and it hasn’t.
I don’t think they deliberately mislead anyone I just think the information they have at hand is incorrect or maybe overly optimistic ?
The only person who got all his work done by Friday was Robinson Crusoe.
Anything i post over three lines long please assume it is an article lol.March 17, 2022 at 10:26 am #180259The less choice we have the more AP’s will go up. I can see the Sportage being one of the most expensive cars on the scheme as it will be one of the most popular.

Yes, and with the eye watering AP’s even for cars from the budget & mid-market manufacturers, you have to wonder what the AP’s will be like should any of the premium manufacturers ever return to the scheme!

My fear is if Motability get enough people paying high AP’s they will not bring them down.

It looks a beautiful car. Reminds me a lot of my old C6 which was an incredible car.

JoeHoping for a Sportage GT Line S mild hybrid auto for sub £4k – wishful thinking probably
March 18, 2022 at 12:40 am #180352Back in the day (1990s) Motability cars only came with standard colours. If you wanted a metallic colour you had to pay the list price price (more than most APs). So consequently most of the cars had non-metallic paint. This (so I was told) led to Motability being left with a load of cars in standard paint while all the other cars with metallic plaint flew off the lot. So these days Motability generally allows a “free” choice when it comes to paint. Some times there is a cost with some of the premium/premium paints; usually the difference between the premium and premium/premium.

LauraWhy is it when I called Kia dealer they say not coming back to scheme
March 18, 2022 at 3:12 pm #180410There are so many rumours about what might or could join. I prefer to wait and see what actually is available.
March 18, 2022 at 3:34 pm #180413
Lee BengoughUp until now Citroen has never changed for the premium colours so hopefully they will be the same with the C5 X.
My current red C4 the paint is £700 same red as Citroën sister company Peugeot who charges the difference to Motability customers.

TomSome know more than others possibly? My local Kia dealer has been a motability specialist for 18 years and has a very good relationship with his regional manager, he confirmed to me about the Sportage returning and even said entry prices around 799 although that was speculation around the prices.
March 19, 2022 at 2:31 pm #180498
DanteI love the look of the new Sportage and had a look at it, in the metal at my local dealership.
But as I can only afford £360 [saving £10 a month during each lease] plus GCB and now the £250 (if still in place when I next order) gives me just over £1k towards an AP. My condition and access needs means a require an auto mid sized SUV.
Current limited choice and continually rising, and imho extortionate, AP’s reduces choice even further for many on either basic benefit, low income or very limited means. I’m my case many APs are equivalent to my universal credit for between 1 – 2 years or more !!
when I come to change my current motability car – it’ll look likely that I’ll be extending my current lease.but I’ll dream about the new Sportage for now zzzzz
