I’m due to get my R-Line Tech in black purely because my wife hates white cars.
Sad, but true.

I had exactly the same issue with the CX-5. Stunning car but both test drives I had resulted in the same issues with the seat bolsters. They’re just too narrow for me.
(slimming is not an option. :-D)

September 15, 2019 at 9:51 pm in reply to: Could Prime Minister Boris Johnson break up the UK? #87616Just saw Jo Swinson on Andrew marr show spoke very well and looked very nice I didn’t know she was Scottish Brydo ?
Given come of the things she said, including the claim that she was going for a majority LibDem government with her as pm, I suspect that she’d simply popped into the studio halfway through a walk of shame after a heavy night out on the lash.

They can, but only if I have mine on retention. I was wondering how far in advance I had to apply for the certificate.

Marshall’s of Oxford are offering £400 of all models. VW in Hull are offering £500 off Tiguan’s at the moment but it was too far for me to travel.

My only criticism of the car is the stop start is sometimes a bit slow, especially in traffic, a few times the system will stop the engine (more noticeable driving up hill) just as you want to be moving off. Doesnt happen every time and that’s the only minor dislike I can think of.
I’m not really a fan of stop start. If I can turn it off, I will.

Good choice Dougie lots of us have the tiguan, for a reason, great cars, they’ve had the latest tech in them since launch and even better with the discounts available. Looks are always personal taste, I like the understated but purposeful looks myself. Ours has just ticked over 13k in 9 months of trouble free effortless driving and the mpg and the gearbox are better then ever.
Can’t wait to get it now. I do like a good gadget!

Just to close this topic off, I ordered my new car yesterday: Tiguan 2.0 TDI DSG R-Line Tech in nice shiny black!
Fantastic service from Marshalls of Oxford and with a nice £400 discount. Happy days.

I’ve asked my two local VW dealers if they can do likewise. I’ll give them until Monday and if they don’t come back to me then I’ll be going to Marshalls.
I was planning to blanket email every dealer within 60 miles of me (Marshalls is 120 miles away) but my first choice came back with an offer I really couldn’t refuse. I get the feeling some of them have the attitude that the price stated is the price you pay, you just have to find the ones that are willing to think a little differently.
Neither dealer even bothered to get back to me.

Wow… that’s an amazing offer. As someone about to order one which would be due for delivery in the first week of December, my only concern is that my first drive in it would be a 170 mile trip from the potentially frozen North.
When Marshall’s in Oxford are offering £400 off, is it really worth the risk for the sake of £100?
Probably not.

DougieB, it is NOT the taxpayers money. The government is not giving us a car, as they did with the blue invalid carriages. The government give us money to help overcome our disabilities. We can spend that on a world cruise if we wish. We can spend it on Taxis instead of getting a car from Motability or anywhere else, many do. There is no obligation to do anything particular with it, because once given, it is our money, not the taxpayers.
Ultimately, it is still taxpayers money and YES, I too am a taxpayer and have been for my entire working life so am well aware of the sensitivities of that statement. That does not however, deter me from making it because ANY money handed out by the state is effectively MY money.
And yes, we should all be grateful for the help we receive from the state because it helps make our lives easier. No one begrudges assistance to anyone who deserves or requires it but it is a bit rich asking for motability to hand money back to us when we use it by choice.

After all, it’s our money. If Motability Operations make surpluses shouldn’t that money be returned to us?
It’s not YOUR money, it’s the taxpayers money and even though Motability make a profit, as individuals we still get astonishing value for the money we hand over.

He is like others who can not get a decent EV on the scheme. The Motability Wiki makes interesting reading. Explains why there is a monopoly.
There are other options available if you don’t want to use Motability.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. The scheme offers incredible value and choice for the customer, there’s nothing else like it in the world. Nobody is forced to use it or pay big AP’s, there’s something for everyone apart from those who want the moon on a stick. If Motabilty can make a massive profit from supplying me with a good car, good value and good service then good luck to them.
My thoughts exactly.
Motablity is an astonishing organisation staffed by some truly fabulous people and they deserve better than to be criticised in this manner. As you say, there are plenty of alternatives for those who think they can do better.

I’m actually offended by this thread.
WE are being provided with access to an astonishing range of vehicles all paid for by the taxpayer and yet people are here complaining because they resent the fact that because they choose something better than a basic model, they actually have to pay something out of their own pocket!
That’s either incredible selfish or it’s basic arrogance. I’m not sure which but either way, you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Some of the Kia Sporage models are zero AP for WPMS holders.
I’ve had one for three years and like you, have back issues. It’s been awesome.

Never had a single problem, quite the opposite in fact.
