Heated seats and heated steering wheel are not standard on the SE, they come as part of the level one pack.
Heated seats are standard on the Monochrome.

April 10, 2026 at 6:27 am in reply to: Electricity tariffs and setting up of EV home charging procedures #351722I’m an existing Octopus customer in the South-East and have only added IOG this week when my box was fitted. My rate is 8p off-peak.
On which note, is there a way to see how much each individual charge costs?

Hey Doug I may be interested, considering the new APs & the cars I was looking forward to not joining the scheme I will probably order the HS hybrid+ next week as it was my fallback option especially considering there are a few dealers already offering it with “Nil” AP seems like a no brainer also I’m not to far from you. if you don’t mind me asking what made you cancel your HS?
Sweet, just let me know.
I cancelled because of issues with my dealer and as great as the HS is, and I’ve had one for three years so I speak from personal experience, I didn’t reorder with another simply because I’ve taken the decision to go full EV.

I would stick them individually on ebay as @Jojoe says. It will also be safer than putting your address or phone number publicaly on the forum – You don’t know who’s about
I wouldn’t put my address anywhere public!

Standouts for me are the AP’s for WPMS customers for the Mini Countryman. Made my mind up for me! No IM5 though.
What made you cancel the HS? The Monochrome desn’t get electric seats, heated steering wheel…
I had issues with the dealer and their customer service which was lacking, to say the least.
I was going to simply order elsewhere but having visited my local dealers and took a Countryman EV out for a test and really enjoying it, the combination of a rise in the HS’s AP and such decent AP’s on the Countryman have me seriously thinking about it. BTW, the Monochrome does have heated seats, but no wheel (although never having had that, I’ll hardly miss it).

@DougieB The challenge that I suggested that you make was to the dealership, not Motability. It’s not really their issue. Over the years I have been on this forum there have been at least two other people in the same position as you. In both instances I gave them the same advice, which they used to formulate a letter or email. Within a week, both had their deposits refunded. I really don’t think that you will need to get as far as an ombudsman. The sales person is just being an ar@e
I understand, that is my next step. I was simply clarifying my position with Motability ahead of that. The salesman is indeed, an @-hole.
So you can chalk up another success! I mailed the branch manager on Monday incorporating your advice and lo and behold, they called me yesterday and the full £365 is already back in my bank account.
Thanks so much for the advice and with Q1 now up and running, the search begins for a replacement although in all honesty, with the Mini Countryman AP’s as they are, it’s a no brainer. I may even go the EV route!

So further to this, I had to cancel my order with my dealers due to losing my entitlement but whilst they have cancelled, they have refused to refund my AP. Instead, they have informed me that they will hold it for 6 months to be used as a deposit should I be able to order again. If I can’t, they’ll keep the money. There doesn’t seem to be any inclination to discuss this further from their end so does anyone have any suggestions? Or do I just swallow the loss of £365 and move on?
As @kezo says, they have to refund your deposit. It is important to note that with Motability we never enter into a contract with a dealership. The only contract that you enter into is with Motability Operations, and that only becomes binding at the point that you enter your PIN on the day that you collect. Although it is advisable not to pay a deposit (to avoid situations such as this), dealers are at liberty to ask for one. However, I am assuming that they didn’t inform you when asking for the deposit that it would be non-refundable, and you didn’t sign anything to that effect? I would go back to the salesperson and say that you have taken advice on this issue and would like your deposit refunded. You agreed to pay a deposit in good faith as a statement of intent, but it wasn’t a legally binding contract. Through no fault of your own, you are now unable to proceed with the order. The dealership has no right to retain your deposit when the item that you paid the deposit for is no longer being provided. They also have no right to insist that, should you subsequently be able to order, any replacement vehicle must be sourced by them. If the salesperson won’t budge say that you will be writing to the Dealer Principal. Good luck and let us know how it goes. Personally I would use a different dealership next time. I have ordered an extremely expensive private car and the dealer has agreed up front that, if for any reason I need to cancel the order prior to delivery, they will absorb it into stock. There are plenty of good dealerships and sales persons out there so that we can avoid the bad ones.
This is great information, thank you so much. I’ll give it a shot and will of course, let you know how I get on.
Just a follow up to the above. I spoke to Motability and they informed me that any deposit, even an AP is for the dealers and only refundable at their discretion.
Their advice is to put in an official complaint to the dealers head office and see what comes back. At this point, they suggest contacting the ombudsman. At this point, they (Motability) may get involved.
Not an ideal resolution, but the fight will continue!

March 21, 2026 at 8:02 pm in reply to: Electricity tariffs and setting up of EV home charging procedures #348428Could someone explain to an absolute EV novice (me) what would be the best setup starting from scratch.
For example, I know Motability will provide a home charger and since I’m currently on Octopus for my home supplier and am very happy with them so will Motability install a suitable charger which would work with my home supplier? Or are their better options?

Morning Doug, for me I’m loving the MG, the saving on fuel from the Volvo (heavy right foot though admittedly) even the Wife has noticed. When looking at the Mg, size, space and AP were a positive. I have no idea the pricing of ev’s, installation for cables etc.. Not sure if price comes into it for you, but if I need to hand this car back for any reason then I’m not going short of money either..
I hear you.

So this is the quandary I now face.
I have an MG hybrid+ on order for delivery at the end of this month. Are these rising fuel prices the incentive I need to cancel my order and make the leap to fully EV?

To be fair, when I ordered my new MG HS Hybrid in December, the dealers had an offer of £499 off all Motability orders and gave me £200 off a WPMS order which I felt was fair enough.
When the prices for Q1 came out, and the price had fallen to £47, they matched that price and have repaid the balance of the deposit I paid.

The MG was too low and the boot was too small.
I hear you about the boot! Amazing it’s so small for a car that big.

Can I ask why the MG isn’t suitable? I have similar issues as those you list and it’s perfect for me.

So having planned to visit my dealer this afternoon to discuss cancelling my order, they rang me this morning out of the blue and told me that they’d readjusted the AP to reflect the new Q1 price and having paid in full, I would be refunded the difference of £168 when I collect the vehicle.
That’s what I call customer service so a shout out to Palmers of Hemel Hempstead.

Exactly as BigDave says. You can cancel at any time and there is no cost. If you have paid a deposit the dealer must refund it. We do not enter into a legally binding contract with a dealer at any time. The only legally binding contract is with Motability Operations, and that only commences when you enter your PIN when you accept the vehicle.
Is this correct? I paid my AP in full when I ordered, albeit with a sizable discount, and am quite happy with my choice. But the AP fell by a significant amount in Q1 so if cancelling and reordering is an option, I’m going to take it.

The MG HS Hybrid + at £47 (WPMS) surely has to be the bargain of the century.
