A tracker don’t tell you who’s actual driving the car, just where it maybe parked overnight for example, if for instance it’s parked at a named drivers house overnight say or 5 miles away from the claimants address on a regular basis. I have heard a few people on here, who said that they had to agree to having a tracker fitted to get their next car. MBO had no issue with when my last brother got married and moved out of my mum’s house as she didn’t drive and also his wife was added as they both worked quite near where our mum lived also. They was also allowed to drive the car to their home adresss outside the m25 when my mum lived in camden. It was however used for my mum and so they could get to her if needed and mb knew about the situation. So i guess it’sone of those situations where if you not upfront and do abuse the scheme as some must do, just as some abuse blue badges. I live 140 miles away and was the only driver of my scheme cars. so i doubt they’d need to fit a tracker to make sure it is being used by the claimant and goe’s to there address regularly.
IMHO, if a car isn’t kept at the claimants address, a tracker should be fitted automatically. That would show if the named user made regular visits to the claimants home address. If they didn’t, it would surely warrant further investigation.
Similarly, if it was used by a named driver to make regular visit to specific addresses, a place of work or the school run for example, could that really be judged as being of benefit to the claimant?

This happened to one of my neighbours a few years ago after they did get caught abusing the scheme. They got a car and gave it to a family member who was all over the country on business, I don’t have any issues with it.
I fail to understand how or why anyone would not have an issue with blatant fraud of this kind.

The six month window would, IMHO, be an extremely sensible move given the current climate.

The last sentence “If we didn’t suspend orders, more Motability customers would be left disappointed next year.” doesn’t make sense. If they didn’t suspend orders, there would be more Motability customers happy that they were getting the car they wanted next year, NOT disappointed customers next year. So long as the KIA dealerships were honest about the expected delivery dates, customers wouldn’t be disappointed. The truth is that KIA earn more money from private purchases and (understandably) would rather sell to them and don’t want to risk those sales. So long as Motability don’t offer manufacturers competitive prices for their vehicles, they will have no interest in Motability sales. This was different went supply issues weren’t a problem. Dealerships were happy to not earn much from Motability because it still counted towards their sales, which in turn led to the dealerships getting bigger discounts from the manufacturers. Dealerships no longer need these Motability sales to boost their sales because manufacturers can’t even keep up with the volume of regular private purchases.
My son works on the procurement side of a major vehicle leasing company and they hammer manufacturers margins to within an inch of their lives. Motability is simply following industry practice.

Nothing can be done. At my local cinema complex there are 22 disabled parking spaces and on any given evening, between half and a third are occupied by cars and vans not displaying badges. The worst offenders are these b***dy delivery drivers who seem to think they have a god given right to park anywhere.
I’ve complained numerous times but they never do anything about it.
I’m curious to know, how would people who use electric vehicles feel if an ICE car parked in a charging bay?

I don’t know if you are aware, but you don’t have to pay for AdBlue on a Motability car. A dealer can fill it up for you and bill them directly.
I do know that. But my dealer is miles away.
Yeah, I must confess that when we had diesel VW’s I used to get them topped up during a service or if I was in the area and running low but, like you, it was miles away so I kept a supply at home and did it myself most times. Having moved to a petrol car last year I have to say that I don’t miss the faff of it, plus I didn’t predict that diesel would end up 15p a litre more than petrol. I don’t choose cars for their fuel economy, but as well as being a lot quieter, I hadn’t expected our petrol car to achieve 5mpg better fuel economy than our previous diesel! However, we only do around 10,000 miles a year now, so moving from diesel to petrol was an easy decision this time and I’ve had loads of diesels over the years (thankfully almost all were in the pre AdBlue days)!
I’m due to renew in December and will most definitely be following suit!

Unless you live out in the wilds, modern tyres are so good that there’s absolutely no point in fitting them these days.

Crisps shortage has nothing to do with artificial restriction of supply and all to do with Brexit. Crisps are bulky, drivers are few, we can’t recruit from europe and there are more valuable things to shift than crisps.
What absolute nonsense. This has absolutely nothing to do with Brexit and nor do we need to recruit drivers from Europe. What we need is the DVLA strike to be concluded and the 50,000 plus licence applications they’re currently sitting on to be actioned.
However, with regard to the issue of crisps, a simple google will tell you that the shortage of Walkers crisps is primarily due to an IT issue. Nothing to do with drivers or Brexit!

Even my local Tesco is 149.9. Shameful!

I then got home and my tailgate refused to open because the liner had somehow moved. That took me another hour to work out how to open it from the inside.

I know this might sound like a simple question but… have you made sure it’s not deactivated from pressing the button on the steering wheel? this caught me out at the beginning lol
I thought I had, but it turned out that it was exactly that. Took Autoglass 2 minutes to sort it out and the guy told me that he’d only discovered how to do it by accident on his girlfriends car.
That said, you’d have thought he’d have tested it when he handed it back to me on Wednesday.

I have that interior on my R-Line and I wear jeans all the time. I also do about 10K a year so it gets pounded and have cleaned the interior a grand total of 4 times. The latest being done by the VW dealers who gave it its first service yesterday.
It looks as good today as it did when I picked it up. N0 need to worry.

The issue is that some people simply can’t drive manuals due to the nature of their injury, hence the allowance.
Whilst I appreciate the inevitable (if crazy IMHO) move in that direction, there will always be those for whom a fully battery powered vehicle is impractical so if Motability if to continue to function, it will have to retain a degree of flexibility or people will simply go elsewhere.

Massive profits involved in this scheme, the grant thing to me seems as if we’re begging for help, gives off the we’re the poor relation attitude to the scheme.. Dip in to the millions and help people out ffs, cost me a fortune just for auto transmission that I need…
Nonsense. The WPMS scheme was designed to support those in receipt of a war pension which can only be awarded for an injury attributed to service.
To call it begging is bordering on offensive. If you regard it as such, stop claiming it. Simple.

That’s the way I read it too, I have never had it when there is no manual equivalent . But some people have stated they still get the grant when there is no manual version on here a few months back, thought the must have got it wrong ..
If they did, they shouldn’t have.

The grant is to cover the difference of the additional cost of an auto box over a manual up to a maximum of £600. However, if there’s no manual alternative, there’s no need for the grant so it won’t be paid.

Hi DougieB, I used to work for a private car parking company who used to operate Tesco’s car parks. Working in the appeals department, I discovered the moment the appellant started using the word ‘I’, they were admitting fault and therefore, the appeal would be rejected. What we were seeking was the drivers details at the time of incident, however, the driver could’ve been anyone and not necessary the car’s owner. I would suggest that you decline to offer the driver’s details as the PCN is essentially a notice of ‘ill’ parking. If you don’t mind me asking, who was the PCN issued from?
It came from Private Parking Solutions.
So if I decline to name who was driving (and there are two insured drivers with RSA) what’s the next likely stage?
Or do I simply point out that the vehicle wasn’t parked and simply appeal on the basis that it had stopped to allow a disabled person with mobility problems to get into the car.
