What should I consider

      Hi all

Looking for a bit of advice.

for my new car I need a large SUV. So far I have looked at the 7 seater ones the 5008, x trail, Kodiaq and Tiggo 8.

I need it to be as high as possible both in terms of getting in and driving position.   I also have to have heated driver seat and electric tailgate.

I have looked at the 7 seat SUV’s as I knew they would have a large boot.

Does anyone know which 5 seater SUV’s have very large boots and are very high up?

I have looked at the MG’s but they were not suitable

We are ideally looking for hybrid or ice as our other car is fully electric and at time we do need to make last minute trips of very long distances where time is of the essence (not saying anything bad about the fully electric we love it).

For context our full electric car is an enyaq and it is a little low for me to get in and out of.

      thanks for any recommendation.

Can I ask why the MG isn’t suitable? I have similar issues as those you list and it’s perfect for me.

Current car: MG HS Exclusive in nice shiny black. 🙂

The MG was too low and the boot was too small.

I hear you about the boot! Amazing it’s so small for a car that big.

5 seat Kodiaq etc, though leaving the rear most two seats down serves the same purpose.

We were looking at SUV type vehicles to accommodate a double dog crate for our two dogs, one of which is my daughters assistance dog.

Exhaustive search of Kodiaq, Tayron, 5008, Santa Fe, Ioniq 9 and others led us to ditch the idea of an SUV. We looked at a Citroën Berlingo and our thought process changed instantly. Loads of room on the boot. Couldn’t bare the thought of owning a Citroën so moved our attention to VW Caddy Maxi Life or Ford equivalent. VW can be spec’d as a 5 seater if you don’t want 7. Nice to drive too – surprisingly so!!!

Would have ordered one but for thinking even bigger – Transporter Shuttle LWB – but that’s just gone off the Scheme much to our annoyance.

We have very similar requirements, our current top two are the Peugeot 5008 and the Tiggo 8. We may take a look at the KGM Actyon. The X-Trail isn’t as big as it appears and the Kodiaq was poor value for money in a decent trim level.

The 5008 is looking favourite, huge boot and hybrid but I actually prefer the style of the Tiggo 8, however the hybrid is expensive and the ICE has terrible MPG.

If I seem a little strange, that's because I am.

                  Skoda Karoq SEL.

Wasn’t at all impressed by the 5008. Tried to get in the back row of seats and it was a non starter! Very narrow space and boot was nowhere near wide enough for a double dog crate. It was then the salesman pointed us to the Berlingo fir something with real space in the boot compartment!

                      Have you compared leasing deals?

The average average sacrified benefit over 3 year with inflation will probably average out at around £340. The  AP for the Summit PHEV works out at £160 per month, combined £500 per month / £17,989 total

As an example Carwow for the Summit PHEV inc maintainence over 3 years 30k miles works out at £328.20 per month / £15,773.40 – £2216 cheaper, which would cover insurance, pair of front tyres and some left over and thats before Motability apply VAT on AP’s!

                        Thanks folks for the recommendations.

Unfortunately leasing would not work for me. I live in London where prices are already high but I also need the amazing flexibility this comes with being able to swap drivers on the insurance.
