Ordered my Tiguan R-Line this afternoon. Dealer is estimating mid-January or early Feb at the latest for delivery. The annoying thing is, they actually had the car I wanted IN STOCK for immediate use but Motability told me that I couldn’t change until January even though I’ve been given the go-ahead to order.
Annoyingly one-sided in that regard – they have no problem making you wait way past your date (remember its Mota who will not let you order until you’re 3 months from the end of your lease, even though they are well aware that several manufacturers and models have way more than a 3 month build time) but a few weeks early? Oh no – we won’t let you do that…
Bog-standard R-Line 2.0 diesel Auto in standard pure white – I know it’s the most common colour but I do think it’s the best looking one – the only other colour I liked was the grey but the XC-60 I have now is almost exactly the same colour and I wanted a change, and no way was I paying an extra grand for a little pearl over the white…

Some cars suit white and the twiggy is definitely one that does. Well done January will be a blink of the eye.
October 23, 2019 at 11:42 pm #930267 year old son and an American wife – we have Half-term, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas holidays, Christmas itself, and New Year to deal with – you’re absolutely right when you say it’ll fly past lol

October 24, 2019 at 7:05 am #93056Colin it looks fantastic Winston has one on here and I sat in the showroom in one last week best car on motability ! The 3 month will fly past
October 24, 2019 at 9:31 am #93078Great choice Colin. ?
This is at the top of my list but a lot can happen in 9 months. ?
Regarding the colour, is there definitely a charge for the pearl? I’m new to Motability but was led to believe we could have any colour at no charge. If there definitely is, is it because it’s a ‘special’?
Looking forward to hearing about it post pick-up. ? ⏰?? I will be remembered for nothing but had great fun doing it ?
October 24, 2019 at 9:49 am #93082I think it varies by dealer/brand sometimes – Skoda and Seat both told me there was no charge for any colour (although Seat doesn’t charge ANYONE for colour so that doesn’t mean much). When I got my Volvo 3 years ago that dealer also told me there was no charge for the colour (and he actually said that Motability insist on Metallics being free as they help future value) but when I enquired about the Tiguan Allspace in Haberno Orange, I was told it was a £1000 option.
I THINK (don’t quote me on this) that you CAN get most metallic or solid colours at no charge but the dealers do still charge extra for the Special Edition or high Pearls. Then again it might be 100% down to how recently the other half took care of business when you’re sitting across from the dealer…

AlanI ordered an R-Line Tech in white, with no extras, 3 weeks ago and was told delivery would be March. Have’t had a tracking number yet so I can’t check. 🙁

ShaineIf you want the pearl or non standard colours you only pay the difference in price between the metallic and more expensive pearl colours, you do not have to pay the full amount. So in the case of the Tiguan you would pay £415 for the pearl white colour.

WinstonGood choice Colin and I’m sure it will fly
regrading the colour and costs
before I had ordered mines I spoke to about 10 different VW dealerships and they all said the same thing I’d need to pay the full £1035 for the Oryx White paint, I called Motability 3 times and they too said I would need to pay the full £1035 and not the difference between the free metallic paint cost and the Oryx White
this didn’t sit with me at all
anyways fast forward some more searching and then speaking with the living legend that is Roger from JCT600 in Hull and it was him that said , No you only pay the difference
so like a lot of things on the scheme there are rules ( plenty of them ) then there are sharks and decent good guys have a better understanding and interpretation of those rules
and Roger is def one of the good guys!
but the pure white on your car is really nice, it’s almost identical to the Glacier White I had on my last 2 Audi’s , and that’s a really looking colour ( especially when it’s clean and shiney )
congrats on your choice

PhiljbYep it does suit the car but it’s a real bummer to keep clean, that and black, Vw tried to make us except black saying it’s east to keep clean?
yeah right!!! If your fit and able bodied maybe?October 24, 2019 at 2:38 pm #93156Best is silver Phil to keep clean
October 24, 2019 at 2:55 pm #93162
WinstonTbh I think it’s a nice looking and kinda masculine looking big thing lol
especially from the front and side , so it looks nice in all the colours that are on offer
as for keeping it clean I wish I able enough to do that myself!
absolutely no chance of that happening lol

Thank you Winston. It sounds like I’ll know for sure when I ask. You’re definitely right about sharks and good guys. The sad thing is the former outnumber the latter!

Best car on Motability – lol
October 24, 2019 at 4:23 pm #93188What is then a Elliot ?
October 24, 2019 at 4:28 pm #93192It’s a very average ordinary looking box and definitely not the best car on the scheme.
But each to their own.

Zaheer76I picked up my white R-Line Tech at the end of July. Unfortunately the car had endless problems with ACC, Cornering Lights, Lane Assist. Went back to the dealers on 6 occasions due to the same recurring fault which could not be rectified even after specialist teams got involved. Needless to say, the car has spent more time at the dealers than with us so we eventually escalated this with Motability and cancelled the contract.
Having a choice of cars before us again, I didn’t hesitate to re-order the Tiguan R-Line Tech from our good old friend Roger in Hull. This time we went for Indium Grey just to make it feel like a different car. The original White one was specced with Heated Rear Seats and Side Scan.
This time I specced Heated rear seats, Emergency Assist, TPMS, and HUD.
Been told to expect the car around end of January. I’m thinking of collecting it 1st March – may aswell get it on the ‘20’ plate.
October 24, 2019 at 4:32 pm #93194What will you do Zaheer if the next one is just as bad?
October 24, 2019 at 4:37 pm #93195
Zaheer76I think it’s fair to see that I ended up with a Lemon. The issues I’ve had are very unique and I’ve yet to come across anyone else with the same issues. I think I’ve just had bad luck and ended up with a Friday afternoon car. The vast majority of Tiguan owners rarely have any issues.
Then again, in terms of value, I feel the R-Line tech offers the best in terms of Tech for the money you put down in AP.
I have looked at the XC40, and RAV4. The AP when matching those cars with what the Tiggy offers is a no brainier – Tiggy all the way. Three years down the line this may all change.

MacPhystaI was quoted the same 10-12 weeks lead time but when pushed the salesman admitted it was more like at least 24 weeks (ish) due to compliance issues relating to their diesel scandal rather than production problems.
October 24, 2019 at 8:08 pm #93240One of the reasons we ended up with the White (other than the fact that I actually WANTED the white) was that the car we’re getting is already on order for stock which may explain why its due when it is as opposed to the full 4-5 months most are being quoted. They aren’t ordering a car FOR me, they’re allocating a car already in progress TO me. It just so happened that one of the cars they have already ordered for stock purposes happened to be a bog-standard 2WD R-Line auto, at least that’s the impression I got from the dealer. I basically ended up with whatever colour would be landing at about the right time for my Volvo lease end

October 24, 2019 at 10:11 pm #93260I’m due to get my R-Line Tech in black purely because my wife hates white cars.
Sad, but true.
Current car: Mini Countryman EV in very shiny black!
Previous car: MG HS Exclusive in nice shiny black.
October 25, 2019 at 2:43 am #93285My wife and son had lots of say in the Volvo so was my turn this time. Her only option was to say yes or no lol – MY choices this time around

AnnekaI also ordered a VW Tiguan R Line in the Oryx white (hides face) the dealer said I will get it half price as motability will pay half for premium paints so I thought why not lol add a little sparkle in my life. Still haven’t got a build date or anything and I ordered 7/9/2019 as the dealer said it would be a 3mth wait. Would love to have it right now as I’ve never had a motability car so this is my first and hopefully not my last.
