Window eye line height is a very important factor when choosing a WAV, my family has had 5 vehicle over the years and we had to change from a VW transporter at the next lease to a Mercedes sprinter to get good vision for my eldest son.
Measure your mum’s eye line height while sitting in her chair to the floor , then make sure you ask every dealer/seller for the height of their vans windows, its an easy oversight yet a critical one .
You need a good 2-3 inches height above that eye to get good views out the side windows, also watch out for vehicles with big side pillars at the point your mum would be sitting, blocking the side view……home demonstration is an absolute priority…..good luck.
My two disabled boys like to see the deco’s up, so normally do them on the 1st Dec ….as they say ..you only need to do them once ??
The forum is like ‘hotel California’ you can check out but never leave ????
The only people who truly understand are those who walk in your shoes…
How very true ????
We have two disabled family members and also have two vehicles (WAV’s) We’ve never had any negative comments but I guess with wheelchairs It’s obvious what the disability is.
As others have said would love not to have any vehicles on the scheme and they be 100% healthy but that is the hand of cards life has dealt us so we get on with life the best we can ??
Very upsetting ? Did the thieves break in and get the keys ?
In the last few years councils have made it very difficult to park a big WAV in provided parking bays, on our days out to the south coast seaside resorts like Hastings and Brighton, Yellow line parking is the only option, then you have to make very sure you are not in the way due to the size of the vehicle ?
From past experience driving a Renault Master and Mercedes Sprinter WAV’s is there are very few parking spaces that are big enough , so We would go for on street parting on single or double yellow lines without yellow curb flashes (with blue badge)
Or a parking bay at the end of a row in the street so you can lower the ramp or tail lift without cars parking behind you .it is more of a challenge theses days with many curbs have the yellow flashed down the curb edge .
Middle size vans like the VW transporter are still too high for multi story carparks, so you could be restricted to Peugeot Rifter smaller WAV.
We gave captain Tom a few quid the other day so this windfall will help during our 12 week isolation .
Yes there are two sides to every coin ?
Agree ??
Excellent …that’s taken the worry out of car ownership in the current climate .
March 25, 2020 at 10:37 pm in reply to: Are we likely to see any corona virus benefits relating to cars on scheme? #110293I agree with a couple of guys above Motability will have no choice but to extend leases on vehicle as little or no new stock will be available for a long time after the virus has gone, production lines will take a long time to get back upto speed and have to decide if to use components from the Far East or make them closer to home. .
That’s great news and a benefit if you love your vehicle but bad if you can’t see the back of it quick enough !
My thoughts with the tube is construction workers are using it early morning this is the same time key workers are starting work, so stopping all construction sites in London for the next month or longer this could help the spread of the virus .
A key one would be Will we see any refund in payments due to vehicles not being used! In most cases they will recoupe the money in residual sales due to lower mileage cars
I was asking the same question to my wife yesterday , we are now doing self isolation, so my disabled son will not be using his WAV for 12 week ?
Our Peugeot Rifter had the Ad Blue low level light come up a few weeks after delivery , I rang them and they sent me some as the converter was in Scotland and I’m in Kent .
Not difficult to add but glad for this thread as I won’t need to do it again, wonder if it’s done automatically during a service …or do we have to ask ?
I’ve driven the Peugeot partner tepee robotic multi mode auto box and it works very well, now have a Peugeot Rifter and the auto gearbox is excellent .
I was in a Kia dealership the other month and was sitting in a Picanto GT line and was asking the salesman questions …he said the picanto auto is being replaced with a Robotic auto gearbox so no longer a traditional talk converter box, it could be a transition from old to new style gearbox at the factory and the old style are all sold out hence why no longer on the scheme.
I was making inquiries on my daughters behalf but only looking at a used example, I can see them becoming sort after if the new gearbox is not as good as the old one ?
For me I was diagnosed with Prostate cancer in 2017 but all caught early and had brachytherapy treatment and 2019 was the year I was signed off as all clear and can look to the future .
Being a career for two adults disabled sons it was aworrying time but I’ve got my smile back now ?
January 24, 2020 at 10:27 pm in reply to: HOW MANY OF YOU GOT A FULL TANK OF FUEL COLLECTING CAR #104037All our WAV conversions had a full take when they left for delivery to us but living in Kent , two vans came from Scotland and two from Liverpool area ?
We’ve only ever has WAV conversions and they have arrived on odd months of the year.
The lidi In my local town has four charging bays but selfish none electric car owners just use the bays for parking, you would be well annoyed to find you can’t charge your car…and the store just seems to be interested in getting customers through the doors .
I rang them twice last year about a problem with our van and twice they said would get back to me but never did …..disappointing !
There are two sides to this problem….one yourself in not wanting a damaged new car and two….Motability not to concerned as long as you sign for it and accept it and in 3 years time they can sell it at auction and make a profit .
At the end of the day if you are not happy with the repair then don’t sign for it …then it’s down to them to sort out a replacement , they will be hoping you are desperate to get you new car so you are mobile again and may push you into signing saying the old car has to go back if you have one .
As others have said it’s more common than you think getting anew car bodywork repairs , as long as the colour match is good then except it but also check it shuts correctly and the electric window works as does the central locking .
Good luck .
Have they replaced or resealed the front windscreen in a bid to fix the leak ?
