Thinking about it ..if someone is anti technology and has a dislike for iPhones, iPads, home smart devices etc, then cars are going to be a nightmare as they are going the same way .
I don’t mind a mild bit of technology in the home, phones and ipads are fine and you can take you time to do whatever you need….now in contrast driving a car is about keeping your eyes on the road and the environment around you, having heaps of technology has to be bad news on road safety.
Most cars have a touch screen for media, some have it for heating and aircon, while other have almost all the cars functions that are not on the steering column on a touch screen .
My current pet hate in our Peugeot Rifter is small dark buttons that are low on the dashboard !
Maybe I’m just becoming a miserable old git ??
July 10, 2021 at 9:52 am in reply to: To mask or not to mask: what will you do after 19 July? #157944In our household we will continue to wear masks and both sanitise our hands and clean every parcel/food shopping delivery that comes through the door .
We might be advised by the government but common sense says our family need to keep shielding ….maybe indefinitely !
If you sign up to the BCA website you maybe able to track your old car down, the search tools are very poor but you might have some luck .
Not meant for the general public so you may have to be “inventive” with job occupation etc ?
I would say a mobile guy would be better qualified his job, than a junior working at the fast fit centre.
I’m ex motor trade and had a set of tyres fitted to a VW transporter at home a few years ago…..the guy new what he was doing ..I was watching him like a hawk !
Let them come to you ….then the only inconvince to you is opening the front door and giving him the keys ????

The dealer should know the location of the car as it was listed as “in stock”, speak to the head of sales and ask/demand to know its location today. Reading these forums… it disappoints me to see how Motability customers are being treated !
Seems to me …not wanting to make a fuss or be any trouble get Motability customers walked all over !What happens with all used Motability vehicles on their return, is they go off the BCA auctions to be sold. Motability like a fresh mot on their cars as it’s more attractive for the bidders.
Congratulations stunning looking vehicle..same colour as our Peugeot Rifter ?
Sabine Schmitz tribute
I watched the Sabine Schmitz tribute afterwards…she really was one in a million and enjoyed life so much?…RIP Sabine .
This latest series has been the best for the new due, entertaining , funny yet not over childish.
Good content, great cars (G Wagon what a motor !) and wonderful locations…. what’s not to like ?
When BJ was our London mayor I thought he was a bumbling pr*t but since becoming PM when he was rather dropped in it at the deep end dealing with Brexit then the covid outbreak, he’s done as great job.
Both Brexit and covid have no rule book to work from so him and his team have done the best job they can. From past experience KwikFit are kept on a tight lead with Motability and can’t replace tyres too early , they get spot checks at depots by Motability to check tyres not replaced with more tread than the agreed 2mm.
We has a VW transporter a few years back with around 2.6mm tread left ,KwikFit twice said come back when on 2mm, manager took me to one side and said book tyres on the mobile site when they come to you home..tyre depth don’t get checked on mobile service !
I’ve always liked tyres fitted at home both on our Motability van and my personal vehicle all done at home ..it’s just more convenient as a carer ????

My wife’s 10 year updated driving licence dropped on the door mat a few days ago, it took 10 days from filling out the form and sending it off.
Two options..form from post office or on line , if you have a current passport you can apply on line and they can cross reference your details and use the passport photo.
Not seen it in double figures in my area for some weeks now ..13deg..time to dig out the shorts ?
Only one near me is a Nissan dealer…I guess that would be rather busy !
There was a clip on tv the other day on the 70’s milkfloat , so I looked them up on eBay …some fetching over 20k now !!
For me as a kid in the 70’s I helped do a milk round in my area, vehicle was a 3 wheel electric float ..Unigate was the company …50p a day (summer holidays) and all the milk and biscuits I could eat ??
Well done Joss congratulations on the moderator position.
?Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you all …..let’s hope 2021 is a little more positive than the year we leave behind ?????
December 16, 2020 at 11:02 am in reply to: who’s attending doctor and hospital appointments? #132308I had an appointment put back over a year and got a call out the blue last week, they offered me a Sunday appointment as they are catching up with the backlog .
Arrived at hospital and was given a mask on the way in, also had sanitiser squirted on my hands by someone at the door, walked into the waiting area and the place was empty …just me there !
If only it could be like that all the time ??
