hi there, ordered my Espirit Alpine Austral 11/03/24 collected it 22/03/24 from stock had the colour I wanted.met. black, and I must say it has been a fantastic choice electric/heated/mass. seats, heated s/wheel electric tailgate with open by key, switch on dash.or tailgate sliding rear seats, realy plush interior, boot space is more than enough and don’t be put off by the small engine it has loads of pull. looked at the iconic trim as I would have liked the sunroof but not for a large extra advance payment don’t need high end hi-fi or 4 wheel steering anyway. Over all have a test drive and make your own mind up

Hi all who really cares, yes it’s a bit of a laugh but we are taking about large pieces of metal, very expensive large pieces of metal in fact, so if you happen to choose a vehicle which has more going for it than a so called ‘premium’  brand (by the way who says that this vehicle or that vehicle is ‘premium’ anyway, probably the manufacturers and high paid car reviewers that think 300 BHP is normal and any car with less is just for the ‘ unwashed’ (just take a look at AUTO MONDAL the only car programme on TV at this time, Top Gear is not a real car review show more of a fun feast for the presenters, don’t get me wrong I love it too but will not help me choose my next Motability vehicle, they are all geared up, Sorry no pun intended, to showcase high end high performance vehicles, nothing wrong with that but not a great help to you when you are looking for a family SUV or hatchback)  who are invited by these companies on corporate all paid for jollies, normanly in some hot and scenic overseas holiday resort. who by the way nearly always feature the range topping all singing all dancing edition of the line up not the run of the mill one we would be looking for, most of these car reviewers always say ‘ this is the top of the range model, lower trim levels don’t get this or that’) I would read these, then read or watch real owners reviews to get real world review, this is where you get the true picture.  Am I wrong or just stating the facts anyway a good subject to discussion.

hi Mike I maybe wrong but I think ismart is what is called MGpilot, all the driving aids blind spot warning, front camera sensors speed and traffic sign recognition ect. ect. As for the front sensors Motability will most likely agree to this if fitted by the supplying dealer but this will be at your cost about £250-£350 and you will not get anything back when returning your vehicle, and you can’t really remove them, just had a thought though, I did not have rear sensors fitted to the GLA only the camera so I fitted a number plate holder which also had included and fitted to it sensors for reversing I wonder if they would work as front sensors if fitted to the front number plate anyone on here tried that? a cheap fix if it works and easily removed, would need a way to turn them on but cannot be that difficult for someone with auto electric knowledge. but really how often would you need them anyway

                      Hi all,

yep photos over the weekend to come, pearl white red/black leather, I was going to have black and red/black but having see a black one in the flesh I decided to go for white and my GLA is black and has been cleaned three time a week, every week, to keep it tidy or it can look like a shed, I agree it is very low, either I’ve got taller, or as I have the drivers seat fully raised I find it hard to get in and out without banging my head or catching my legs under the steering wheel, not really a compact SUV but more of a high riding hatchback.

when it’s clean it does look the part but that is only skin deep too many compromises to call this ‘premium’ really only wanted the badge!! should have listened to my wife who disliked it from the start and said I should have extended my lease on my Qashqai Tekna which was a hard act to follow, funny enough that was pearl white too, strange how MG did not include a bright silver like the Asian models and also the all digital dashboard must be something to do with the EU laws maybe

test drove a blue HS andthe dealership had a red one  but took a punt and ordered a white and when it arrived at the dealership the sales manager phoned me to say it had arrived 6 week early, he said that it looked stunning can’t wait till Thursday

oh yes tilts and slides to the middle of the roof then you have a fixed glass panel with an electric interior full sun blind, also if you hold the unlock button on the key fob all the windows and roof opens and again when you press and hold lock the windows close and so does the roof (just like a top end Mercedes) also a quick note check out the switch gear very German like.

                          Hi Mike,

I’m picking my MG HS EXCLUSIVE auto up on Thursday having had my Mercedes GLA for 16 months, need an automatic now, and truly I cannot wait, the GLA has zero or it seems like it, extras  nice wheels, led lights and gloss black trim that’s about it I even had to purchase a  sat nav SD card as it did not come with sat nav!.

the fact it was a Mercedes swayed me to have it but I will never do it again just have because of the badge,  that really is a mugs game the MG HS does everything I will ever want didn’t want to give it up after a very long test drive, been a Motability customer for over 25 years and this is the first vehicle with an opening skyroof.

but it is up to you nobody has the right to tell you yes or no but as always good luck

MG HS EV is due sometime 2021 should be a great seller it the prices are similar to the current list.

but would not mind if this made the Motability list, lol

Robert, go elsewhere, the dealership clearly has a poor Motability team.

loads of other dealers to choose from but in this case I would name and shame as well

Hi all, 29 days from order to collection,  not from dealership stock!  the quickest turn round I’ve ever had on all 19 Motability vehicles over the years.

totally agree who else offers a vehicle with this spec. and this price SAIC cannot be making much on each HS sold in the UK , but very good news for us, a vehicle that has squeezed under the radar.

if you can live without a so called ‘premium’ badge and you need an SUV ……………..well need I say more

yes Susan you are quite right there are more goodies with the Exclusive which either makes the Excite even better value or the Exclusive a bargain to have all this spec. for only £800 more, given that other, so called ‘premium’ brands, charge for most of the items the MG gets on the HS and calls these  ‘packages’  as Bandit said ‘a lot of car for the money’, and, not that it worries us on the Motability scheme, but backed up with a Kia like 7 year warranty  which when handed back to Motabilty will still have 4 years to run

Hi Susan, that’s the problem with the HS at the moment stock is scattered around and as you have probably seen Blue and Red ones are the most favored for dealerships to have as demo cars so just took a punt, I had a pearl white Qashqai Tekna in their pearl white and it doesn’t seem that dissimilar.

If you don’t need a opening sky roof, auto tailgate, red/black leather and super sport button, that’s all the deference is,  then at £199 AP it seems a bit of a bargain, as for the badge well , when younger an MGB GT was the sports car to have and as a classic it still holds it’s own, but even only a few years back when the first MG6 was released, wherever  I went, truly, everyone, without exception, who saw it in the flesh could not believe how MG could make such (At that time) a modern saloon at the price, in fact the most used phase said to me was “I didn’t know MG still made cars” so what if  the HS is made in China (what isn’t) still the HS is at another level.

Please let me know how you are getting on with choosing and ordering

Hi all, update on MG HS

ordered mid June collecting mid July, Exclusive Auto in pearl white, red/ black interior a great AP of only £999 as with last quarter Q2 no increase also no discounts or freebies but a huge amount of vehicle tech and safety.

Ending present term early due to needing Auto, but even so will not be sorry to see the back of my current Mercedes GLA only had it 14 months but what a load of s…, had to add sat nav myself and very uncomfortable I think this is definitely a case of ‘you are paying for the badge’ syndrome.

Test driven the HS and was a revelation, unrecognizable in every way to the MG6 I had few years back a real modern SUV, loads of toys and tricks to keep the most ‘petrol head’ happy but need the Lane assist turned off, it does pull you back into your lane wither you want to or not but turned of and the HS is very sure footed.

more of an update next week when I’ve had it a couple of days
