Hi
on the mini configuration tool, the mini 3 door John cooper works is a stand alone model, when you look at the options, it seems level 1, is part of John cooper works model, level 2 is £1300, level 3 is an eye watering £3,800.
hope this helps, level 2 seems to be worth it.

Gentle reminder not everyone who claims PIP is out of work.
With utmost respect a bit of generalisation as well. It’s bad enough that disabled people are labelled as “scroungers”

of course, you’re absolutely correct I had to put 20k miles for a private lease cos that’s what motability offer let me do the figures with 10k and see what the difference is then

Yes sorry slip of my sausage fingers lol
leaseloco or leasing.com
just wanted to illustrate that there are options out there, the convenience of motability can’t be underestimated of course. But with proposed VAT changes and possibly further tightening of the ridiculous rules re luxury cars etc you never know cheers

I think I’ve worked out what a “luxury” car is. It took me awhile to work it out but here it goes.
a “luxury” car is any car with more than 3 wheels and is not fibre glass bodied and painted in a lovely baby blue colour !!!!

Hi, last few days I noticed I couldn’t pair the car with home pro charger , I have a Hyundai Ioniq 5 , so it could be system wide, unless we’re both just unlucky x

When I planned a trip to new York in 2010 my quote for health insurance was around £5,000, as at the time I was under treatment for renal cancer. When I enquired about excluding any claims with regard to my cancer diagnosis and treatment, it went down to a £150.00, now I know this might not be suitable as it depends on health conditions, but is it worth trying,

No I don’t think it is being a dinosaur, although there are parts of modern youth culture that baffle me, the car market is now such rapid moving thing, it has become similar to mobile phones and other technology, seems cars are introduced and updated annually, I remember when I was a lad my neighbour buying a morris marina every year and nothing changed except the colour. Lol
If I was in your position I would write down the following :-
your physical needs ( height of entry, comfort, seating adaptability etc)
your practical needs ( wheelchair access, space for family, dogs etc)
What journeys do you make ( every day driving around town, commuting on motorways, etc)
and of course not forgetting budget ( how much do you want to spend on the AP)
o would literally write this down, it’s a starting point.
My little bit of further advice is to not look at the badge, a lot of cars that you may not think of as premium ( Skoda, Hyundai, Kia of old) have developed considerably and often match or surpass what the premium European brands offer.
if you have space for a charger at your residence ( private driveway) I would highly recommend an electric car of some sort, that’s my personal preference over had 3 electric cars and I find them quiet , comfortable, safe, and very pet, family friendly
hope these little ideas help

My understanding is that manufacturers have to certify the sustainability of the EV so the more sustainable build process and materials etc the higher the grant.
This means that the government will give the grant to the manufacturer to reduce the sticker price, if this is the case then motability ops can calculate the AP on the basis that the car will be worth more at tge end of the lease as a proportion of the sales price, hopefully allowing the AP to come down
this link is from the government website , it is quite technical but the salient point for me is the first paragraph which states
”
Guidance for car manufacturers on how to apply for their vehicles to be eligible for the Electric Car Grant.
The guidance explains:
how the scheme works
vehicle eligibility
the application process”so I take from this that the manufacturer provides evidence and receives the grant to pass on to the buyer, or provide a discount to the value of the grant

Hi,
Ive had my Ioniq ultimate since October 2023. It’s done 25,000 miles and hasn’t put a foot wrong. I love the car. There are a few niggles but only with “battery preconditioning” and my dislike for the door handles ( not automatic), other than that I am really happy. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending one.

Hi
A LC20 endorsement is applied when you are caught driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence. This usually is a result of driving the wrong category of vehicle.
Penalties For Driving Otherwise Than In Accordance With A Licence
If convicted, your LC20 endorsement remains on your driver’s licence for 4 years from the date of the offence. In addition to any other punishment, you will receive 3-6 points on your license.Cheers, all the very best

Sorry if this isn’t relevant
I have Ohme home charger pro. I have two EV. one is a Ioniq 5 and the other is a Renault Zoe.
I use the octopus intelligent tariff. I plug my car in on an evening. I have both cars set up in my Ohme app and they are linked to the app via API. ( basically sign in using your sign in details for the car app)octopus and the charger do the rest, they will choose when to charge the car so it is charged to your preset level. It’s very rare you need to charge 0-100% if you have home charger of course. So generally speaking the “cheap night” hours are sufficient.
if you’re in a rush you can override the automatic scheduling and us MAX CHARGE and this will charge your car regardless of the tariff cost at the time.

March 26, 2025 at 10:58 pm in reply to: Will Trump’s proposed 25% car tariffs reduce choice of Motability car? #300085I don’t think so. Tariffs will be paid by importers of foreign cars into the USA.
EU countries in the single market will put tariffs on goods coming from USA
for myself I don’t see how it will affect cars in the uk.

hi Wonky
i had the Hyundai Kona and loved it. So my current car is a 2023 Ionic 5 ultimate rwd long range. I absolutely love it. it has never given me any trouble whatsoever. I’m lucky enough to have a home charger which makes it easy to charge. Dead of Winter with careful driving 220-230 miles in summer 280-290 ( real world, not indicated) but really it doesn’t matter most of the time for me I tend to do local stuff. For example – Three of four times a year I drive down to Sussex from North Yorkshire (total of320miles) I tend to stop once at Peterborough for 20-30 minutes in that time on fast chargers I can get 150-180 miles of range added. Which gets me to Sussex with spare.
Hope this helps all the cars you’re looking at are, let’s face it amazing vehicles, if you think of the days of diesel Vauxhall Insignias and Ford Mondeos, or further back my Dads first motability car was an orange Vauxhall chevette, things have certainly moved on ( whether for the better is a matter of opinion)
it is a surprisingly big car though wide and long loads of room in the back and the boot easily holds a manual wheelchair and my dads folded electric wheelchair. Loads of storage
I have not driven or been in the other two cars. But bearing in mind the id4 and Enyaq sit on the same platform, it seems most reviewers prefer the Enyaq. ( bigger boot etc).

I must admit there are lots of YouTubers who seem to have an agenda hidden or otherwise about EVs
and of course the same is true of the reverse.
I can only go on my own experience. And would like to make several points
IN MY MOST HUMBLE OPINION
1. BEV are brilliant clean vehicles, tend to be more comfortable and easier to drive
2. IT is imperative or almost necessary to have a home charger to get the very best out of ownership.
3. The charging infrastructure is improving if only slowly and it is far too expensive. Mainly due to location of chargers at motorway services and expensive locations. The sooner lamppost and kerbside chargers become the norm. This will not change and it takes courage and investment by the government to do this.
4. BEV are not for everyone and Motability must accept this fact.5. The actual range of the vehicles will only get better as technology improves.
6. a vehicle with over two hundred miles range is perfectly good for 99% of normal driving day to day.
anyway. My thoughts not a challenge just an opinion. Xxxx

I had a last generation Hyundai Kona electric and I absolutely loved it. I can’t remember one issue with it. It certainly never went to the dealer to get stuff sorted unless it was a rare service or an update. Can’t speak of the latest generation but I think that’s the same platform. I like it so much I went for Hyundai again (Ioniq 5)

I’ve got a Jeep Avenger, Summit, on order. £999-£750, plus a few extras that I wanted and I’ll have a car that looks great and different, yellow with black roof, heated seats, powered tailgate, reversing camera, advanced cruise control, flat floor, heat pump, etc. I’ve had an electric car before and loved it. So, apart from Jeep enthusiasts who will hate that it’s only two-wheeled drive and electric, so think it an abomination, is there anything that more knowledgeable people here than myself would like to say against it?

, love the colour, love the design, I love it, if it did 270 miles i’d be on it like a car bonnet. i need to make regular(ish) trips to london from yorkshire
by the way i love your post. very funny.
