In an age where rabid mobs can sway governments make ridiculous decisions based on little evidence, we see that so called “luxury cars” have been taken off the motability list.

I find it interesting that despite the ridiculous nature of an arbitrary line in the sand of what is a luxury vehicle or not, that government can make a purely optic based decision

I have a Ioniq 5 ultimate, which is fast and has everything and is not a luxury vehicle, but a base model Audi A1 is?

notwithstanding, the actual financial factor, so with this cull of luxury vehicles you can’t have a base model Audi A1 with a £1700 advanced payment , but you can have a Citroen C5 air cross with a £7500 advanced payment or a Nissan Micra with a advanced payment of £6300

      the world has gone mad.

I think I’ll check leaseloco next July before ordering again from motability.

      Cheers, all the very best

      Vaun

Just seen an article in the Sun where they class DS as a luxury car manufacturer.

The term luxury is definitely open to interpretation.

          Tom…

          ********

A LUXURY car brand is in the last-chance saloon, with a flagship model its latest boss hopes will spark life back into it.

French manufacturer DS is beginning to deliver its new DS No8 – a pure‑electric flagship crossover with up to 465 miles of range – which has the likes of BMW and Audi firmly in its sights.

I don’t understand this either. What does it really matter what you drive?

            Another race to the bottom.

Luxury Car = any car or wav fitted with a radio or heater. Any car that does not have windup or sliding windows will be banned. Metallic colours will be banned. Only blue allowed to go with the badge. Also it has been concluded that 4 wheels are not needed 3 will be enough. This is based out on the premiss that milking stools with 3 legs are more stable than those with 4. So is done for the safety of the driver/passenger. Do not worry though this does not mean the revival of the Greeves Invacar; it is recognised that there is the need for a carer or driver and space for carrying aids, so obviously an extra seat and bigger boot will be allowed.

I agree Vaun, the madness is, these people would prefer someone to be driving a £8k Vauxhall over a £4k BMW!

People are very jealous it seems to me indeed and I’m going back 6 years now a Toyota saleesman told me that I’d have a much better car than him on the scheme and he added just for effect ” and I’m working”.

i told him to shove it up his backside and never went near

Those of us who have been here for a long time know that this type of knee herk reaction will eventually be slowly chipped at and cars will be reintroduced  the scheme will reintroduce cars over a period of time.

Motability was setup to provide a BASIC form of transpirt for disaboed peopke.

Over tine it became a huge lease schene with expensive cars against the principle of the scheme, as ut was beneficial to the lease company

No one needs a BMW, Audi or Mercedes, there are plenty of other cars available. You want one if those cars? Then lease it yourself. Oh, and don’t come back with “i need a high spec BMW for the heated seats etc” it’s bull

I think I’ve worked out what a “luxury” car is. It took me awhile to work it out but here it goes.

a “luxury” car is any car with more than 3 wheels and is not fibre glass bodied and painted in a lovely baby blue colour !!!!

                        Cheers, all the very best

With the intended shift to UK built cars, and given that non-Motability customers are a sales priority; given the potential extra demand for the same amount of new Mini, Nissan and Toyota cars, won’t that increase the already long delivery waiting times.?

You know whats coming next…..Advance Payment “caps” that will take the luxuriousness out of every manufacturer’s vehicle list.

Government will say its a “cost of living” choice we are  saving the poor disabled people money….and annoying the rich disabled people……Govt pats itself on back and says ..win win.
