That is so bad chris, and i wouldn’t visit kia again either.
Sometimes though hard descions need to be made for the right reasons and certain things can be small but make a huge difference, it’s the same for me. Due to my condition having acc on my current golf has made a huge difference to how my body is after driving and it has actually become rather enjoyable again.
Personally I tend to look at the specs of each car and trim very closely and compare them as dealers sometime’s don’t know as much as they make out they do..
sounds like abit of waffle, Truth is you trading a car in for one you leasing via mb and i reckon you’d get more if you sell it privately as it’s 9 years old and they won’t sell it on their lot..
so them sending it to auction sounds about right.. how much will wbac give you (not that i’d use them) offered £40 years ago for a car i sold for £450 myself.. but might give an idea of the lowest price..
I never heard of them selling it then aftercgiving you money sound like they don’t want to say they don’t want it.. unless you give it to them and they can deffo make there money back easy..
It’s quite a random one for me and it’s something I’ve experienced well before joining the scheme..
Some sales people just don’t want to sell you a car it seems… unless you clueless and they can sell you anything which for me ain’t the case, i know what i want and what i don’t.
Since i’ve been on the scheme I’ve only had a few issues and actually it’s only put me off them as brands, so they off my list forever.. I won’t ever be driving a ford.. unless it’s a mustang.. hahaha, then i might be tempted.
Why because they expected me to drive 40 miles to another dealer to test drive a certain model as they had none at all. I was like yeah right.. and walked out the door..
look i get it they don’t make so much in commission from mb, i get that and they usually have a specialist sales person, whom you need to see for a test drive and to do the paperwork etc.. Others just don’t do it. but it’s the attitude sometimes. Costs nothing to be nice.. Maybe they can tell, i don’t really want their cars, that i’m just trying to justify them as a contender as the specs meet my needs.. So went to the dealers to have a look and decide if it was and needed to drive it.. with mercedes and bmw, they not local to me which after all is an issue with services etc and life.. local is better but family had free tickets for a movie in chesterfield so while they was doing that i went and looked at cars.. waste of time.. Totally apart from toyota they had a 2.ol hybrid hatchback and the battery is in the boot so is tiny.. so it was out.. my local toyota didn’t even know that.. but i did.. but i needed to see it to decide..
This time i had no problems at all apart from covid / my new car is sitting at dealers?? / It was the only one i test drove this time and decided it was the one..
I looked at a few others but on looking decided they was just not right for me this time.. so was no need to drive them.. 3 years before that, i test drove 2 cars and 3 years before that 2 cars and before that only 2 cars again.. as they was what i got the shortlist down to, so is there loss imo.. I don’t wanna waste my time either.
It was the drive that finally decided it on all cars in 2017 a golf won over a clio, 2014 a c4 grand piccaso over the vauxhall zafira and a QQ over a c3 back in 2011, The c3 was the worst drive straight after the QQ the moment i drove out i wanted to drive back, but that would of been rude.
Guees this is why i’ve had no call from my dealer this week to arrange collection yet, nothing at all.. I was thinking it was the dealer messing me about.. As they just too busy..
Last time i spoke to the dealer (it was the actual manager) was a week last friday.. As i’m getting my private plate on this car that’s been on retention. He didn’t seem to know much either as to when..he sent me a vid, The cars been there since well before lockdown early feb so 4 months orderd on 15th of jan and it will need a full valet as well as it’s been outside all this time. I was due to exchange on the 15th of april so now it all becomes clear, why.
It’s again mbo’s lack of info to it’s customers, 5000 cars already at dealers from the 1s,t will be first priorty t WaS A lie then, now it seems. mein won’t be avalible till at earlist the 9th, I won’t get the car till after other’s can order new ones.. on the 8th… Taking the $$$$ imo. Why not say this from the start.. Then we’d know where we stand and yes i have issues, these problems add to my stress levels of not knowing a date..
so it can be planned for..
Infact this next car don’t feel like a new car anymore and it’s becoming a chore..
The problem I also have because of not knowing, when i will exchange is so i can plan and right now i cannot put more fuel than i need for anyday in the car or any make any large journey without calculating the amount needed, as i could get a call anyday saying tommorrow, who knows deffo not me??? and i cannot live like this day to day worring do i have enough fuel or that i’ll be giving away money from my pocket in fuel if i put to much in..
@Roz, that is the biggest link I’ve ever seen. Imagine trying to type that in manually. ??
I know right imo it is a pretty intensive search, all things considered. all any search is, is a defined set of parameters of a inputted database.. I posted the link to show that and the 9 ev manufacturer on the scheme..
It’s how it’s actually designed to work, basic I guess it’s a start for your search and to find prices and the basics details.
I want /need adaptive cruise control now on any car i’m getting and many cars don’t have it included as standard.
Most of the time i have to compare the cars i like the look of, on the dealers site or even build one to see specs or if it’s an extra addon or not.
With alot it’s in a driving pack at a grand and over on top of any AP, so it’s instantly off the list for me and it’s annoying as hell, but it’s got to be done as there so many trim options and levels, usually i’m left with a couple of cars in certain trim levels to choice from.. one’s that tick all my main boxes but usually something has to give even before i go to dealers to have a look and have a test drive.
I generally don’t use some of the search functions.
I select a manufacturer like audi or VW then a model ie a3/golf and deselect manual and electric. As right now they no good for me..
Then it gives me all trims and engine options as some manufacturers also package trims very differently.. only 9 manufacturer’s do ev’s on the scheme currently i see..
The part that don’t work someimes is the size/ style of the car or the engine size.
checkout the longlink and details of the actual search thread for evs, each option is just a switch 1/0 on or/off
Like with a toyota corrolla the 2.ol it dissappears when you set 1.8l min engine size.. But i found selecting one dealer at a time is the best way to use it.. So to search for just a 2.ol i got to look threw the 1.8s as well.
i do not know why it justy does it’s a code/ imput issue and a what if is probalaly not defined.. It how searches work they just search setout stuff from a database..
Ayhow
Then i go vw say to check the specs of the ones that in my price point and what you actually get for that..
no search is perfect, i been on another site looking at cars i searched then hit list displayed with power (high) from the menu and they all mixed up anyway..
VOLKSWAGEN T-ROC HATCHBACK 2.0 TSI R LINE 4MOTION 5DR DSG £2,649
VOLKSWAGEN T-ROC HATCHBACK 2.0 TSI SEL 4MOTION 5DR DSG £1,449
list is up on mb site
Arrived Thursday…
May 27, 2020 at 2:28 pm in reply to: Calls for car dealerships to reopen as closures costs Treasury £61 million a day #113911My dealer has been keeping me updated from home. I think my Allspace is sitting half built in a factory in Mexico currently. As I’m currently on the government ‘shielding’ list I am in no hurry to pick it up when it arrives. I think that is going to be a discussion between me, the dealer and motability when the time comes if the government advice is the same.
I guess it could depend on the date you was due to exchange and when the car actually arrives at the dealer.
I would imagine when that time comes, you’ll have only a few options. Motability’s plan as far as we have heard so far is..
The government has announced that they will allow car dealerships to reopen their showrooms on 1 June in England. As a result, Motability will start ‘Phase 1’ of their own plan to reopen the scheme.
New Motability cars that are already at dealerships waiting to be handed over to customers will be their first priority.
Around 5000 brand new vehicles are ready and waiting to be delivered to Motability customers, and now that dealerships have had the go ahead to reopen Motability specialists will be allowed to register and hand over these vehicles ‘subject to this being done in a COVID-19 safe environment’.
Motability have also made money available to dealerships to cover the cost of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and sanitisation when preparing and handing over vehicles to customers.
After that cars already ordered and not at dealers before lockdown and i’m guessing that will be phase 2.
Imo you could go ahead if another named driver can pickup the car, or you would have to pick it up yourself as ppe etc is being paid for by motability, so might be ok as a (last resort). If you do need to go out, you’ll need to use a vehicle, I would imagine.. Like for a hospital visit etc.
You might just have to cancel the order and extend your current lease, till you ready and feel it’s safe for you to do so.. or leave the scheme for now and hand the current car back. If you not driving the car and it is not being used for along time already, you’d save the money.
Not something i’d do as i’m fully dependant on the car to go out when needed.. but is an option for some..
I doubt the dealer will keep the car for an unspecified amount of time after it does arrive, if you unable to collect it.. but alot is unknown and as no new prices will be released until new orders are going to be accepted by MBO, thats a sticky situtation imo.
My new car is at the dealers was due to exchange in april.. The fact that there will be no prices for this Quarter worries me, if then ap’s drop because of covid (when new prices eventually come out) I will feel i’ve been robbed. but ap’s could go up as well.. no one knows.. but this time If i cancel I won’t be able to re-order until when??? applications open for orders which could be months or weeks no one actually knows right now..
I think increasing the insurance group to 20 and bhp to 150 would be a fair request for under 25’s As I’m under 25 but I’ve been driving 6 and a half years now and I’ve no claims or any penalty points but I’m still limited to what I can drive I think it’s unfair to tar all young drivers with the same brush
Problem is you can thank some of your peer’s for that.. Even over 25’s are restricted up to 200 bhp not just price.. Is it because we disabled. One size new fits all, but it is more about the actual inurance cost imo than anything. Like certain companies only employ drivers over 25. as it’s alot cheaper for them..
May 24, 2020 at 10:37 pm in reply to: Calls for car dealerships to reopen as closures costs Treasury £61 million a day #113796If the scheme opens up on June 1st will they start with Q2 and go to Q3 on July 1st or will the have a four month “quarter”?
They won’t have a list up as far as i understand, until they worked threw the backlog of applications for new cars already placed before lockdown and no one really knows when that likely is to be..
This info below is from 15th of may from mb site
While we expect to see dealers gradually opening in England from 1 June, the impact of weeks of COVID-19 disruption means the Scheme will not open immediately for new applications.
So we can work through backlogs in both vehicle sales and purchases, we will take a phased approach for applications. Priority will go to around 43,000 orders that had already been placed before lockdown. We will aim to resume these and arrange delivery as soon as possible, subject to this being done in a COVID-19 safe environment.
Once this is underway, we will start to invite applications from customers who have had their leases extended during the lockdown, in order of their original end of contract date. When possible, we will also re-open the Scheme to brand new customers. As soon as we are able to start accepting new applications we will publish prices on the website through our car search tool.
While we know this news may be disappointing, we ask for your patience as we restart our operation after weeks of dealer closures and business disruption. It will be vital to phase these steps carefully until we are really confident about sales of returning vehicles. We will only be able to lift all restrictions on future customer orders when we know that we can sell used cars in large numbers in a properly functioning marketplace.
It may be some months before the Scheme has caught up with applications for renewing customers, so in the meantime, customers should expect to see more extensions to existing leases over the next few months. We will also continue to support customers with lease extensions should new cars take longer to be delivered owing to worldwide disruption in manufacturing or supply of parts.
Our focus remains on keeping customers mobile, and safe. Together with our Scheme partners, we have continued to support customers throughout lockdown, and look forward to building back our wider operations. This will include working closely with our dealer partners to build confidence in a safe and secure dealership environment.
We are closely monitoring the situation, especially with regard to the changing vehicle supply situation, and will provide regular updates here on our website. Our Frequently Asked Questions are updated regularly, so please keep an eye on these; if you have a question, you may well find the answer here.
It’s nice but with the t-roc not much comes as standard alot of addon’s available at an extra cost.. tig r-line is deffo a better deal. I did have a look at one back in jan obvs not the black edition and was the same with them all..
Mice can do alot more damage, Sorry i could not help myself.
It’s a good point deffo worth checking it out before entering your pin..
Like anything even in normaal times you should as you never know, what has occured during the transport or storage of the car between places.. Once you enter the pin you saying the condition and everthing is as it should be.. Like something they said was included but was not..
I was due to exchange in april and my new car has been at the dealers since the beginning of feb, that i know off. Thats 4 months in june.
My new cars already at the dealership, I’m one of 5k I guess, has been there for 4 months now..
As there was only 3 cars in the config i wanted available and no factory slots before my exchange date.
It almost seems as if it’s not a new car now.. but it was the only real contender this time.. Infact I didn’t test drive any other cars..
At the end of the day lots of cars sit for a bit outside either at the factory or a port, or holding places so you never get a new car striaght off the production line..
My current car ain’t had a wash since lockdown started and car washes where closed..and it ain’t had a clean inside either.. This will be the first car i’ve return uncleaned.. Before my son would do it..
Plus i’ve had the £600gcb already and only used £5 of fuel in 8 weeks which is around another 2k less mileage on the car than otherwise would be well under 20k under the 60k allowed, So imo MBO gonna get more for the car than what they based the original ap on.. So is there any need really..
May 22, 2020 at 5:51 pm in reply to: Calls for car dealerships to reopen as closures costs Treasury £61 million a day #113661The government should allow car showrooms to reopen from Monday or risk production lines standing idle and thousands of workers remaining on furlough, Vauxhall’s boss has told Sky News.
Mr Norman, Vauxhall’s boss, said that despite the prime minister’s call for companies that can operate to return to business, they would not make cars they are unable to sell.
Nobody in the modern industry builds vehicles in the hope of finding a customer, you build a vehicle for a customer, and it’s absolutely vital that the United Kingdom, the four nations, develop customer orders so we can get Ellesmere Port back into production as soon as possible.
Currently showrooms are closed under the government shutdown of “non-essential” retail.
Vauxhall believes they can be reopened safely as many dealerships are large spaces, often with outdoor areas.
There are 4,900 new car showrooms in the UK and automotive retail employs 590,000 people, the bulk of them currently furloughed.
The entire car retail sector, including after-sale servicing, generates turnover of more than £200bn.
Mr Norman said the continued showroom closure is illogical given garden centres are open, and estate agents have been allowed to resume conducting viewings in people’s homes.
“By allowing, for example, estate agents to open, which are relatively confined spaces, we have a little bit of difficulty in understanding why retail car showrooms, which are much bigger places, cannot reopen, and if necessary, we can have them open simply upon appointment,” he said.
“What we are asking is for the UK government now to allow us to reopen at the very latest from Monday, and not have to wait until the month of June.
“That really is vital for the UK motor industry, not just for Vauxhall.”
I have to agree in that it’s totally illogical. Is there another motive, maybe a green one, one set by climate change activists or the UN in agenda 21, Used to stop the masses having cars as it causes congestion and the roads need to be for key workers not the general public for ever. as covid has shown us a new better way.
It’s coming as part of this new normal, like with air industry closed down and holidays are part of that..
you’ll need 35 days for a 7 day holiday so the amount of juice won’t be worth the squeeze. or most will be priced out of the market.. while they jet about everywhere.. same with cars..
Roads are being closed to all cars in lots of cities and what about the disabled then, who cannot walk or ride a bike, you not heard one thing in 2 months from them about us.. Who cannot exercise, so could not go out and sit on a bench. you’d get a fine. I can use a hosepipe during a ban as i’m disabled. so that should not apply to us either.
It was being enforced by the police and was always only goverment advice not actual law.
The 2 metre rule is not law it’s advice.. This is where we have gone, where advice has become enforcable by the so called law enforcers.. who making it up themselves.. erroding our freedoms and rights..
Cause chaos, Scare the masses, then offer the solutions to the problem that was manufactured to have this effect. it’s called cause and effect. always to get us to the next part of the overall agenda..They know the plan they just not releasing that info, it a trickle down from the top implementaion.
Like with the suger tax etc, all to save ppl from themselves, we need to Tax the natural stuff, so they can push the synthetic drug that could causes cancer and obesity, as our bodies don’t know what to do with it so store it as fat.. but they’ll never be any negative research done as they won’t pay for that or they’ll stop the funding of the uni etc in question.. No research budget for them.
Always in the name of health these days but in reality it’s for their pay masters.. Who doing well outta this.. while all others suffer and become dependant on them, like how pip / esa (the sick) claimants are treated by the so called medical profession and the state. Are these the ppl we trust. I know i don’t.
Most people are unaware of the truth. they kinda like the old missonarys going out preaching the word, to line the pockets of the church or vatican..
They got a higher calling, all to control us by scaring us into believeing.. or ruling over us..
In chile ppl hit the streets as they were starving and what does the goverment do,
water cannon and battons simply why not just give them food.. More will die from the cure than the cause worldwide.. It all is imo blown out of all proportion, Infact some 1300 ppl a day die in the uk alone everyday. we cannot save everyone forever.. trust me i know more than anyone, life is fragile but time is short for all of us and we never know when till it happens.
They know this and use it against us. At some point the whole sytem is coming down and a new one will take it’s place.. It’s alot easier if you can get us to do it willingly. Or make it happen by propaganda, if not by force.. Forced quarantine for healthy ppl is only about one thing do not kid yourself.. Stopping the masses from earning a living, creating more poverty so you more dependant, till it cost more than what’s coming in. then it’s bust and we the ppl gotta pickup the tab till the next time for decades or even a century, when not many here now living to rememeber how it transpired before. All we have valuable to offer is our time.Soon the robots will will replace more of us. As they cannot get infected or need time off or to sleep. This is just a step to that to condition us to the new normal and be grateful for them saving us all from something.. you cannot see but is there..
May 22, 2020 at 2:17 am in reply to: Volkswagen Transitions To Online Sales For All ID. Cars world-wide #113599obsolete.. All cars are being banned from roads in major cities, not just ice cars… right now..
in 10 or 15 I maybe dead.. could be days, weeks, years or even seconds..who knows..from maybe one of over 1 million ways to die..
I ain’t against ev’s as such, but pollution imo has got less than when i was a kid standing at a bus stop on marlebone road on my way to and from school, with leaded cars pumping out real toxic lead..
So i do get it but, The green sector is run by the energy companies making money keeping us on the hook, to charge us.. Over fossel fuels, they don’t own and have to buy from others.
The car driver is the cash cow and it will be no different when only ev’s are allowed. They’ll charge us per mile we drive on top.. If they allow us to drive. it will be like the dieselgate offer incentives as it’s better but in the end they’ll screw us allover..
What happened to hydrogen cars or those that could run on water, they’d h8 that as they cannot monetise them as they can ev’s. until that last drop of oil is gone, imo it will still be used, maybe just to help make the electric. To power all these devices and robots we gonna need. plus the electric scootors..
cars are not sustainable and the car owner must pay for the demise of the car.. thats the UN stance from agenda 21 which now is 2030. Plus energy beaming technology gonna change everything further but at what cost.. how many people have done 1million miles in a car, not many.. Maybe in my lifetime i have driven 12k a yea, so say for 50 years thats is only 600k.
May 22, 2020 at 1:03 am in reply to: Volkswagen Transitions To Online Sales For All ID. Cars world-wide #113592Car vending machines. coming soon to the west from the east. why not just cut out the middle man altogether, Each person in the chain takes a slice and the consumer swallows the lot..
Thing is though what incentive is there for dealers to offer test drives if then you can just go direct to vw or carwow etc and get it cheaper..will it kill the market, i doubt it…As then it’s a monopoly
Imo The problem is batterylife and take a toyota prius for instance to replace one new from toyota costs around $6000, to get a recon one 2k but they only swapout the faultly cells and then the others go.. so is it worth it, causing it to be less effective sooner.
overtime.. every phone i ever had it was the battery that gave out it, will be the same with all these cars.. alot will not be worth fixing the older they get and the value decreases..
Plus the internet of things and smart energy means they will use those batteries to store and put back into the grid when needed, adding to the number of discharge cycles of which any battery suffers from and has a limit to how many times it can charge and discharge…
from the 1st of June, at the earlest if or when showrooms open again, subject to this being done in a COVID-19 safe environment.
I was due to exchange on the 15th of april. So might be the 15th of june, hopefully sooner.
I do know the dealer had my car well before the lockdown and it’s in there secure compound..
Not had any contact from them since they called me on 24th of march. I’m sure as soon as they get a green light from mb they will call me though..
I do have a few issue though, seeing as it’s likely that no price list will be available before we expected to collect and pay Q1 ap’s, Price’s may tank. Plus it’s been sitting at the dealers for at least 3 months as well and maybe not even been moved at all.. Thing is if i was to cancel , then when would i be able to order again, that no one knows.. Might take months for then scheme to get back to normal..
so i dunno…I expect anytime from the 1st, I may call the dealer soon as they have my private plate, that was on retention and is going on my next car and it’s not been placed on it as yet going by dvla database..
It will mean carprices from outside the eu, will be more competitively priced against eu cars all without having to decrease their prices, The eu makers may have to take the 10% loss or they’ll sell less cars..
it’s called a level playing field.. exactly what the eu want..
If you don’t have a mirror, how can you see? IMO.. That needs fixing asap as you prob will have more accidents from not being able to see and it could be a person or a cyclist whom you cannot see, not just a post and all because you ain’t got a mirror.
It could even be considered being in an unroadworthy condition, as it would’nt pass an mot.. I cannot turn round to look in blindspots, so having mirrors is vital..
May 20, 2020 at 3:46 pm in reply to: Confirmed: 10% import tax on new cars from European Union #113498It’s called a fair playing field, it won’t just now be to protect the eu, over those outside the eu.. or even better protect those in the uk.. From the protectionism.
Is one reason honda is closing swindon down, is not because we are leaving the eu.
Honda are leaving the eu, Their market has grown outside the eu and the uk was in the eu when they decided that and it was based on their new buisness model and carbon footprint etc, Not us leaving the eu.
Vw cars are shipped from mexico to the eu, with no tariiffs i guess, as vw’s are a eu registered company.. But i bet hondas made outside the eu, like cars from the usa are liable for duty..
So they cost more making the price pointless attractive, than ones made by european car companies..
Terry’s of york is now just terry’s as it’s now made somehere in the eu, poland i believe. Cheaper labour, ask the dairy farmers, who sets the price of milk within the eu, the eu of course. They only competative when they have the upperhand against all others.. Making you buy from them and the eu.. who only make money from the %gdp of each nation in the eu.
Is why they the eu cannot bare us to leave and do well. Look there is gonna be changes but partly that’s because of the fact the eu has to protect it’s self at all costs or ppl will see what it is.. They decide whats taxed not the countries and the eu has a seat on the wto, 27 nations but one vote.. The same power as our uk vote now we’ve taken or seat..
Imo fully comp cover can cover you to drive another vehicle, but it must be stated on the policy and you have the owners consent to drive it.. like a friends car that they own outright, thats not on hp etc.
The hp company own it till you make the last payment.
This is generally only on a third party basis in the case of an emergency. a lot of the time usually only once you are over 25 and been driving for 2 years.. Same rules for most hiring a car.
You can get full cover included as an option but as standard, in most cases it’s not. In most cases it will not fully cover a smash to the car you driving..
You’ll need to read each policies T&Cs to see.. It’s why ppl get gap insurance as an option, if it’s bought on hp.
As for the Rsa cover we get, We only covered for any car mb provide us as a replacement. So we cannot drive any other car on this insurance, Same as any driver not listed on the policy cannot drive it, regardless of, if they have there own cover, unless they have been given express permission from the owners who are mbo.
So the 3rd parties insurance won’t pay out as the car was being driven without the consent of the actual owners mbo and therefore is invalid. They won’t payout as they not legally obliged to. RSA cannot lie and say he was listed, when he wasn’t.. even though i bet they wish they could.
You cannot give permission in law for others to use something, someone else owns, without their written permission even if you rent it either. like re-leasing a flat you rented it’s called sub letting, you can if the owner consents but not if they don’t.Is all Down to contract and the person who takes out the lease is responsible under the law.. civil law..For any loss. However that is down to motability. hoping you’ve contacted them at the first chance you got. if you ain’t i’d suggest getting your carer or someone to help and use that for the time lapse in not reporting it sooner..from the stress etc it’s brought or gonna bring..
Do not get your mum to contact them as you now have a conflict of interests..
Hi Mark, Welcome, I think the problem is that, for instance when / if I collect my next car, I will drop the current car at that dealer, and then it will go to auction as far as I know.. Sometimes cars are sold after it’s mot’d. A list is released to dealers to buy them if they wish, when the lease finishes.
how will mb sell cars if auctions are not open for instance.. No one really knows not even mb.. Hopefully showrooms open on june the 1st and the ball starts rolling. There alot of people in limbo including myself and at least you can maybe get a few payments from dwp, which will help towards any advance payment.
The problem is the whole system has been at a virtual stop.. There is not currently a list of cars or prices on the scheme either.. The scheme is not really anything to do with the goverment only that your allowance from dwp will be paid to Mobility directly and the free road tax allowance.
