From Vertu Volkswagen
Once the Government restrictions are lifted and we have re-opened, we will be in touch with you to arrange a date for the handover of your new car. Motability have explained to us that there will be a minimum 2-week delay between the end of the lockdown restrictions and the first new car handovers.
I reckon dealers will open with special measures in place on the 5th of may, but it will be at least 2 weeks before a mobility cars can be Picked up. So on the 19th of may, maybe I’ll get to exchange, which i was due to, on the 15th of april..
As for taking orders and a q2 list prob be on the 5th of may.. which be real cool..
April 23, 2020 at 11:32 pm in reply to: Car dealers told they can start to sell and deliver cars again #112188A message from Robert Forrester, CEO of Vertu Motors plc
Updated: 20th April, 2020 @17:15
In following HM Government and Public Health England advice, we recently made changes to the delivery of sales and servicing across our dealerships.
While our dedicated teams have always been available to help customers and to discuss their needs via live chat, email and telephone, in all but exceptional circumstances, we decided to postpone any delivery or collection of vehicles due to the lockdown.Following recent clarification, we are now offering assistance to key workers in need of a vehicle, who live within 20 miles of the supplying dealership. We will continue to keep these matters under review and to ensure that we prioritise both colleagues’ and customers’ health and wellbeing as our number one priority.
A large number of our service departments have remained open to assist key workers, essential organisations and vulnerable customers with servicing, repairs and tyre needs. We believe that this is an important service to our local communities and customers.
We continue to monitor and follow advice from Government. We are now beginning to plan for the safe and gradual return to offering a full service through both our sales and service departments. This will include use of PPE, social distancing policies and new working practices.

April 22, 2020 at 10:03 pm in reply to: Car dealers told they can start to sell and deliver cars again #112123A VIRTUAL showroom and minimal contact, contactless delivery measures could mean picking the car up from the dealers as well.. As they just not geared up to deliver everycar and would add costs to the operational and otr. price.
They been doing online chats on youtube, with those in the trade and they seem to think. online will play a big part moving forward.. soon there maybe car vending machines hahaha, deffo a video etc of a car .. but really you need a test drive especially in our case and maybe a law change as the long distance selling rules maybe a problem, as with no test drive maybe some may be unhappy.. when like with vw ceratin things it’s not clear they not included but on the car like mirrorlink etc gotta pay more to get it unlocked..
All i need to do is collect mein and tell them the pin one weeks gone by now since i was suppossed to exchange.. but if we all on lockdown is no point having a brand new car and cannot drive it..
Prob will be by appointment only.. once i get my new car, i’m going to drive to scotland then drive straight back he he he just because i can..
April 22, 2020 at 12:41 am in reply to: Coronavirus: Collapse in oil prices not reflected at fuel pumps #112064Thing is if we not using fuel, Then everywhere gets full up. Including the depots / refineries and the filling stations. They cannot buying more oil etc at the lower prices, until they sell what they got.. which they paid a higher price for.. just no where to store it… Crazy times but this has been going on long before the virus as ships sit outside ports for weeks that full up with no where to unload..
Thats Positive news but will it last. Germany is seeing a rise in new cases, since lifting lockdown.
I was due to exchange last weds and the cheque for the gcb arrived on monday before the new insurance docs. not had them threw yet. so thats good better than 2 months they said it could take..
Rox I think that’s wishful thinking on his part. Not sure there will be loads of people just waiting to buy a car, the predictions are over 2,000,000 extra unemployed as a result of the lockdown.
right now, who knows, but i find they have info we don’t.
Is it just down to the lockdown, or the global ecomony as a whole. They also stopped production back then, the economy ain’t really got better since the last crash in 2008… this is the big question.. The debt has only got bigger and all they do is increase the debt ceiling. print more paper and add digits to a screen.. to enslave us to debt, taken out in our names..
Now they made it even bigger, i feel a global system reset coming, an epic one. alot believe we well overdue as every country goes bust.. perfect for the imf etc who will pickup assets at a cent on the dollar. usually they need some sort of event, to make the general public fall into line.. hope i’m wrong but what i’ve been seeing just don’t make sence..
They’ve got ppl so scared, maybe too scared to go to work and get back to normal, or risk using public transport again forever..
Tax For the enviroment, fuel duty and then vat on the whole lot. it is the biggest chunk of the price. A real cash cow.
The more it goes up the more they take as well.
I was due to exchange cars on the 15th and whenever the dealers open again, guessing as soon as lockdown is scaled back.. they’ll be calling me.
rox, thanks for sharing your recent history with us. The loss of your son was clearly devastating to you at a time when life should have just been opening up for him. I lost my youngest son when he was just an infant, but I still carry him in my heart to this day. I don’t know whether it helps, but if I see something beautiful or moving like a sunset or a field that is a blaze of yellow, I talk to my son Ryan quietly in my head and say “look at that Ryan, isn’t it stunning”! He would have been 22 now, so he and I have seen some sights. It may sound slightly mad rox, but it works for me. Best wishes POPS.
It’s not been easy, especally for his two younger sister, they had only known life with Christian in it. (he liked chris) But life must go on, but it will affect us forever, nothing can change it and other’s just won’t truely understand how painful it is, every memory is a happy / sad one..
We don’t really even know what caused it, that’s the thing that’s so hard to handle and now this lockdown, dramademic going on and on every ad break on the telly the doom and gloom is broadcast, even on the few channels i do watch.. The youngest is now 8 and was 6, when he passed and now another 3 weeks of lockdown. What a life we living right now. We was due to go eurodisney for the easter weekend as well, a treat from granny for xmas.
Truth is if it’s your time it’s your time, we don’t control It. Time is so precious and we can never get it back.. Like now for what.. To not over run the nhs, so lifes gotta be put on hold… They ain’t fooling me or my kids… Is More to it I think, than they letting on.. Has this ever happened before.. The panic.. I’d trade with my son without a thought, if i had the chance, but that’s not how life works. Normally you get i’ll or it was an accident etc not your here in the afternoon and by dinner time you gone. so crazy
Wish I could still climb down into something sporty but I’m relegated to driving big old buses these days, nice enough in reality but no fun for the 8 year old in me.
Yeah, sometimes something has to give, to get what works for you.. My trade off was a lower car last time. So currently i’m driving a golf and before that was a c4 grand picasso and before that a qashqai. The problem with both was the small doors for my long legs getting in any car is not easy for me..
The worst thing about the golf is the seat. it’s a match edition and after 20 mins my back pain just gets worse.
Sat in the honda and was like this is so much more comfortable. my first ever car was a honda, prob 30 years ago now.. Test drive was real good and was rather wet and i’m getting the sporty one for my son..
sadly he passed away in 2017 before he could drive and loved / lived for cars.. back in 2017 we talked about the honda when it came out but was after i’d got the golf.. he said dad check this honda out. not been fun looking at cars this time, I’ve been in tears
Could be in 4 weeks Rox don’t listen to the doom and gloom on here
I hope so…
What ever it is we the ppl get played, and get left picking up the tab for some experiment or social engeering.
They the powers at be / the system.. cause the chaos then offer the solutions to the problems.. They back all sides as they just create or print the money so they winout and stay at the rudder.. It’s never really to make things better, just to enslave us more.. nothing is free but the air we breathe.. nothing will happen that cannot be monitized by them to exploit us.. I see a future where cars are not affordable for the masses, to force us all onto public transport, sharing etc, but now with this virus private cars are the safest form of travel. truth is all we can live in, is the now then it’s gone and you can never go back and change it..
Looks fab Rox
Thanks, Is currently sitting in the dealers compound, i just hope one day soon i’ll get to pick it up. Maybe by the end of may…
You don’t get these, and the real notes they make.

You cannot do a splash and dash at the filling station. very important to me that..
I was tempted to get a so called self charging hybrid but is it worth it right now..as normally my driving is on varied roads. A trip to visit my mum in london is 140 miles one way, 120 are prob motorway miles.
Right now i could not do an ev or a phev as i’d be stuck somewhere i don’t want to be, to charge it up and thats a big problem for me. Due to a brain injury and it being on go, all the time. not everyone’s life is suited to elec cars.. although right now it would be ok.. also i got no driveway and no where near me to charge one.
Defeats the purpose of having a car for my mobility, it just doen’t work for everyone.
More people are gonna want to own a car rather than use public transport than before.
I was due to exchange cars Tommorow, The dealer had my car well before lockdown. hopefully when they open again it’s still there, but who knows when that will be or in what format.. no one does..

Ford of Britain boss Andy Barratt expects once the lockdown is over and dealers can open again sales will pickup quick as more people will want private transportation rather than using public transport to protect themselves and he also said he had told dealers not to register any more cars in march, as sales had fallen off a cliff in other countries already on lockdown to protect there liquidity.. he seemed to think maybe another 4 weaks of delta
Yep Don’t we all… On the roads (highway) and private land are two different things and two sets of rules.
A blue badge is only valid for the highways, not a car park on private land or a private road, that’s not in the local (TMO) so companies enforcing that are doing so unlawfully.
Our local hospital now charges blue badge holders as well.
One used to take your badge to the office with the barrier ticket and you’d not pay, now you treated the same as the able bodied, if you disabled you also gotta queue to pay (only 2 machines) thats equality for you.
It really depends on what they claiming you caused them loss on.. Thats all they can legally claim for loss.. After all it’s a contractual issue on private land.. Signs must be in place and visable and these are nasty companies, even the appeal is not legit in my exp… They’ll always side with the parking company as they pay the £10 to the independant appeal..and pay who even when it’s about the legality of the claim.. they dismiss your appeal.. then gladstone brooks will contact you ( or some other solictors) when you look the same ppl are on the boards and registered at companies house.. it’s legalised theft.
As for the congestion charge you’d have to check, but in london a hire car won’t be registered with disabled tax, so i think you got to inform them.. beforehand.. like everything it’s prob out sourced to some company that only make money from fines / enforcement.. unless you got a lawful reason best just2 pay , or they prob will then try go to get ccj against you via fast track.. never accept that ask for it to go to your local county court, to a real judge. who knows civil law.
April 8, 2020 at 11:18 pm in reply to: Good condition bonus to those that have been extended #111408Faults and damage
If your car is damaged, please contact RSA Motability (RSAM) on 0300 037 3737 for advice on whether you need to get it repaired. If the damage if minor and caused by normal wear and tear, you may not need to claim for a repair, saving you time and money. Tyre, window and windscreen repair is included in your worry-free lease package.
What is normal wear and tear?
We would expect that three years of motoring would result in some light scuffing, scratching or stone chipping to your car, particularly on the bodywork, wheels, interior trim and luggage areas.Damage caused by wheelchairs, callipers, crutches or walking sticks would also be classed as fair wear and tear and we would not expect it to be repaired. More serious damage, however, would not meet our standards. This includes:
Deep dents and scratches on bodywork that go through to the metal
Severe cracks on bumpers and mirror housings
Irreparable damage such as burns or tears to the interior
Heavy gouges to alloy wheels or plastic trim.
If a car is handed back with damage, we may look to you to cover the costs of repair. If you are in any doubt about the level of repair required, please contact RSAM on 0300 037 3737 and they will confirm what action to take.Minor damage
If you choose to have minor damage repaired, you can make a claim through RSAM. You will need to pay an excess amount. The excess varies depending on the age of the driver. Details are given in your agreement and in your insurance policy document. Please do not attempt to repair the damage yourself. Even using pens or aerosols for ‘touching up’ can damage the paintwork and is probably unnecessary.Who know’s under common law, which is what any civil claim is brought under, by the parties making the claim, unless you one of them you not part of the claim. IF they win the claim a president is set, which opens the doors for more claims… like mis selling insurance, loans etc… I’m sure if they win the ads will start right away on telly, own a vw maybe you can claim.. call us on 0800 no win no fee, Thing is all this ends up costing us the consumer more.. in the long run and lines the pockets of the law firms making claims for losses. Vw ain’t helping themselves though. would i get another now…. Umm yeah i would.. I did
I not saying it’s right or wrong just that the world we live in where there’s blame theirs’s a claim culture, that imo morally as bad as vw cheating emmisions. if you driving you causing harm to others from particles from tyres even in a electric car.. that worse than co2 or no2. The tyre companies don’t tell you but your tyres wear and that goes somewhere..
Little question going around my head. If you have already placed an order your next Motability car (I have already received the Motability paperwork) however, if the dealership stay closed possibly for 6 or so months and the manufacture bring out a upgraded or replacement model (for instance Mitsubishi are bring out the new Outlander in a few months), (a) would your order still be valid, (b) would you receive the , (c) would you pay the same AP as per order?
Did you not get a text from motability, I did, as i’m due to to exchange soon on 15th your order will still be valid at q1 prices, so if was upgraded or a replacement model arrives. you’ll have to cancel and re-order at the new price and dealers are open… whenever that is.. No one really knows.. I think maybe showroms will be closed for 3 months at least.. The industry seems to think so..
Yearly service ? Mines had one service in 2 years I have a Golf 1.5 tsi dsg
Same only meins the 1.6 tdi dsg, they did do a check at 10k and oil light came on (cannot rem exactly when that was) and was some mixup at 20k and got asked to book it for a service. but turned out longlife oil had been put in at 10k so no need for next one till it got to 30k.
Almost at 40k now, i prefered the yearly one, but had no real issues that service related.
I been seeing it prob will be 3 months for showrooms to open, service / repairs is different though at some point things break and need fixing etc. so i do see them opening before, most can go back to actual work but still practise social distancing. we was due to do euro disney for easter now booked for last week in august.
April 2, 2020 at 12:45 pm in reply to: How long will car dealers be closed due to coronavirus? #110900Rox, unless something has changed you wouldn’t lose your private plate, you’d just need to renew the retention certificate (of entitlement) after 10 years, which was free last time I looked. ?
was under the impression if you don’t assign it within the 10 years you now lose it…
it’s been on retention since just after i joined the scheme 9 years ago, Back then you had to pay for each year and renew it, Then they changed it…. it’s not going to run out yet. The problem is the dealer said when he called me, that the cars in their compound has been for a while and looks good with the private plate on, already for 15th but now they closed and what if, they closed for months. Maybe i won’t put the pin in then.. Maybe I’ll leave the scheme. all depends what happens. I may need to use the AP.
The dealer rang me ages ago asking if i wanted to choose a 20 plate as they’d come in, but i declined as I’m having the private plate on.. until this all kicked off. I cannot lose this plate, means more to me than ever since my eldest passed away in 2017.. It’s my only real worry.
April 2, 2020 at 12:44 pm in reply to: How long will car dealers be closed due to coronavirus? #110899I can’t see the shutdown of car dealerships lasting that long. They are generally sparsely populated areas with relatively few visitors per day (as compared to a supermarket for example). Control and sanitisation measures should be easy to implement and maintain. The pressure on the government here and across Europe to get sections of the economy moving again will be unbearable as soon as this first wave subsides and the testing issues are resolved.
You would think so but in reality no, Firstly is it essential showrooms stay open, service and parts i say yes, but showrooms no… Also the tiny droplets can live in the air for upto 3 hours. so a carrier sits in all the cars in the dealers, to check them out, then anyone who sits in those cars could get infected for next 3 hrs from just breathing the air.. prob less chance in a supermarket of catching it like that, A car is a confined, sealed enviroment and thats not even taking a car for a test drive, i done them on my own before, thats not the problem but now the car would need a deep clean before the next person get in. So would every car once a persons been in it..
On hard surfaces it can last upto 72hrs. so even a hire car could be a problem if leased next day or 3 days later of someone who infected being in it…

With leases being extended, If you were close to the 60k mileage limit and within the next 6mths of the lease you went over 60k would you be liable for the excess mileage? many thanks.
surely you’d get another 10k for the 6 months extention but worth contacting mb about.. I’m at just under 40k and my 3 years is up on 15th of april. So they click 20k
