So as a few of a you know, we’ve had issues with our 3008 that hasn’t been fixed so now cancelled, anyway when it was in the service department being “fixed” we had a hire car.

gonna make this short to the point, got two tickets, one in the hospital, one in a congestion zone.

the hospital one was because we parked in a disabled bay, you have to register your badge at reception which we did the first day but the second day reception was closed, so we appealed it (still haven’t heard back) but europcar decided to take the money anyway

second one driving in a congestion zone even tho I was told drive it like a motability car and asked several times if I’m allowed in those zones and motability and europcar both said it’s fine.

i just hate everything about parking tickets, such a greedy sector. I understand parking tickets in permit areas so you don’t park near someone’s house etc but all those hospital / shopping centre / street parking with small print are just terrible

why do you need to reg your disabled badge at reception

i would have thought if theres a disabled space and you have a badge use it ,

infact why bother with disabled badges and disabled spaces cause i am sick of seeing people parking in the space with no badge just because its closer

Yep Don’t we all… On the roads (highway) and private land are two different things and two sets of rules.

A blue badge is only valid for the highways, not a car park on private land or a private road, that’s not in the local (TMO) so companies enforcing that are doing so unlawfully.

Our local hospital now charges blue badge holders as well.

One used to take your badge to the office with the barrier ticket and you’d not pay, now you treated the same as the able bodied, if you disabled you also gotta queue to pay (only 2 machines) thats equality for you.

It really depends on what they claiming you caused them loss on.. Thats all they can legally claim for loss.. After all it’s a contractual issue on private land.. Signs must be in place and visable and these are nasty companies, even the appeal is not legit in my exp… They’ll always side with the parking company as they pay the £10 to the independant appeal..and pay who even when it’s about the legality of the claim.. they dismiss your appeal.. then gladstone brooks will contact you ( or some other solictors) when you look the same ppl are on the boards and registered at companies house.. it’s legalised theft.

As for the congestion charge you’d have to check, but in london a hire car won’t be registered with disabled tax, so i think you got to inform them.. beforehand.. like everything it’s prob out sourced to some company that only make money from fines / enforcement.. unless you got a lawful reason best just2 pay , or they prob will then try go to get ccj against you via fast track.. never accept that ask for it to go to your local county court, to a real judge. who knows civil law.

Things are a bit strange at my local Hossie: Disabled Parking in the car park at the front used to be free (show blue badge at the kiosk on the way out) but then they made it a two story car park and changed for Disabled Parking; meanwhile, around the back where the MRI machines most Disabled Parking bays are signed Staff Only and that non-employees will be fined for parking there, but when we rang the Hossie to say there was nowhere to park near the MRI they said “Oh, just park anywhere – we don’t enforce the fines ’round the back.”

              <p style=”text-align: left;”>Our hospital is worse.</p>
Park out the front of hospital for free no ticket needed.

Park in nearest car parks present badge & Park for free

Park in bigger car park not free, not subsidised pay same as everyone else.

Not a single sign up warning you that the 3rd car park is private & run by the PFI partner so hospital have no say over it.

I got a ticket whilst running my dying father to/from hospital parked on pavement in disabled zone as no spaces father couldn’t walk & I can’t walk far so needed to park there & was for oncology appt came out to a ticket, just threw it away & ignored it they never did diddly was Parkingeye or some such.

We have to register for 12 months but still have to pay to park but at a reduced rate.
you don’t get a reminder when the 12 months is up, nice little scam.

where as The RNOH Stanmore has no charge for anyone to park plus a free buggy service from car parks to all buildings.

It is weird to have a ‘favourite’ hospital?  Or just weird to have to go to so many that I can actually have a ‘favourite’ hospital?!

                  😀

However, in England from this month onwards:

Free hospital parking for thousands of patients, staff and carers

Disabled people, frequent outpatient attenders, parents of sick children staying overnight and staff working night shifts will not have to pay for NHS car parking from April 2020.

Thousands of NHS patients and visitors in England will be able to access free hospital car parking under a new approach set out by Health Secretary Matt Hancock today.

The government will also consider car parking capacity across the country, and how improved technology will reduce burdens for hospitals and take away stress for visitors.

Currently, NHS trusts are responsible for making their own car parking arrangements, including setting any charges. Any profits from car parking charges must be reinvested into frontline care.

From April, all 206 hospital trusts in England will be expected to provide free car parking to groups that may be frequent hospital visitors, or those disproportionately impacted by daily or hourly charges for parking, including:

                      blue badge holders
frequent outpatients who have to attend regular appointments to manage long-term conditions
Free parking will also be offered at specific times of day to certain groups, including:

parents of sick children staying in hospital overnight
                      staff working night shifts
The government will work with the NHS and others to ensure that it:

spreads existing good practice from NHS organisations applying current exemptions effectively to others
uses the NHS standard contract if needed to ensure compliance
assesses where capital investment could help to improve the experience of patients and visitors…………….
