I am looking for some advise following an accident and making a claim. the accident caused the wing mirror to be knocked off followed by some damage to the front bumper skirt when parking too near a post

I was hoping not to get these fixed until near the hand back time just incase we had another accident.

How does the RSA view the 1st claim for the damage to the wing mirror and bumper, 2 claims? and how does the RSA view us for future insurance should we have another claim prior to returning the car.

Is it worth paying for this my self?

Link below should help you. Did you report the accident/Accidents? Personally I would give RSAInsco a rinf and explain things, as you should do. You will find them helpful. Remember we all have accidents at some point. Just be honest with them. No reason why you should be refused an other car.

Ian if the damage happened at the same time it’s one claim.
Should be £100 total excess to pay.
cheaper then going to a garage and buying parts.

If you’re close to handing the car back they may not want to do anything but you will lose your GC bonus.

A while ago I parked my car on the street for a short time instead of my drive. It was winter and a gritter lorry took a shortcut down my street, the lorry severely damaged the passenger side of my car. I contacted motability straight away, as I was picking my new car up in a few weeks time Motability were not interested in repairing the damage, I lost my GCB but apart from that the handover went as smoothly as normal.

I reversed into post, huge dent in tailgate. RSA said leave it if you want to. I did a year off replacement and got GCB. Have heard of a lot of people getting GCB for cars returned with accident damage.

just been in contact with RSA, this would be classed as 2 accident claims, however he did say that minor damage is allowed. went over the damage to front skirt bumper with him, said that this could be recorded as fair wear and tear, so only one claim with £100 excess.

Someone backed into the reae tail light of our car cause a scratch to bidy and tail light out .when phoning RSA it was to claims as the scratch was not that bad so was noted but not needed to be fixed as it would fall under fair wear and tear. we only did one claim for rear light and payed £100 .car got fixed on door step within a week.

If you don’t have a mirror, how can you see?  IMO.. That needs fixing asap as you prob will have more accidents from not being able to see and it could be a person or a cyclist whom you cannot see, not just a post and all because you ain’t got a mirror.

It could even be considered being in an unroadworthy condition, as it would’nt pass an mot.. I cannot turn round to look in blindspots, so having mirrors is vital..
