      Oh fun… just had an email from Volkswagen titled

      “what are you waiting for”

      to which I childishly responded :

      ‘Well for one thing I’m waiting for your motability specialist who texted me on Monday morning saying they’d arrange a test drive as soon as possible to actually fulfil this promise and actually phone me. ’

        Ooh thank you, I know not meant for me but that will be massively helpful.

          @mfillingham 100% what is on my mind. My Mitsubishi outlander has been a fantastic car but the dealership and servicing has been dreadful. They do Jeep and Suzuki now Mitsubishi has exited the UK and for that reason alone I’ve not even considered those cars.

            @phaedra yes you’re right a different dealer might be needed. My condition was caused by a broken neck in a car crash ( fixed at the time but caused degenerative changes) so large safe cars are important to me and the Skoda definitely ticks that box as does the Audi the Ioniq feels a little lower and not quite as sturdy but I’m sure that’s just my understandable heightened concern. As @ellyr5 said the xc40 should be on my list too.  It’s tricky for you tall people as I’m sure you know all too well a car can look large and be absolutely shocking for headroom ( I’m looking at YOU Q1 ) conversely my husband fitted in my daughter’s Peugeot 107. ?‍♀️

              @ellyr5 I have and I don’t know why I’ve discounted it!!! just plethora of choice I think. Thanks for the reminder I’ll add in back on and have a look.

              @mishmash
              I honestly felt like dirt on his shoe on Skoda and although I will still test drive if things don’t change even if it’s the best car if the bunch I won’t be ordering it.

                I’ve deliberately left names and towns out in case there’s a forum rule about naming and shaming.

                  Decide what’s important to you day in day , take the emotion out of it. Is it asthetics and it making your heart and mind sing ( colour) ( body shape) is it the drive ( performance) is it having an unusual stand out car ( Hyundai). A fantastic work horse (Kia) or lots of gadgets and fun ( Skoda) just check what day in day out means something to you.

                    Thank you @kezo and @oscarmax. I’ll look at those. I had been considering a Honda e ny1 or an id4 but number one priority has to be that any car doesn’t hurt me / cause more damage then second is it has to fit Mr KJ35 who is 6ft7 and does a lot of running about for me so I think I’m going to struggle with the current BEVs. The Mitsubishi has given me a freedom I’ve not had for a while, I’m not in a rush to replace it, I will for sure look at that Suzuki. It’s such an important decision and exhausting going around showrooms ( as we know) but such a fantastic benefit in amongst all this ‘stuff’ we cope with.

                      I’m on Octopus Go 9p per kwh between 00:30 and 04:30 , plug it in and it’s set for delayed charge to start at 00:31 from an outdoor 3 pin socket, takes less than the 4 hours to fully charge. I’m very impressed with it, but with our low mileage i should have went full EV.

                      If we did not tow a caravan we would have gone the EV route, our next vehicle will be a full EV.

                      do you mind me asking which BEV you would go for? You won’t remember me but three years ago you gave me excellent advice on the Mitsubishi outlander PHEV which has been an excellent car. I think we have/had similar driving needs except for the towing. My beautiful PHEV is now due for replacement and I would like a similar high seating position as number one priority and I’d like to go full EV.

                        I’m confused about your charger delay too. I’m ready to order 10th Feb and am 90% sure I’m going BEV. I have off street drive parking and I thought my install for a fast charger would be simple and be in before any new car arrives or they’d be no point having the car?

                          Thank you so much Colin, that’s taken a weight off my mind. Now to start working out what to replace my ( excellent) Mitsubishi outlander PHEV with 🙂

                            Hi my PIP is due for renewal March 2024 and the window to order my new car opens 10th February (lease ends May 2024). Despite DWP first contacting me about the renewal last July I have even had an assessment yet just text messages saying they’ve still got my forms etc.  I’m sure motability understandably won’t let me order a new car but what will happen when my lease expires if this situation continues? Will I be left without a car? Sorry if this has been asked before I did go through several pages trying to find similar questions but am unclear.
