@Rhodgie The RR has a much more sophisticated suspension set up than your average BEV (double-wishbone with air springs) It’s designed as a luxury (and very expensive) vehicle to provide a smooth ride. Range Rover weighs in at about 2.3 tonnes with biggest BEV than I can think of being the Kia EV9 weighing in at 2.6 tonnes on standard multilink suspension.
Having said that, I’d agree with other posters that wheel and tyre size also has a significant impact on ride comfort.

Current car Hyundai Kona Ultimate EVBEV’s are much heavier than equivalent ICE cars and generally have stiffer suspension to compensate.

Current car Hyundai Kona Ultimate EVHi @ostberry, my understanding is that you are not allowed to hard-wire aftermarket accessories to your Motability vehicle, even if they are fitted by the dealer. Only factory options are allowed.
However, what constitutes “hard-wiring” is a bit of a grey area, and I know many on here tap into a fuse or power supply to rear-view mirror for their dash cam 😉

Current car Hyundai Kona Ultimate EVCan’t help feeling that it already looks a little dated – perhaps because it’s been trailed for so long with the delayed launch.
New Renault Scenic and Peugeot e3008 look much better IMO (and lower AP’S)
Sean
Current car Hyundai Kona Ultimate EVHi Andy, welcome to the forum.
Please note that should you decide to order a new vehicle on the Motability scheme, you will be entitled to  750GBP new car payment from Motability which can be used towards the Advance Payment (AP) quoted on the price list.
Also, I’d strongly recommend looking at EV’s if you have a private driveway as Motability will pay for the standard installation of an EVSE (‘charger’) which is worth around 900GBP. EV’s on the scheme represent exceptional value if they suit your lifestyle and can charge at home on a cheap tariff.
Check out the Motability website for full details. I also find Motaclarity website useful for browsing cars.

Current car Hyundai Kona Ultimate EV@wildgoose2 Hi, I’m in a similar situation to yourself (two of us at home all day) although doing more mileage since getting an EV last September (probably will be about 9k miles per year at current rate) You may find you’re taking more day-trips out etc when it’s costing you peanuts compared to putting petrol/diesel into an ICE!
I couldn’t find an online tool that compared tariffs and took into account EV usage, or indeed your ability to load shift. I looked the main energy providers that I could switch to with EV tariffs individually (Octopus, Ovo, EDF, and EON) and got online quotes using my annual consumption figures from my current supplier to get the standing charge and price per kWh (for both electric and gas)
I’m currently paying a fraction under 20p/kWh for electricity (fixed for 3 years back in 2021 just before prices went crazy) My fix ends in September so I’m also looking to change tariff soon, and like you, want to save without having to load shift.
On my actual usage for last month, a 2 year fix with Ovo, worked out slightly cheaper for me, so for someone currently on the price cap, I guess it would be a more significant saving. A 2 year fix could prove costly however if prices continue to fall (and a 95GBP penalty per fuel to quit early)
I’m currently thinking about giving Octopus a try first as you can get a 50GBP referral bonus, and can switch between tariffs without penalty. They also have the “Agile” tariff which does offer some cheaper daytime slots so may work out better if you’re at home all day and can plan when you’re going to use your big appliances.
Hope that gives you something to think about.
Good Luck!

Current car Hyundai Kona Ultimate EVYes, as long as they’re over the age of 21.

Current car Hyundai Kona Ultimate EVLooking very dated now. Shame because they’re spacious and well built.
Sean
Current car Hyundai Kona Ultimate EVThe actual installer is the one who applies for the grant (in your case, the sub-contractor, Pro EV group Ltd) and they then should deduct it from the invoice provided for the customer (or contractor, in your case Ohme) Ultimately, Motability pay Ohme for the install and everyone’s happy.
Sean
Current car Hyundai Kona Ultimate EVStill making a huge profit from our benefits, and the executive pay is obscene!!
Sean
Current car Hyundai Kona Ultimate EVI’d add that you can also set your car, and in some instances the EVSE, to pre-condition your car so that it’s all warm and toasty and fully defrosted before you get into it. Best done whilst connected to your EVSE and using mains electricity rather than depleting the car’s battery and reducing potential range.
Sean
Current car Hyundai Kona Ultimate EVI’ve returned two cars without the parcel shelf/retractable load cover which were removed when hoist fitted, and it was not noted by the dealer when returning (still got full GCP) I still have the Ford Focus Estate load cover in the garage if that’s any good to anyone!
Sean
Current car Hyundai Kona Ultimate EVHi @Leanne, no it doesn’t. It has an ‘auto de-fog’ system which detects moisture on the inside  of the windscreen but not sure how it copes with ice!

Sean
Current car Hyundai Kona Ultimate EVHardly a scam, is it?
Sean
Current car Hyundai Kona Ultimate EVThe new Kona has memory drivers seat if you opt for the ‘Lux Pack’  with the Ultimate or N line S spec. It adds 700GBP to price of 1.6T Ultimate spec. only. Also includes  digital key and premium relaxation front seats.
Full specs. can be downloaded from Hyundai website.

Current car Hyundai Kona Ultimate EVAs @kezo says, I think Zapmap is probably best App for identifying charge points, but I do personally prefer journey planning on ABRP (A Better Route Planner)
WattsUp is another good one to consider – there are so many! Just choose the one that suits you best or check multiple Apps for peace of mind.

Current car Hyundai Kona Ultimate EVNovember 1, 2023 at 1:53 pm in reply to: Exploring Cars in stock rather than waiting 7-8 months #241232Just to add to what @kezo said, the car must be unregistered so that Motability is the first owner. I do believe there is a process where a dealer can de-register a car under certain circumstances but it does rule out ‘demonstrators’.
There is a pinned thread at the top of the forum homepage which lists dealer ‘special offers’ and sometimes contains cars that are ready-to-go from dealer stock (although you may have to be prepared to travel to a dealer some distance away to order the car, and then again to collect it -servicing etc. can be carried out at your local dealership though)
Sean
Current car Hyundai Kona Ultimate EVI hadn’t thought of it like that!
Personally, I don’t care if I never have to visit a petrol station again.
Sean
Current car Hyundai Kona Ultimate EVHi Steve, although it’s annoying that the car is not as ordered, I’m not sure that the DAP really adds much to your enjoyment of the car.
As @kezo points out, quite a few people received cars with missing features during the pandemic and chip-shortage situation. I did read of cars being received without heated or electrically operated seats, which I can understand might be a deal breaker for drivers with mobility issues, Raynauds etc.
The manufacturers have a ‘get-out’ clause in their sales contracts which state something along the lines of “specifications subject to change”.
Sounds to me like the dealer has made a reasonable offer to mitigate the loss, but if you can negotiate more, all the better.
I wish you well whatever you decide – my neighbour has a CX-5 Â (and a MX-5) and it’s a great looking car!
Sean
Current car Hyundai Kona Ultimate EVI’d take the top of the range mainstream brand over the so called premium marques in base spec. My previous three cars were the Seat Tarraco Excellence Lux, and 2 Ford C-Max Titanium X’s before that.
I’ve got used to the leather heated seats, sunroof etc. and my current Kona Ultimate has added ventilated front seats and heated steering wheel. I wouldn’t be so worried about some of the electronic driver aids but would miss the creature comforts.
I can live with the build quality and low grade interior materials, scratchy plastics etc. The panel gaps on my Kona are reminiscent of and old Austin Allegro!
I have friends and neighbours with Audi’s, BMW’s Mercs. and Jaguars so appreciate the difference in quality but I couldn’t personally afford the premium price and ownership costs.

Current car Hyundai Kona Ultimate EVOctober 17, 2023 at 9:19 am in reply to: The kona electric delivery time thread and general Kona EV discussion #238783Hi @Anthony,
many thanks for that insight. I was planning a similar European road trip down to Southern Spain next year so it’s reassuring to hear that your charging experience was so positive.
I had to charge away from home for the first time yesterday, and chose an Instavolt charger which was close to where we were staying over the weekend. Unfortunately, the charger would not accept my Octopus Electroverse card, and also my debit card was declined by my bank for some reason (not lack of funds, I hasten to add!) Third time lucky it did accept my credit card, but I well and truly had my trousers pulled down and backside spanked at 85p/kWh!! I understand that with only occasional charging away from home (where I’m currently paying 19p/kWh until next September) it doesn’t affect the average cost too much and in the past I’d have been putting 70-80 pounds of petrol in my old ICE car.
And yes, once my current fix ends, I’ll be looking at the option of a cheaper overnight tariff – there’s no incentive to change at the moment as I only cover relatively low mileage (approx. 500 miles per month) and as we are retired, most of our average 9kWh per day usage (pre-EV) is during the daytime. I’m not comfortable with using the big appliances such as washing machine and tumble drier whilst we’re in bed, although I do sometimes put the dishwasher on last thing before bed.
Anyways, nice to see the thread is still alive!
Pleasant motoring to all, EV or ICE.

Current car Hyundai Kona Ultimate EVGreat choice, although I wasn’t too keen on the all black interior on the demonstrator I sat in at the dealership.
