Just want to know if motabiltiy will let me have a car in stock rather than waiting 6-7 months for a factory ordered vehicle. The car of course will the be the exact same model and spec as available  on the motability website.  Has anyone done this before and if so do Motability allow this to happen or are they totally against it ?

Motability won’t mind, its if the dealer will allow you to have one from stock. Depending on the model some will.

Just to add to what @kezo said, the car must be unregistered so that Motability is the first owner. I do believe there is a process where a dealer can de-register a car under certain circumstances but it does rule out ‘demonstrators’.

There is a pinned thread at the top of the forum homepage which lists dealer ‘special offers’ and sometimes contains cars that are ready-to-go from dealer stock (although you may have to be prepared to travel to a dealer some distance away to order the car, and then again to collect it -servicing etc. can be carried out at your local dealership though)

The best bet is to phone around the dealers and ask if they have cars ready to go, but you have to go though their motability salesperson. They will tell you right away if they have any. But phone around your nearest dealer.

Audi have an excellent online stock availability site which we have used twice in recent times to find a car with immediate availability –  Once from Exeter Audi and Once from Hereford Audi. Both dealerships were excellent.

Not so long ago Motability Operations were setting up a pilot area of the website showing only cars immediately available.  May be worth giving them a call to see if you can join . If you don’t like the answer you get the first time call back later. It is sometimes the luck of the draw as to how much the call handler you connect to knows.

Pretty much an impossible task, even dealerships struggle to keep up to date and there is a need for Motability to have a link direct into the manufacturer system to enable this to work. It is definitely a great idea but the nature of the challenge means it will never happen. Ready to Go was a trial BUT with a very limited choice of cars. Best solution is a bit of leg work ourselves 🙂

Thanks for all the info and reply guys. I am guessing if I was to pick up a stock car that I would not be eligible for the £750 advanced payment as I never ordered it ?

I just spoke to my Skoda dealer and so far they’ve had 2 motability Enyaqs both Sportline plus, affected both of which were upgraded to 85s for no extra money.

Is this Skoda cancelling orders or dealers? Makes me wonder if dealers are playing silly beggars thinking there’s going to be a shortage and they can sell your order for more money? I’m naturally very cynical when it comes to sales types.

Thanks guys, thanks for the reply, only issue I have is I live in Ipswich there are a few cars in stock available to pick up in Manchester, would I have to travel all the way to Manchester to put in my application for the car or would it be a case of calling up them sorting it over the phone and just travelling to Manchester to pick up the vehicle ?

Hi @Joe Briggs, unfortunately, it does mean two trips to the dealer.

I was finally awarded enhanced mobility payment yesterday after asking for a reconsideration, I contacted a VW dealer this morning and was offered the chance of 2 different Taigo r-lines that were in the dealership and could be sold on Motability, so does pay to check around.
