      Hi everyone,

Pick up day was set for tomorrow 31/10 for a Cx-5 exclusive line with DAP (driver assistance pack), The car has been at the dealers since Thursday and today we got a call stating that the DAP is missing and would we still take it with a £100 pound refund and £250 sorry.

We have asked for the car we wanted so will wait for that to arrive. Has this happened to anyone else? Would you ask for something for the delay.

      cheers

I believe its happened to a few on her with Stellantis cars.

The car may have been in group stock and the dealer was trying to paim you off with it, however if the DAP pack is important to you stick your ground.

Fair do’s to the dealer offering you £250 as way to say sorry and if you can live without the DAP pack, you can try and negotiate a figure above starting at £500 🙂

Hi Steve, although it’s annoying that the car is not as ordered, I’m not sure that the DAP really adds much to your enjoyment of the car.

As @kezo points out, quite a few people received cars with missing features during the pandemic and chip-shortage situation. I did read of cars being received without heated or electrically operated seats, which I can understand might be a deal breaker for drivers with mobility issues, Raynauds etc.

The manufacturers have a ‘get-out’ clause in their sales contracts which state something along the lines of “specifications subject to change”.

Sounds to me like the dealer has made a reasonable offer to mitigate the loss, but if you can negotiate more, all the better.

I wish you well whatever you decide – my neighbour has a CX-5  (and a MX-5) and it’s a great looking car!

These scenarios are hard to offer constructive criticism for and against. A lot of how you handle this depends on how the car was ordered. Was DAP an included part of the car you ordered or did you pay extra for it because it offers something that benefits the particular disability at hand?

But in the here and now, the equation is simply whether DAP is important to you. You have two choices – take car that’s available now OR stick to your guns and wait for what you ordered. Only you can really weigh up the choices and whether the offer from the dealer is reasonable restitution for not delivering the car you ordered. Personally, I’d tell the dealer to foxtrot oscar but that’s just me.

Looking at the DRIVER ASSISTANCE PACK (DAP) on Mazda’s website you get

              £800.00 OPTION

OPTION PACK INCLUDES:  Adaptive LED Headlights (ALH) – Driver Attention Alert (DAA) – Rear Smart City Brake Support (SCBS-R) – 360 View Monitor

If it was me i would take the car Ask for a full tank of fuel Some money £££ for the inconvenience

              and enjoy the new car

If you was to reorder the car you want there may be a long wait in getting it

It was for the 360 camera as we have it on the Ateca and has proven a god send to parking with my wife’s conditions (it’s her car).

The dealer has no idea why the car was delivered missing the DAP and we have asked for the correct car and will wait. We have plenty of practice with being patient. And the current car is great just at the end of 5 years and at the time of ordering the Ateca cost more.

With the car being registered would that drop its value to sell on the open market? Just wondering.

I had similar when I ordered Leather on my current car.

The order form was correct but when they typed the order in the dealer made an error.

Ended up having to reorder the car.

All I got was an apology and a really long wait

Last December I went to pick up my new CX5 only to find they had ordered manual instead of automatic. Very apologetic, they reordered my car and gave me a loan car until it arrived.
Normally with Mazda, delivery is not as long as they receive regular shipments of various permutations of cars and you just normally have to wait for next shipment. In my case, about 7 weeks.
