I’m alsoa member of that group. My car got the software upgrade on the 13th January. It came into the country on the 2nd. Dealer lied, saying the importer hadn’t sent it to them yet. When I finally complained through three levels of escalation at Renault UK, I discovered the dealer could have had it anytime after 15th Jan but hadn’t called for delivery because “their compound was full”. Dealer is a pile of shite. I will have to use them for servicing though ‘cos next nearest dealer is 50 miles away. It will take very little to go wrong with the car in the first 30 days to trigger me starting the rejection process. My whole experience has been really very shoddy. I should be feeling excited, instead I’m feeling “Meh, when’s the Subaru Forester/new Kodiaq coming on the scheme?”
I fully understand where you’re coming from with that feeling after having had an almost identical episode with Vauxhall a couple of years ago. Delays, untruths and misleading sales people. When my Astra Touring Sport finally arrived at the dealership it was a very different spec to the one I had ordered. I took the car but rejected it in the first few weeks and then moved to Toyota who were more than helpful.

Thanks for keeping us up to date.
I joined the Austral UK Facebook page a few weeks ago and have seen a fair number of issues. I know a lot of people only seem to post when they have problems. Latest recall is for the ‘easy access’ on the driver’s seat, some cars have been squashing rear seat passengers legs when the ‘easy access’ operates.
Hopefully all these minor problems will have been sorted by the time you collect yours.

I love silver goes lovely with silver wheels such a shame the Honda ZRV isn’t available in silver
Same here Mike, last three cars have been silver but the nearest to silver with the Austral is Shadow Grey which is quite a bit darker.

Had a test drive in the Renault Austral earlier today and the colour was red but there were also grey and white ones in the showroom. Surprising how the colour of a car seems to change its shape and size.
I thinking of white with a black roof.

Can I ask how long the Iconic took from ordering please Mike? The sales rep wasn’t sure and mentioned that some grades, colours/colourways could take longer for the order to come through.
Quite impressed with the four way steering on the Iconic.

As an update, I called in at my local Renault dealership this morning to have a look around the new Austral, great looking car and the best bit, two tone colours are available at no extra cost.
Really like the Shadow Grey with a Black roof.

By way of an update, I called in at my local Renault dealership today to check the new Austral out, generally checking how easy it was getting in and out. As everything seemed OK, I dropped the big question “do you do unaccompanied” test drives? Yes sir, no problem, how long would you like the car for? Completely different to my experience with the local Nissan dealership.
that’s great news how long are you having it for ?
Not sure yet, it still hasn’t hit me that it was so easy. Way different to my Nissan experience.

Never had an issue, apart from one Nissan garage a few years ago. January I had the Zrv, ioniq 5 and the id4 for half a day each. Some were returned earlier. But worth checking the excess for unaccompanied as the VW was £1000 excess…

We had 2 tone paint on our megane and it was free. I’d guess the austral is the same.
Thanks for the help.

By way of a bit of an update regarding QQ test drives, I spoke to Nissan UK who said ‘extended’ test drives are available at the dealers discretion. I mentioned this to my local dealership and they said to let them know which car I wanted for the ‘extended’ test drive, which I did.
The dealership came back about an hour later and said there were no e-Power QQ cars available in the area An which includes Sheffield of all places. What a complete waste of time. Not really impressed with Nissan.

I don’t want a salesman next to me smelling of cheap lynx spray I’d prefer on my own but having booked the Honda ZRV for an hour on my own on the phone he got in and we were out 15 mins !
You’ve obviously been to my dealership Mike.

Bright and early this morning I went to have a sit in and look around the Qashqai at my local dealerships. The first problem I had was parking. Although this is a large Nissan dealership, there only seemed to be one disabled parking bay and that was filled with a white Transit van. Every other bay in the dealership was full to. No where to park at all.
I met the Motability sales guy who showed me around the Qashqai, a car which really impressed me, naturally he sat me in the top ‘grade’. I asked about delivery times which weren’t a deal breaker depending on the ‘grade’ and colour I wanted. My biggest problem was when I asked about a test drive. I wanted to drive the car home to make sure it fit in the garage OK but the salesman said only accompanied test drives were allowed. Never had this before.
Not sure now as I wouldn’t change cars without having had a decent test drive. I must admit though that my Corolla TS did feel a little ‘dated’ when I got back in it though.

A big thank you to everyone for the help, really appreciated.
Off to actually sit in one tomorrow and check how easy the getting in getting process out is. One thing that spoils my Corolla Touring Sport is that I bang my head every single time I get in the car.

Here you go
“Am I eligible for the New Vehicle Payment?” https://www.motability.co.uk/get-support/end-of-lease/cars-wavs/next-vehicle/new-vehicle-payment/
Thanks Kezo.

On the Motability site it explains it clearly as below. Am I eligible for the New Vehicle Payment? You’ll get this payment if you order your first vehicle before the end of 2024. If you’re already on the Scheme and have not had your New Vehicle Payment yet, you’ll get it whenever you get your next vehicle.
I couldn’t find that bit. Thanks for the help.

If you’re already on the Scheme and have not had your New Vehicle Payment yet, you’ll get it whenever you get your next vehicle. this is the bit that I understand to have meant as long as you order before the end of December 23 and you are going to receive your car in 2024.
Thanks for the help.

For me, it’s not only the glare from other headlights but coming upon the kids and adults (who should know better) riding in the roads on powered scooters. These have no lights at all and wearing dark clothing seems to be the current dress of choice.
I would like to learn more about the prescription anti glare glasses though.

I spoke to my dealer two weeks ago for an update on my Vauxhall Mokka to be told that the expected delivery date for the car had been moved back two weeks to the middle of February and there wasn’t even a build date showing on the system for it. Imagine my surprise when I spoke to him again this Monday to be told not only was the car built but had also arrived at the port in the UK. Told me they were expecting it ‘in the next week’ Recieved another call at 17:15 last night to say I can pick it up on Tuesday. So in just over two weeks its gone from no build date to pick up date. The car manufacturing industry is all over the place at the moment
I had this a couple of years ago with Vauxhall. Dates going out and not even a build date. Then, out of the blue, my car arrives. Luckily I was awake when I went to collect it, it was a different spec completely. Not the first time this has happened with Vauxhall.

I originally ordered the Techno trim level (which are often available from stock) on 11th October. I changed the order to the top (Iconic) trim level when it came onto the scheme a couple of weeks later. The Iconic is typically a factory order apparently – there were two showing in the country when I ordered.
Thanks for the help.

I had a video call from my dealer yesterday. Showed me his screen with my order on it. My car has been stuck at the Portbury docks since 2nd Jan. I might have to wait until 18th Feb for delivery. It is now marked as a priority vehicle, which means it should be at the dealership “soon”. Getting impatient.
Can I ask how long it has taken since you placed your order please? The Austral is top of my list to order in March.

Remember it’s YOUR topic so the onus is on you to warn posters they are going off topic. If they continue to ignore you, then that is the time to let us, the mods know.
Great answer, really good the know it’s OK to do this. It does happen quite often.

Vauxhall seem to do this quite a lot. A little over two years ago I ordered an Astra TS and when it finally arrived, it was nowhere near the original spec. The dealer even covered the car with a fancy Vauxhall cloth hoping I wouldn’t notice.
Vauxhall promised to make the changes back to the ordered spec. A few weeks waiting convinced me I had no chance of the promised changes so I contacted Motability who allowed me a free exchange. I went to Toyota and had the the Corolla TS which was probably one of my better decisions.
I’ll never go back to the same dealership or Vauxhall ever again.
