The deal clincher for choosing a Vauxhall Grandland was the rear 230 volt power socket. Really handy for a quick emergency charge for an electric boot scooter. It transpired that two weeks before signing the feature was removed. The top spec Grandland Ultimate only has 1 USB PORT AND 12V. Power outlet at the front. Nothing at all in the rear or the boot. Very poor for a top spec car.
Moral of the story is to ensure the specs haven’t changed when you sign

PSA group, which Vauxhall are now part of, are one, if not the worse for this.

A few manufacturers are changing spec as they see fit. Am guessing its becasue of parts shortage is still ongoing. Better to keep the production lines going and delete items.
I am not sure, but isnt there a motability clause that says the manufacturers can change equipment as required. I’m sure I saw something like that on its site.

I had same issue, was told there will be a power source in the back, which now there is not. BUT….they done this just to save money as the wiring is there in the boot for a usb port or 12v post. When you open the boot, on the left hand side there is a round plastic hole, pop it off and there are 2 wires there, which are not connected to anything, so if you get a usb/12v port on amazon or any where really, just need to connect the wires and push the new device in. Pics attached to see. Ive not done it myself yet,but I will be.
It won’t let me attach pictures for some reason, but I hope it helps

July 26, 2023 at 10:59 am #228043The problem you will find when manufacturers change spec is, although the wiring is there, theres often no 12v power when you come to retrofit as the manufacturer as omitted insta;;ing the fuse. Even when you look in the manual for the fuse location you will often find installing a fuse makes no difference. Getting to the fusebox often requires removing the glovebox and disconecting some of the wiring harness plugs to get full access to the fuses and to do any meaningful testing.
From memory fuse location 7 is for the boot 12v socket and either 15 or 16 for the front 12v socket on the Grandland “X”

I too was told there would be 12v and 230v sockets, which was a clincher for me. (Though when I ordered there really wasn’t much choice at all of any vehicles, and the prices were horrendous) I am so disappointed to find out there is not only none in the boot, to charge my scooter with, there is also no 12v or usb in the rear of the car, which is so poor for any modern top car, never mind top of the range.
For those who think they’ve waited a while. I ordered June 16 2022 and collected on sept 1st 2023! I was lied to multiple times and in the end I didn’t even get the car I’d ordered but a cancellation from another dealer.
I am now stuck with this thing for 3 years.September 3, 2023 at 10:22 pm #232246I too was told there would be 12v and 230v sockets, which was a clincher for me. If the car was not to specification or missing bits you deemed necessary, you should have rejected the car and not entered the PIN, rather than having to put up with it for three years!

if Vauxhall knew they was not going to put these specs in I personally think Motability should get involved and get some of the Advanced payment returned, for health reasons I needed usb point in boot but I waited 14 months for delivery so if I’d had cancelled grandland ultimate I know I would have similar wait for next car.

If there is a 12v socket in the boot you can get a usb adaptor for a couple of quid, which I know is besides the point but, it gets you out of a situation.
Unless the vast majority cancelled their orders when essential sec has been removed, I doubt Motability will have any interest 🙂

I ordered the grandland ultimate, for the 12v auxiliary plug in boot. Had an inspection on Friday.. as the rest say.. plug is missing , duly told vauxhall, Shiremoor that this was “included” when ordered.. met with a duh expression
September 24, 2023 at 5:25 pm #234588This is a common occurrence with any Stellantis car. There really isn’t any excuse for it other than cost saving and ripping the customer off.

Same problem. Cannot see any wire behind lighter grommet. £75 to have socket fitted by auto electrician.

If you needed that power as part of powering mobility equipment I’d get onto motability and say the car isn’t suitable and say there’s no power in the back.
You might have found you couldn’t charge a scooter off that 230v socket anyway a lot of chargers don’t play nice with cheap inverter power and knowing car manufacturers it’s probably as cheap and dirty power as they can get away with. You might get lucky but for some equipment you’d need a pure sine wave inverter not whatever that Vauxhall install, or dont
November 14, 2023 at 1:53 pm #243552Vauxhall seem to do this quite a lot. A little over two years ago I ordered an Astra TS and when it finally arrived, it was nowhere near the original spec. The dealer even covered the car with a fancy Vauxhall cloth hoping I wouldn’t notice.
Vauxhall promised to make the changes back to the ordered spec. A few weeks waiting convinced me I had no chance of the promised changes so I contacted Motability who allowed me a free exchange. I went to Toyota and had the the Corolla TS which was probably one of my better decisions.
I’ll never go back to the same dealership or Vauxhall ever again.

I’ve had similar problem, thank is 2 salesman said virtually word for word after I enquired none of the features I paid for where not in car ie 3 pin plug , no 12v I boot or usb rear of car, at no point was I told these features were removed, if I’d been told I would have chose different make and model. Both salesmen said “ it’s funny some we delivering with all the features some like yours have none” Jose and Jonathan where salesmens names. When I told mobility they said who is you told that these features were removed I said no at no point I also said would you give me the walk-through of the car before you put your pin number in I said no because the salesman said he was too busy and I just trusted him foolishly. Jose after I complained on 10th November Said” I’ll phone you straight back what do you want a new car?” It’s now 20th November still no phone call. Phoned Vauxhall this morning told the receptionist story said I’ll give Jose 10 days now do you think that’s long enough she said yes still no reply from Jose.
