ParticipantYes you are in your right to cancel however, you can arrange check over the car a day or two before making payment. You are also protected upto the point prior to entering your PIN. If you choose not to enter it and walk away and the dealer will have to refund your payment within 5 days. How much of a faf this will be if the dealer plays funny buggers is another matter!
This is more or less what I have done in the past. As soon as the car has arrived with the dealership, I’ve been and checked it over before the they did their PDI. Then, when I’ve agreed, I’ve paid by bankers order and taken delivery a couple of days later.

ParticipantI have had a similar message from my dealership this morning although delivery of my new car is over three months away. If the dealership want payment up front, am I OK to go ahead and cancel my order?
I have always been able to check my car making sure what I ordered is what I’m getting before making any payments at all.

ParticipantIf you use Waze app on your CarPlay, it has a audio and visual speed cam warning and as an interactive app, it posts mobile speed cams, delays and accidents in real time updated by tens of thousands of users. I was driving through Regents Park once and an alert for mobile speed cam came up and 100 yards away and around a corner, a Policeman was standing with a radar gun.
Thanks for the help. Waze is something I’ve never used before but I’ll certainly give a try when the car arrives.

ParticipantUsing Google maps to navigate warns you of speed cameras, even mobile ones in real time.
I’ve ordered the Renault Austral Iconic and the Facebook group says there are no audible warning in the car. The only speed camera warnings you get are small icons shown on the map.

Participant@FiestaRed Have you managed to get it installed yet ? Do let us know.
My new car’s only just been ordered Josh so there’s quite a few weeks before I need to decide about having the Road Angel dash cams fitted. Having said that, I most certainly will post an update when I know more.

ParticipantThanks for the replies, really appreciated. Quite a few online reviews say the camera’s great but the app is a bit ‘clunky’.

ParticipantYeah they made some slight changes to the interior, the biggest difference is the steering wheel
The new ‘centre pad’ looks a little dull compared to the old one. Looks like somewhere that’s softer that you can bang your head against when things go wrong.

ParticipantJust about to order the middle spec Techno Alpine this weekend. The dealership mentioned there are some changes to this model too, but “only cosmetic”, whatever that means.
Spotted a photo online where there seem to be differences to the dash layout and steering wheel areas. My test drive was in the Iconic and for me, the 4C really made a big difference in tight corners.

ParticipantYes you can
I’m in the opposite position, wouldn’t touch my supplying dealer with a barge pole!, so they won’t be making any money out of servicing the car!.
Thanks for the help.

ParticipantBy way of an update regarding two tone colours. I’m due to order in the next 10 days and my local Renault dealership now wants to charge me an extra £500 for a black roof. Checking other Renault dealerships nearby, I have found three within a 25 mile radius that offer the black roof FOC.
It looks like I’ll be travelling the few extra miles to save myself £500. This annoys me as it’s the same car from the same manufacturer but different dealerships seem to value their Motability customers differently.

ParticipantLooking on the configurator, the metalic paint is £750, which I assume Motability will pay for, and the black roof is £1250. So you would have to pay £500 if you wanted the black roof. I’ve ordered a KIA Sportage and have paid an extra £150 for the black roof. https://www.renault.co.uk/hybrid-cars/austral/configurator/design.html?conf=https%3A%2F%2Fuk.co.rplug.renault.com%2Fc%2FBACB4%2FApFh0Vy

ParticipantI had the same from my local Ford dealer when I tried to test drive a Mach-E. They came up with loads of excuses that all turned out to be lies.
Do you think it was anything to do with you being a Motability customer Elliot?

ParticipantWhen I pick up the car it will be in showroom with a sheet over he told me and unveiled when I’m there!
Congratulations on your new CHR Mike.
I’m not a fan of the “sheet over the car unveiling” type of handover that some dealerships do. The only time this happened to me was at a Vauxhall dealership and some features of the car were missing, even the parking warning sensors. Luckily I hadn’t signed for the car like the dealership asked me to do before the “unveiling”.

ParticipantI think this post has gone a little off topic. It started off all about the second quarter of 2024.

Participant<p style=”text-align: left;”>Still no updated Renault prices?</p>
The Austral I’ve been watching has changed. Base model up by £300 but the two higher specs still the same.

ParticipantWill all the prices be correct as of now, not likely to change later today?
The prices listed on the search are all correct, they will stay the same now until July 1st. The only thing that will change over the coming days will be a small amount of additional cars added if previous quarters are used as a guide.
Thanks for the help.

Of the cars on my list, the Renault Austral Alpine stays the same, Nissan Qashqai N-Connecta up £300 and the Toyota Corolla TS which is my current car, up a massive £600.

ParticipantThis is my first car on the scheme and so far so good. Couldn’t fault Renault in Swansea great service from start to finish. Asked about price difference in the next quarter and he said if it goes down he’ll resubmit the order at the cheaper price. Expecting delivery the middle of May
There’s quite a bit of discussion over on the Austral Facebook pages about the car mats. When collecting their cars, a fair number of people have had to buy the mats as an extra. Some being charged £75 or more. In all the posts I read, after contacting Renault, the people who got charged for the mats have now been reimbursed by Renault direct. Car mats should be in with the car, not to be bought as extras.

The middle of the range Espirit Austral and the Qashqai e-Power are the top of my list. Just waiting to see how good or bad the new April figures are.
What colour have you gone for?

ParticipantAfter a saga of delays a lies from the dealer – which Renault UK apologised for, I collect my car at 10am on Wednesday 13th March. Will post photos and impressions soon after.
Only two more sleeps, it’s worse than waiting for Santa to come.

ParticipantI’m alsoa member of that group. My car got the software upgrade on the 13th January. It came into the country on the 2nd. Dealer lied, saying the importer hadn’t sent it to them yet. When I finally complained through three levels of escalation at Renault UK, I discovered the dealer could have had it anytime after 15th Jan but hadn’t called for delivery because “their compound was full”. Dealer is a pile of shite. I will have to use them for servicing though ‘cos next nearest dealer is 50 miles away. It will take very little to go wrong with the car in the first 30 days to trigger me starting the rejection process. My whole experience has been really very shoddy. I should be feeling excited, instead I’m feeling “Meh, when’s the Subaru Forester/new Kodiaq coming on the scheme?”
I fully understand where you’re coming from with that feeling after having had an almost identical episode with Vauxhall a couple of years ago. Delays, untruths and misleading sales people. When my Astra Touring Sport finally arrived at the dealership it was a very different spec to the one I had ordered. I took the car but rejected it in the first few weeks and then moved to Toyota who were more than helpful.

ParticipantThanks for keeping us up to date.
I joined the Austral UK Facebook page a few weeks ago and have seen a fair number of issues. I know a lot of people only seem to post when they have problems. Latest recall is for the ‘easy access’ on the driver’s seat, some cars have been squashing rear seat passengers legs when the ‘easy access’ operates.
Hopefully all these minor problems will have been sorted by the time you collect yours.
