Thanks guys for the answers this is why I came back here honest answers which if it’s ok will take a day or so to read through and ask more questions 👍
March 11, 2025 at 1:33 pm in reply to: Means Testing My PIP Eligibility Would Mean Losing My Mobility #299191Oddly I think this bunch of chancers will hit us with draconian measures a government quite clearly right wing in all but name and as usual it’s us who can least defend ourselves will be the ones victimised
Mines a 1.4 manual I love it to be honest, get a very steady 37 mpg which is about what I was getting from the old astra I had, plenty of room in front and back though boot is fine and its height does help me in and out.
Like I say I love mine it does everything I ask of it and more yes its got bad reviews but take no notice of them and try one out it may just surprise you.
If im honest since lockdown ive watched less and less tv and more podcast and audible, just finished volume one of round the Horne quite simply comic brilliance that holds up today.
I do like Outlander but it does have, to me at least an obsession with rape,im no prude far from it but I don’t think anyone been left untouched..give it a rest please thats all I ask of the shows writers and producers
May 22, 2020 at 1:43 pm in reply to: Calls for car dealerships to reopen as closures costs Treasury £61 million a day #113630There is no reason why dealerships couldn’t open using some sort of appointment system.
That would require some sort of common sense maybe its in a short supply at the moment because you’re right there isn’t a good reason why showrooms cant openers you say with a system in place.
If i was in charge when over 36000 people have died id be keeping out of the way.
Yes its not something to crow abut thats for sure, he is the face of this pandemic in this country.
It’s looking good here but the weather temp wise is like a yo-yo at the moment I had a cardy on yesterday today shorts
And the grim reality of Brexit starts to rear its head, but hey we got our country back etc,etc
Best advice I could offer is this..go to bed, try and get a nights sleep (with what’s happened it’ll be hard I know),ring Motability and tell them the truth, dont be tempted to fudge what’s happened, id assume they’ll tell you to get in touch with RSA and see what happens.
The Invisible man. An empty seat will make a speech at 7:00pm
It would have made far more sense than what did happen thats for sure.
I managed 2 weeks and then I had to go out, only went shopping with my wife, stayed in the car but it was just nice to see people again.
April 19, 2020 at 7:48 am in reply to: Coronavirus vaccine: Target of a million doses by September, scientists say #111898Why do you think the vaccine won’t work, they seem pretty confident about it working. The testing of this vaccine begins next week, let’s keep our fingers crossed ?
Well they’re a company that makes money they’re not going to say “hey here’s a vaccine that doesn’t work” are they?:)
The whole coverage of this pandemic has been blighted by non stories such as this, no real basis of truth in it, they haven’t even started testing it yet they’re proclaiming they’ve found the cure, put simply whoever does find this vaccine is going to be able to print money and thats what this lot are doing, jockying for position at the table nothing more.
But on a wider note as I say the coverage by the media has been for the most part sensationalist nonsense the example I pit forward is Johnson announcing the lockdown and he clearly said it’d be reviewed at 3 weeks, not that it was over the press didn’t seem to bother with that fact and seemed to steer their views toward its all over by easter and we can all go and have a party the likes of which we’ve not seen since VE Day.
That didn’t happen of course and now as this lurches on and on stories, or non stories drip out offering hope but with very little truth to a story, the guideline of 12 to 18 months is the one ive always heard when people much more learned than I mention vaccines, so thats the one I go with.
Life as we know it,as we all know now has changed beyond all recognition social distancing is here to stay at least till a vaccine is found the sooner the media get used to that idea the better it’ll be for all of us.
Just read online Doctor said it can be spread through farting
Well if he has proof of this way to spread the virus you can’t fault his work ethic I suppose.
April 18, 2020 at 10:52 pm in reply to: Coronavirus vaccine: Target of a million doses by September, scientists say #111890I saw this headline and I can’t help but feel its optimistic at best, sure you can make a million vaccines by next week but they’d be useless as they won’t work I would think the timeline of 12 to 18 months is more the mark.
How’s things looking from their perspective?
I asked them both and both, not surprisingly came back with similar answers, fed up of having to scrimp on PPE,tired..just tired,my wife is the pragmatist she does see herself as an angel or have a calling, its a job one she enjoys but is just so tired of both red and blue playing football with the nursing profession, the man in the street knows the worth of the NHS,shame on the last 10 years in particular wages have stayed the same, but of course now the NHS is the golden child, perhaps when this is over, if it ever is of course, politicians will remember this come pay rise time.
Not a sole out clapping tonight, last week everyone was out, strange.
Only so many times you can do it before life takes over again, days are merging into each other now I’ll go as far as to say once was enough, the more you do this sort of thing the less the impact is.
Both my wife and son are nurses in the NHS and frankly haven’t taken that much notice of the clapping, theyre too busy working and trying to keep ahead of the virus.
Im sleeping less..4 hours a night if im lucky before this I got a solid 6 hours a night and was happy with that.
An extension. surely and for a couple of years too..this is a hole of gargantuan proportions and to go it alone would be folly.
Finally got to Asda and it was well stocked with goods, the last week has been a horror showcase the lady on the till explained her thoughts and the lull “the morons have spent up”,she’s probably right too, my wife does a 12 hour shift in a care home so no chance of getting to the shops now until her days off next weekend all fun I suppose.
I went to Costco yesterday to pick up only our normal bi monthly shop..it was quite simply insanity, people seem to have lost capacity for rational thinking
Do the DWP write to you and let you know they’re paying Motability?
Is it automatic ?
No manual Mike,
I just have to say Jeep’s are just cool regardless of the Fiat bits underneath
And yes we’ve had more than a few people come up and ask what’s its like or just having a good look at it.
So week one down with the Jeep Compass..
Really impressed with space, much headroom to play with which is nice my wife who does the driving just fell in love withe ease of driving it, while its not the biggest SUV out there it is a big car coming from her astra thats for sure, finally took some time and headed up to the Lake District needless to say it ate the miles with no issue at all.
Don’t get a white car..ever….:)
getting 37.2 mpg so happy enough with that, will post some pics soon but am very happy with it so far.
Joss – sorry if I am wrong about Blair starting the DLA-PIP thing. Was sure I received the first paperwork about it in the 90s. Will check
Wasn’t it Brown who though ESA would be a good idea though?
