There is a lot of knowledge amongst us, I exclude myself.
The COVID 19 is dominating the news:
How worried should we be?
Will this be Spanish flu proportions or just another contained outbreak as SARS and MERS were?
Oh – and when will we start to see ‘Just in time’ manufacturing suffer?

Missed off – I have 2 Grandkids under 11 living in Copenhagen – it is very worrying!
April 15, 2020 at 12:50 pm #111724Wife went to Morrison in Rugeley this morning, despite the staff trying their hardest people were totally ignoring social distancing it was like a cattle market people pushing and shoving, next time she is only going to Tesco who have very strict enforcement rules.
Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.
April 15, 2020 at 5:13 pm #111741Folk are just so ignorant of social distancing. I can’t fault Tescos policy on this.

PhiljbOne of our neighbours had a birthday party with a party games a bouncy castle and bbq for about 25 kids and their parents during the day on Monday.
My wife was sitting in our garden and heard them singing happy birthday to someone who doesn’t even live there. It turned out the family who live in the house offered to hold a party for a friend with a small garden? It finished about 8pm in the evening. These are the people who would never follow self isolating or anything that prevented them from doing what they want to.
April 16, 2020 at 9:05 am #111764These people are the selfish type who when everyone is abiding by the lockdown they think they can override everyone else they should have been fined or put in the cells for a night.
April 17, 2020 at 9:17 am #111797Was our granddaughters birthday this week and we had a virtual party via FaceTime, all sang happy birthday together was lovely, she had her cake which, I may say, looked lovely, kept telling my daughter to put my slice on a plate please! JBXHi folks, i’m not sure if it’s already been discussed but what happens if our cars develop a fault during the 6 month extension period and the car’s 3 year warranty has expired?
I assume we would be liable to pay to have it repaired?
April 17, 2020 at 1:15 pm #111817Remember, JBX – it’s not your car – Motability owns it and is responsible for its upkeep, not you. No need to worry.

GeorgieJoss – Gosh. I’ve only just noticed the bottom line of your sig.: “”It is a great ability to be able to conceal one’s ability.”
Glad to know I’m not the only fan of Francois de la Rochfoucuald!

GeorgieJoss – Churchill also came up with some real crackers, of course (as well as his Inspiring Speeches). Insults in particular.
But I have to confess to a sneaky preference for Cicero. “A room without books is as a body without a soul” is pretty much my Family Motto.

Well if he has proof of this way to spread the virus you can’t fault his work ethic I suppose.
April 24, 2020 at 3:35 pm #112218April 25, 2020 at 12:09 pm #112245A quick thought, we supposedly have brilliant scientists throughout the world yet, on the simple question of wearing face masks, they cannot agree.
April 25, 2020 at 12:30 pm #112248Scientists aren’t supposed to agree on anything unless it’s been exhaustively tested, everything has to be questioned over & over, that’s simply the way science works.
Face masks are relatively simple to test in ideal lab conditions, but put those masks onto people out in the wild & you’re never going to be able to test exhaustively, there are far too many unknowns.
Therefore you can make a quick & dirty decision based upon a very simple question, “will face masks help to protect the public if used correctly”, the answer is “yes” but that covers everything from 1-100% protection increase. If used incorrectly of course it could possibly make things worse, for instance, if people imagine they have better protection that they really do with a mask on & enter a more dangerous situation than they would otherwise. This is where the “no” comes in.
The question would be better phased “as a scientist, would you use a face mask to help protect yourself” – I’m a scientist, based upon what I understand, know & don’t know, I would wear a mask in certain situations such as visiting a supermarket, or any shop, etc. I wouldn’t bother wearing a mask inside my car as I could use recirculate & put the air through the filters if I’m following another car/passing cyclists, etc.
