I’m with you Glos Guy. I personally think that Nissan have it correct, they were the first family large SUV manufacturer if my memory serves me correct.

Mark, not long off the phone to my local dealer (where I got my current car from) and she says if we are ordering this month, she would expect it to be delivered May/ June 2022 at the dealer. That’s for an ST Line X 1.5 Petrol or a 2.5 Petrol FHEV. Hope that helps.

December 9, 2021 at 11:52 am in reply to: Ford announces decision to scrap diesel versions of Kuga SUV after sales slump #171242Cheers Brydo, I will maybe phone the local Ford Dealer next week and enquire as if I cannot get a Qashqai in Q1, I think I will be replacing my current Kuga for an ST Line X Edition Diesel in January 2022. Thanks for the info though, much appreciated.

It would just be nice to order a Qashqai! Still waiting for Q1 2022 to see if it comes back on so I can order it. Well maybe not, there’s another pink elephant flying over the sky!

Folks, is there anything that the members on this platform can do to wake up Motability with regards to cars disappearing from the scheme.
I do find it hard to think that there will soon be nothing left on the scheme.
If I did not know better, looking in for the first time, I would assume that Motability are trying to close down or trying to bring it down to 4 or 5 vehicles which, with the saga of “chip” shortages, I am not wearing anymore. I can go and order a vehicle as a private buyer and get it fairly quickly, from some manufacturers.
Maybe Motability should exercise their buying power and authority to manufacturers in order to cater for every single one of the disabled people who rely on this scheme to keep mobile.
This is just my own PERSONAL opinion.
Maybe I have got this all very wrong (I hope I have) and in Q1 or Q2 2022, there will be an influx of cars reappearing back onto the scheme.

I would contact your dealer and ask them where it is? Did you get a delivery date?
Let them know you know it is in Derbyshire and has been for 10 days via your APP. Just an idea.

November 29, 2021 at 10:23 am in reply to: Lease nearly over and struggling to find suitable car #170280Hi Laura, we are in exactly the same position. We decided on the Qashqai but as you know it was removed.
I spoke with Nissan last week and they anticipate it back on the scheme in Q1 2022.
We looked at the Tuscon too so might be worth a look, huge boot and very well spec’d (Ultimate), but the access and egress for my wife was a struggle with her legs, hence the Nissan is what we are hoping for.
I have a Kuga and have not looked at the new one as of yet as she finds it easier to get in/out of our current Kuga. If the Qashqai is not coming on, we may extend our lease but I can see you are going to be at the maximum 5 years lease.
I do sympathise with you, the cars available are shocking for my wifes needs.
The ironic thing is we an order a Qashqai and get it March 2022 as a private buyer!

I agree with Elliot.
I do think when you have passed the driving test, I am sure the response will be completely different i.e puuting you on the insurance no problem.
RSA cannot predict if you pass or not and if they put you on prior to passing, what’s to stop you driving the car? So they are being straight down the middle IMHO as I can only think this is why.

I agree with Jojoe.
It appears the Qashqai is coming back on Q1 2022 which is perfect for my wifes needs, so we will extend the lease for another 2 years on Monday and just keep our fingers crossed.
I do think Motability need to be stronger and ruthless with manufacturers as if they cannot fulfill a service, then Motability need to pull the plug on them. I appreciate in these times of “chip” shortages but I had called another Nissan dealer miles away as a private buyer and guess what, I could have the exact same car, model and colour delivered for 1st March handover, where he would give me that in writing, it’s funny that!
Anyhow, we are extending the lease, will wait and see what happens Q1, as our current car has only covered less than 15,000 miles so no great hardship to get the car that suits our needs.

Thanks Glos Guy, I think it is looking more like we will wait for the next quarter and take it from there. I have only covered just over 15,000 miles in our current motability car as it is mainly for use when I take my wife out to the shops, hospital and doctors appointments. I try not to use it, I use my other car for work etc.

Hi Jax. The AP that you pay (on pick up) is the AP that applied at the time you ordered the car. However, if the price drops before you pick up the car, a helpful dealer will cancel and reorder on the Motability system, which takes less than 10 minutes. The Motability ‘order’ isn’t actually an order, it’s just admin. The actual order is with the manufacturer, which is unaffected by this. It happened with our current car and the dealer did it for us without us even asking, but that’s exceptional!
I agree with you Glos Guy, exactly the same happened with us in 2016, so you should get the lower price, if applicable.

Not at all Rene, sorry if you thought that. I was just saying that I am not the disabled person and don’t park in a space on my own, where I do know others who flaunt it, parents at my sons school for example, where the blue badge is for the child, not them but one or two do use it when their child is at school.
People these days are so lazy. Even where we live, we have a marked disabled bay outside our house and the amount of tmes I have came back to find a van, car or a truck in the space, angry is an understatement.

As I am the full time carer for my wife, when I am in the car on my own, I do not park in a disabled space as it is damn right offensive to disabled people, wrong and rude.
I have a theory. Maybe the local council should employ me as a Disabled Parking warden, pay me £0 a year, just expenses and then they would see a huge return but even better, ticket non disabled drivers without a badge and they would soon get the message, park there without a blue badge and you are going to be ticketed.
I think it would only take a year or two doing this and the general public would be aware of this shameful behaviour and wont risk it for a fine of say £100 that could be better spent improving the car parks, increase disabled parking and going towards grants to assist disabled people or to assist with stair lift or ramps for wheelchair users.
Just an idea………………………………….

I constantly get abuse from “non disabled” people parking in disabled spaces!
Most commonly at supermarkets and shops where they are not policed. The main shopping centres are fine as there are usually a parking patrol and I have seen plenty cars being ticketed.
I do think there should be a photo taken and shame them as it is totally unfair that disabled people cannot go places and cannot get parked. It is usually the younger generation who cannot walk the extra 50 yards.
Maybe one day they will realise what disabled actually means and stands for.
Rant over!

Through experience in the years gone passed (many years using Motability), the dealer has to fulfill your order as it was placed prior to coming off the scheme. It is like the AP rising in a new quarters, they have to fulfill it at the time of order, not the aftermath. Hope that helps,

Hi Brydo, about 8 years ago I was in exactly the same position. I had a Volvo V40 which was getting tougher and tougher getting in/out of. I contacted Motability to explain this and I had to get a wheelchair in and out of the car too. They were very accomodating and changed it for a Nissan Qashqai mid ontract.
I don’t know if they have changed their rules but just contact them and explain, I am sure they will agree as your circumstances hae changed I assume.
