Hi everyone,
i hope you are all well despite the severe disappointment in viewing the Q2 price increases.
Like many have always been grateful for the motability scheme which as a double leg amputee has meant that i have remained in the same job for almost 30 years and having a vehicle has been key to remaining mobile to the best of my ability and added to this I am a type 1 diabetic and awaiting a kidney/pancreas transplant as I am also on dialysis twice per week but its not about my conditions its to highlight like many others that regardless of what the press will have the public think the motability scheme is vital and if it is being abused by some then yes go after them but do not penalise the honest recipients and those who genuinely rely on having a motability vehicle and wether that is a fiat 500 or a BMW then if available on the scheme and affordable by the recipient then that should be a choice available .
it is clear Motability are in a quandary as to how best to maintain the scheme but the price increases on the majority of the vehicles available are ridiculous and penalise every honest and genuine recipient of the scheme.
leasing companies will be more than aware of customers views and I hope motability go back to the drawing board and have a good think about the way forward before the scheme collapses completely and motability is no more.
Forgive me as I don’t want it to be all doom and gloom however it is the worst quarter I have witnessed in the 27 years I’ve been using the scheme.
I hope for everyone who uses the scheme and like myself appreciates the lifeline that it is will see some positive announcements and changes in the not so distant future for the scheme but I’m not holding my breath.
Non of us asked to be disabled so why should we be penalised for it.
Please take care everyone.
Hi Scotty,
my intention after the advice received from the forum was to pay and learn from my genuine mistake however when i tried to pay the £60 it wouldn’t accept the £60 as the operator knows I have a second appeal through popla and the only acceptable payment is £100 but the reply from the operator was to await a response from the second appeal decision and at best it will be removed but more likely the £100 fee will have to be paid as it’s likely the decision will be longer than 14 days which is the time allowed for the £60 fee.
Hi everyone,
Thank you to everyone for their replies and advice.
The facts are I parked up placing my blue badge on display before exiting the vehicle.I returned 2.5 hours later and there was no indication of a ticket.
A fortnight later I received a PCN on the post indicating a fee of £100 or £60 and I immediately appealed to the parking operator and next day received an email saying my appeal was rejected.
i did state I was unaware of an additional ticket requirement when using my blue badge as I’ve never experienced this in Glasgow or elsewhere when parking?
I also made them aware my reasons for having a blue badge being a double leg amputee, type 1 diabetic and receiving dialysis and sent photos of my badge and number.
I then found i could appeal through popla but then also realised I can’t pay the reduced fee of £60 whilst this appeal is ongoing and as the decision may be longer than 14 days that means if again rejected I pay £100!
I haven’t paid the fine as yet but tried to pay the £60 reduced fee but would only allow the £200 payment even though I’m within the 14 day period for the reduced charge?
I have however appealed again through Popla 🤞
I have tried to pay the reduced charge of £60 as it is within the 24 day period but it only shows £100 fee on the payment page when due to pay?
Thank you to everyone for your replies but I believe it’s best to pay it and learn from it 😊
Hi,
whilst I don’t have a Tavascan I’ve owned a cupra Born v3 for a year now and it has been fantastic to drive and own and though some time away from renewing I’d definitely consider
Good luck with your choice 👍
I mentioned in a previous post that I’m often judged exiting my vehicle and even though I display a blue badge which I’m entitled to I still receive abuse even from other blue badge holders who don’t realise I’m a double leg amputee, type 1 diabetic and on dialysis due to kidney failure but i still push myself to work and as i wear a suit and remain mobile it seems I’m punished for doing so but I just can’t be bothered with the ignorance and lack of understanding from people that don’t know any better.
Shsme on them and I hope they could experience the many dark and painful moments I and many others experience before being judged!!
The issue I have as a blue badge holder is being judged by others especially when I exit my vehicle wearing a suit as I do for work to receive abuse but they don’t realise I’m a double leg amputee, type 1 diabetic and I’m on dialysis for kidney failure though push myself to work so my reply to them is”should I get my arms amputated to make it easier for you “.The world can be a cruel place but the blue badge is a lifeline for many.
Hi PS,
great idea and I’ve found my mates daughter is buying a house next to the apartments so I’ll give it a go paying the tarrif cost which is cheaper than public network.
Thanks to everyone for their feedback 👍
Hi,
the chargers I believe are for all apartment residents though unsure if each block gets chargers and how many are EV owners?Paying 25p per kw would be great as it’s better than the public network cost but i believe podpoint are fitting the chargers so unsure of how it works or is priced?
Hi Brydo,
the new apartment is actually at Braehead/Renfrew and the development looks great and I think about 4 chargers are getting put in for residents use,I just hope there’s a reasonable cost to charge 🤞as I’ve got used to charging in the small hours using off peak rates 👍
Hi all,
i hope you’re safe and well
i currently charge my Cupra Born at home for 9 pence per KW off peak so i love my EV and costs however due to being placed on dialysis recently in addition to my prosthetics etc I am having to reduce my hours at work further meaning i have to sell my current home downsizing to an apartment though a new development and apparently podpoint EV chargers will be installed for the apartments to use.Id love to keep my house but it’s not possible and I’m not sure if anyone has any experience of this charging method that I will eventually use though not until May/june 2025 when the property is built ?
sorry if that’s long winded 😔

i might be wrong but setting your price cap might help?
Thank you to everyone for their replies and sound advice 👍
October 2, 2024 at 8:37 pm in reply to: How much would I save Electric vs Petrol? My petrol figures below #290005I honestly thought I read it wrong when you said £400 per month as currently that’s almost 2 years electricity cost for my Cupra Born.
The savings are massive if you’re fortunate enough to charge at home so if you can do that then it’s a no brained 👍
For those looking to have an EV I would totally recommend the Cupra Born.I’ve been fortunate enough to have some good cars on the scheme and wasn’t keen on going electric but it puts a smile on my face every time and the cheaper running costs are significantly cheaper With home charging 👍
I’ve already been set up since June but was unsure why this company called now but they stated it was a follow up from Ohme?
I will call Ohme tomorrow to confirm.

personally I wouldn’t pay attention to a smart meter as i found it doesn’t recognise off peak though I’ve learned how to do the maths deducting the numbers etc but the smart meter is a waste of time regarding EV use i instead refer to the hub on my EDF app which confirms the use against the Ohme app👍
Hi Retro89
i can relate to this issue as in 2021 several members after handing back my Vw GTD(Motability) and happily getting around in my vehicle when I received a notice for being in a bus lane in Birmingham (I stay in Glasgow)and never been to Birmingham however I explained this to Birmingham city council but it took sometime to resolve even after contacting Motability and sending relevant paperwork and I also received a final notice and a letter from their solicitor to pursue but i spoke to dvla and they said there was delays due to the pandemic 🙄but after quite a bit of stress it was resolved but a total nightmares 😡
@ioniq
I wasn’t asking Motability to cover the cost as I’ve always purchased them myself given my circumstances but was merely asking if anyone had fitted them and how they found them on an EV.Hi all,
I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone that helped and explained the issues I was having with EDF and the useless IHD readings as it was clear the IHD wasn’t showing off peak as mentioned.
Thank you all very much as you were able to explain it a lot better than my energy provider (EDF)
This site is a fantastic help 👋👍
July 2, 2024 at 4:57 pm in reply to: Electricity tariffs and setting up of EV home charging procedures #283741Hi
As mentioned previously the IHD is useless as when I’ve checked my electricity usage on my account (HUB) it stated the correct amount so I’ll check the hub from now on but not sure the point of a IHD as the readings/amounts are way off?
Thank you for explaining things everyone 👍
I hope that’s the case?
What is an IHD?
So should i ignore the smart meter display and continue with my charging and settings on the Ohme app?
